  • Patent number: 8694496
Abstract: A method for harvesting application metadata includes receiving metadata from a web application and storing the metadata to a metadata collection. The metadata indicates a characteristic of a web application user. The metadata collection identifies the user and may include metadata from other web applications. The advertisement is then characterized. For example, keywords may be associated with the advertisement. An affinity between the advertisement and the user is then determined and an indication of the affinity is recorded. When the affinity exceeds a predetermined threshold, the user may be identified as a potential target of the advertisement. The service provider may then identify the potential targets to the advertiser or provide the advertisement to the targets on behalf of the advertiser. The web application may be compensated for providing the metadata. The compensation may occur in response to the metadata resulting in identifying the user as a potential target.

  • Publication number: 20140095161
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for identifying the source of a signal via channel equalization using characteristics of the signal. A system receives a signal, then measures a frequency response of the signal by performing a spectral analysis over the entire signal. The system computes the average amplitude over a subset of time samples from the spectral analysis for each represented frequency and compares the set of averaged amplitudes to a stored set of averaged amplitudes to produce equalization coefficients. Applying the equalization coefficients to the frequency response yields an equalized frequency response, which is compared to a stored frequency response using a classifier to determine a match. Alternately, the system applies the equalization coefficients to the stored frequency response yielding an equalized stored frequency response. The method can recognize speakers, vehicles, electromagnetic signals, sonar signals, optical signals, videos, etc.

  • Publication number: 20140088957
Abstract: A method for performing packet loss or Frame Erasure Concealment (FEC) for a speech coder receives encoded frames of compressed speech information transmitted from an encoder. The method determines whether an encoded frame has been lost, corrupted in transmission, or erased, synthesizes properly received frames, and decides on an overlap-add window to use in combining a portion of the synthesized speech signal with a subsequent speech signal resulting from a received and decoded packet, where the size of the overlap-add window is based on the unavailability of packets. If it is determined that an encoded frame has been lost, corrupted in transmission, or erased, the method performed an overlap-add operation on the portion of the synthesized speech signal and the subsequent speech signal, using the decided-on overlap-add window.
