Abstract: Systems and processes that incorporate teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a request for a streaming video application service from a mobile device and, responsive to determining a relationship between a service provider of a wireless access point and a service provider of a cellular network providing the streaming video application service via the cellular services. Responsive to determining that the wireless access point is in a communication range of the mobile device based on a proximity of the wireless access point to the mobile device, a communication session is initiated between the mobile device and the wireless access point. Delivery of the streaming video application service to the mobile device is switched from over the cellular network to over the wireless access point. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Apparatus, system and method for promoting media apps to an end user of a smart device. The smart device gathers information of apps that have been installed into the smart device and provides this information to a remote server. The remote server compares the information sent by the smart device to an identification of promoted apps received from a remote source to identify apps that are not installed in the smart device that are included in the identification of promoted apps. The remote server then notifies the smart device of which apps in the identification of promoted apps are not installed into the smart device, so that a user of the smart device may choose to have the missing app installed.

Abstract: A radio access network intelligent controller (RIC) can comprise a physical resource block (PRB) scheduler that can facilitate the streaming of videos. When a user equipment (UE) requests a video, the PRB scheduler can take into account channel quality data associated with the connection between the UE and a distributed unit of a base station. The PRB scheduler can also receive video stream rate information from a video server. Based on the video stream rate information and the channel quality data, the PRB scheduler can make a decision regarding what types of videos to facilitate streaming to the UE.

Abstract: Provided is dynamically converting a video being displayed on a user device according to changes in a holding direction and a display direction of the user device. The user device may include a processor: generate a request message for requesting a predetermined video to a contents server and transmit the request message to the contents server through the communication circuit, receive the requested video from the contents server in response to the request message through the communication circuit, detect a target object from each image frame of the received video and define a region of interest based on the detected target object; determine whether error occurs in detecting the target object at each image frame and correct the region of interest when error occurs; defining a crop region based on the corrected region of interest; and converting the received video to a second video based on the crop region.

Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method may include initiating a translucent layer, that includes a user interface element, for displaying over a content layer on a computing device, and receiving, from a content source, video content for the content layer. The method may also include receiving input via the user interface element and sending the input to the content source to direct the content source to modify the video content. The method may further include receiving modified video content from the content source and displaying the modified video content on the content layer. Abstract: Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. An ATSC3.0 service list table (SLT) contains correlations between service IDs and frequencies so that a receiver receiving duplicate services on different frequencies in a boundary between broadcast regions can select the best frequency to tune to in order to present the service, without having to access a database to correlate service IDs to frequencies.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a user device that attaches to a radio access network of a mobile network and requests services. The user device creates a virtual network function on the device to support the service. The virtual network function may include a user plane virtual network function, a control plane virtual network function, or both. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A mechanism is provided for remote virtual reality viewing of an event using crowdsourcing. Each video perspective of a plurality of video perspectives of the event is analyzed to identify content and context of the event. A digital virtual reality (VR) experience (VRX) token stream of each video perspective of the plurality of video perspectives is produced based on the identified content and the identified context of the event. Responsive to a remote user initiating a viewing of a virtual reality presentation of the event, a set of digital VRX token streams of the event is presented to the remote user. Responsive to the remote user selecting one digital VRX token stream of the set of digital VRX token streams, the selected digital VRX token stream is presented to the remote user in a virtual reality format.

Abstract: An apparatus including an interface and a processor. The interface may be configured to receive pixel data generated by a capture device. The processor may be configured to generate video frames in response to the pixel data, perform computer vision operations on the video frames to detect objects, perform a classification of the objects detected based on characteristics of the objects, determine whether the classification of the objects corresponds to a user-defined event and generate encoded video frames from the video frames. The encoded video frames may be communicated to a cloud storage service. The encoded video frames may comprise a first sample of the video frames selected at a first rate when the user-defined event is not detected and a second sample of the video frames selected at a second rate while the user-defined event is detected. The second rate may be greater than the first rate.

Abstract: A list of video-on-demand (VOD) programs based on viewer selections is provided. VOD programs may be marked with a mark indicating the level of viewer interest. In one embodiment, a list of VOD programs may be displayed that includes or excludes programs having a particular mark, or sorts programs based on the marks. In another embodiment, a list of VOD programs may be displayed based on availability times. In yet another embodiment, after a viewer has played back a VOD program, a list of related VOD programs may be automatically displayed.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method and system for uploading media objects unto a web platform, the method executable by a server that hosts the web platform, the server being coupled to an electronic device, the method comprising: acquiring a first media object having a first duration time and a second media object having a second duration time for uploading; queuing for upload the first media object; determining a remaining time available for publishing the second media object, the remaining time corresponding to a difference between a predetermined time limit set by the web platform and the first duration time; in response to the remaining time being below the second duration time, shortening the first media object to reduce the first duration time; in response to the second duration time being below the remaining time, publishing the first media object and the second media object as a merged media object.

Abstract: A set top box (STB) providing enhanced Wi-Fi coverage. The STB downloads and configures an extender service agent for implementing extender capability at the STB. pairing the extender service agent with a router, and providing extended wireless IP connectivity using a fronthaul connection via the antenna to clients in range of IP signals radiated by the antenna. When the STB uses a wired backhaul connection all of an available bandwidth is used for the fronthaul connection, and when a wireless backhaul connection is used, the available bandwidth is split between the backhaul connection and the fronthaul connection.

Abstract: A system obtains a data set representing immersive video content for display at a display time, including first data representing the content according to a first level of detail, and second data representing the content according to a second higher level of detail. During one or more first times prior to the display time, the system causes at least a portion of the first data to be stored in a buffer. During one or more second times prior to the display time, the system generates a prediction of a viewport for displaying the content to a user at the display time, identifies a portion of the second data corresponding to the prediction of the viewport, and causes the identified portion of the second data to be stored in the video buffer. At the display time, the system causes the content to be displayed to the user using the video buffer.

Abstract: One aspect of the invention relates to a video distribution system for live distributing a video containing a virtual space and an animation of a character object generated based on a motion of a distributor user. The video distribution system determines, when receiving from a viewer user watching the video a participation request to request participation in the video, which one of first and second groups the viewer user belongs to. If the viewer user is determined to belong to the first group, the video distribution system arranges a specific avatar of the viewer user in a first region within the virtual space. If the viewer user is determined to belong to the second group, the video distribution system arranges the specific avatar in a second region within the virtual space as long as a condition for participation is satisfied.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for generating a playlist for a simultaneous presentation of a plurality of media assets. The system retrieves a user preference associated with a user profile and receives a selection of a first media asset and a second media asset from the plurality of media assets for presentation on a user device. The system parses the respective audio streams of the first media asset and the second media asset to identify one or more preferred audio segments based on the user preference and generates the playlist of the identified one or more preferred audio segments. Based on a generated audio playlist, the system generates, for presentation on the user device, the video stream for each of the first media asset and the second media asset and the playlist of the identified one or more preferred audio segments.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for associating and synchronizing extrinsic data with video content at particular points of time in the video content. In one embodiment, an application identifies a video content feature currently being presented via a display device. A current time in the video content feature are determined. Performers potentially depicted in the video content feature at the current time are determined. The application then generates a user interface configured to receive a user selection of a particular performer from the performers, where the user selection indicates that the particular performer is depicted in the video content feature at the current time.
