  • Patent number: 4027369
Abstract: A tool for interengaging a pair of element rows in a concealed type slide fastener has a pair of blocks movable toward and away from each other and normally urged apart, and a pair of slider body halves mounted on the blocks, respectively, the slider halves being matable to provide a slider body when the blocks are moved toward each other. An element guide is formed centrally on the bottom surface of a pivotable member operatively connected to the blocks. The pivotable member is movable pivotally into a position in which the element guide and the slider body halves are put together to jointly provide a slider when the blocks are moved toward each other. A motion converting means is provided for converting motion of the blocks into pivotal motion of the pivotable member.

  • Patent number: 4023241
Abstract: A slide fastener having at its top end a slider escape mechanism which comprises a cooperative pair of yieldable top stops, and an extra length of fastener elements carried on one of the stringer tapes, such that the slider can be forced past the yieldable top stops to ride onto the extra fastener elements in an emergency and hence to release the other stringer tape. To permit ready withdrawal of the said other stringer tape from the slider, a reinforcing sheet of thermoplastic material or the like is heat-sealed or otherwise attached to its upper end portion, from which at least the bead of the tape is removed. The fastener can be forced open from its top end without pulling the slider down along the rows of interlocking fastener elements.

  • Patent number: 4023244
Abstract: An emergency opening slider to be mounted, in addition to the usual fastener slider, in any selected position on interlocked rows of fastener elements to permit the fastener to be forced open from the selected position in an emergency. The slider body has a guide channel therethrough which consists of contracted terminal portions at both ends and an expanded midportion, with the latter portion divided into a pair of branch channels where the rows of fastener elements are incapable of interlocking engagement. The slider body includes a portion or portions which, upon application of operating force as through a pull string connected thereto, are displaceable to permit disengagement of the fastener elements.

  • Patent number: 4023236
Abstract: For suspending a sliding door from a pair of parallel spaced overhead tracks, there is provided a dual-roller support comprising first and second separate sections each comprising a roller and its mount. Only the first section is directly affixed to the top edge of the door. Thus, for installation of the door, the roller of the first section is first manipulated into rolling engagement with one of the overhead tracks thereby temporarily suspending the door therefrom. The second section is then bolted to the first section, with the roller of the second section in rolling engagement with the other overhead track.

  • Patent number: 4015449
Abstract: A slide fastener stringer tape of a warp-knitted structure is disclosed which is adapted for mounting thereon a row of interlocking fastener elements. The warp-knitted stringer tape has the interwale groove at the tape edge along and through which a line of element-sewing stitches passes. The interwale groove is defined between the outermost wale and an adjoining wale and is provided therein solely with tricot sinker loops which connect these wales together in each course. This arrangement is such that the sewing needle can be directed to and through any optional position of the interwale groove without having regard to the position of the courses.

  • Patent number: 4015457
Abstract: In a two-way closable slide fastener having a pair of sliders arranged reversely to each other on interlocking rows of fastener elements, one of the sliders has a tongue projecting forwardly therefrom, whereas the other slider has a socket for receiving the tongue. Built into the socketed slider is a key-operated lock mechanism including a bolt which can be shot into and withdrawn from the socket by manipulation of the key. When the tongue is inserted into the socket upon closure of the fastener, the bolt selectively engages and disengages the tongue for locking and unlocking the sliders.

  • Patent number: 4015450
Abstract: A slide fastener of the concealed or masked type comprises a pair of opposed support tapes each having a longitudinal edge portion folded on itself and rows of interlocking fastener elements secured to the folded edge portions of the respective support tapes. The tape is made of a warp-knit fabric having on one surface a multiplicity of alternate wales and interwale grooves. A particular wale disposed close to the path of a sewing needle is formed with fewer knit threads than the remaining portions of the tape to reduce the loop density thereat and hence renders this wale portion flexible to permit the tape to yield itself to the sewing pressure.
