  • Patent number: 10133332
Abstract: Methods and apparatus relating to a location aware power management scheme for an always-on-always-listen voice recognition system are described. In an embodiment, logic performs ambient noise trigger level analysis for a location and causes storage of an ambient noise trigger level threshold value for the location based on the ambient noise trigger level analysis. Furthermore, logic determines whether to cause modification to a state of an audio processor in response to detection of the audio processor at the location and comparison of a detected sound level at the location and the stored ambient noise trigger level threshold value. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

  • Patent number: 10120427
Abstract: A payment reader includes a power management system to control the power mode of the payment reader. The power management system can transition the payment reader between a sleep mode, a low power mode and a full power mode. The power management system can use a low power mode reference counter to determine when to transition from the full power mode to the low power mode and a sleep mode reference counter to determine when to transition from the low power mode to the sleep mode. When the low power mode reference counter reaches zero, the power management system deactivates a payment processing subsystem to transition to the low power mode. Similarly, when the sleep mode reference counter reaches zero, the power management system deactivates a payment reader system to transition to the sleep mode.

  • Patent number: 10114659
Abstract: Examples provide for automatically provisioning hosts in a cloud environment. A cloud daemon generates a cloud host-state configuration, for a given cloud instance of a host, stored on a cloud metadata service prior to first boot of the given cloud instance of the host. A first boot of a plurality of cloud instances of hosts is performed using a stateless, master boot image lacking host-specific configuration data. On completion of the first boot of a given cloud instance of a host, the cloud host-state configuration is installed on the master boot image to generate a self-configured boot image including host-specific configuration data for the given cloud instance of the host. A second boot is performed on the given cloud instance of the host by executing the self-configured boot image to automatically provision the given cloud instance of the host in the cloud environment.

  • Patent number: 10108247
Abstract: A control system includes a housing engaged to a mounting surface, a sensor contained within the housing, a microcontroller unit connected to the sensor, a server in communication with the sensor, and a terminal device in communication with the server. The system starts in an idle mode with the microcontroller having low power consumption. A gesture by a user associated with the mounting surface switches or toggles the operating mode of the control system into a ready mode. In the ready mode, the microcontroller has higher power consumption so as to connect the sensor to the server, and gestures by the user associated with the mounting surface can control the terminal device. The system alerts the switch in operating mode and filters background environment so only gestures are interpreted for switching operation mode or for issuing commands of the terminal device.

  • Patent number: 10048970
Abstract: Certain aspects direct to systems and methods for performing boot configuration of a thin client device with a portable storage device, such as a universal serial bus (USB) storage device. The system includes a computing device functioning as a thin client device, which has an interface under a protocol, such as the USB interface, allowing the portable storage device to be connected to the computing device via the interface. The portable storage device stores configuration data for configuring the computing device. Before booting, the computing device checks if the configuration data exists in a local storage device. If not, the computing device attempts to access the portable storage device, in order to automatically retrieve the configuration data from the portable storage device. Once the configuration data is obtained, the computing device may proceed with booting, and configure the computing device based on information of the configuration data without manual intervention.

  • Patent number: 10042384
Abstract: A clock synchronization system and methods including an algorithm, or protocol, that synchronizes to any source of time without the need of estimating frequency errors and only performing frequency adaptions. Specifically, a clock synchronization protocol synchronizes networked nodes without explicit estimation of the clock skews and steep corrections on the time. The algorithm is guaranteed to converge even in the presence of timing loops which allow different clients to share timing information and even collectively outperform individual clients when the time source has large jitter.
