  • Patent number: 7936771
Abstract: A method and system for transmitting frames using a fiber channel switch element is provided. The switch element includes a port having a receive segment and a transmit segment, wherein the fiber channel switch element determines if a port link has been reset; determines if a flush state has been enabled for the port; and removes frames from a buffer, if the flush state has been enabled for the port. For a flush state operation, frames are removed from a receive buffer of the fiber channel port as if it is a typical fiber channel frame transfer. The removed frames are sent to a processor for analysis. The method also includes, setting a control bit for activating frame removal from the transmit buffer; and diverting frames that are waiting in the transmit buffer and have not been able to move from the transmit buffer.

  • Patent number: 7929429
Abstract: A routing mechanism, service or system operable in a distributed networking environment. One preferred environment is a content delivery network (CDN) wherein the present invention provides improved connectivity back to an origin server, especially for HTTP traffic. In a CDN, edge servers are typically organized into regions, with each region comprising a set of content servers that preferably operate in a peer-to-peer manner and share data across a common backbone such as a local area network (LAN). The inventive routing technique enables an edge server operating within a given CDN region to retrieve content (cacheable, non-cacheable and the like) from an origin server more efficiently by selectively routing through the CDN's own nodes, thereby avoiding network congestion and hot spots.

  • Patent number: 7916647
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that facilitates automatic adjustment of logical channels in a Fiber Channel (FC) network. During operation, the system receives FC data frames. A respective data frame is associated with a logical channel. The bandwidth on an FC link can be allocated into a plurality of logical channels, and a respective logical channel is associated with a dedicated buffer and can transport a plurality of data flows with data frames of variable length. The system then identifies a slow data flow in a first logical channel. Next, the system assigns the slow data flow to a second logical channel, thereby preventing the slow data flow from slowing down other data flows in the first logical channel. The system subsequently forwards the data frames in the slow data flow on the second logical channel onto an outgoing link.

  • Patent number: 7907631
Abstract: An access control method applicable to a network including a plurality of communication terminals for achieving simplification in processing, improvement in response, and efficient use of bands is provided. In a terminal station, a transmission information generating section generates predetermined transmission information based on the amount of data stored in a buffer section. A packet transmitting section generates a packet including data and the transmission information for transmission to another terminal station. In a control station, a packet receiving section receives the packet transmitted by the terminal station. A transmission information obtaining section analyzes the received packet to obtain the transmission information and, based on the transmission information, determines whether the band currently allocated is to be changed. If a change is required, a packet transmitting section transmits a packet reporting a newly-allocated band to the terminal stations.

  • Patent number: 7899034
Abstract: A plurality of base station devices are linked together and synchronized to facilitate communication between the respective base station devices and respective downlink subscriber stations. According to one embodiment of the invention, one of the base station devices is designated as a master device, and the other base station devices are designated as slave devices. The respective base station devices are connected to each other by means of a synchronization bus. The master base station device then generates and broadcasts a future time stamp value, which is received by the respective slave base station devices. When the time stamp counter in the master base station device reaches the transmitted value, a control signal is broadcast over the synchronization bus. The slave base station devices then retrieve the time stamp value and reset their respective local time stamp counters to the received value. In this manner, the base station devices are synchronized.

  • Patent number: 7889753
Abstract: A multiple access technique for a wireless communication system establishes separate channels by defining different time intervals for different channels. In a transmitted reference system different delay periods may be defined between transmitted reference pulses and associated data pulses for different channels. In addition, a multiple access technique may employ a common reference pulse for multiple channels in a transmitted reference system. Another multiple access technique assigns different pulse repetition periods to different channels. One or more of these techniques may be employed in an ultra-wide band system.

  • Patent number: 7881272
Abstract: This invention suppresses increase in power consumption and reduces the time it takes until a controller is usable when starting the operation of console main unit from the standby state by the controller through BT communication. When a console main unit 10 is started up from the standby state by a controller through BT communication, a main CPU 64 of the console main unit 10 reads in and runs a controller connection managing program after the BT driver is read-in and run. Upon reception of a logical layer connection request signal from the controller, the main CPU 64 stores that logical layer connection request signal in main memory 65, reads in and runs the controller connection managing program, reads in terminal identification information from the main memory 65, establishes a logical layer connection through BT communication, and makes a communication module 79 transmit a logical layer connection enable signal.

  • Patent number: 7876776
Abstract: A serial intelligent cell (SIC) and a connection topology for local area networks using Electrically-conducting media. A local area network can be configured from a plurality of SIC's interconnected so that all communications between two adjacent SIC's is both point-to-point and bidirectional. Each SIC can be connected to one or more other SIC's to allow redundant communication paths. Communications in different areas of a SIC network are independent of one another, so that, unlike current bus topology and star topology, there is no fundamental limit on the size or extent of a SIC network. Each SIC can optionally be connected to one or more data terminals, computers, telephones, sensors, actuators, etc., to facilitate interconnectivity among such devices. Networks according to the present invention can be configured for a variety of applications, including a local telephone system, remote computer bus extender, multiplexers, PABX/PBX functionality, security systems, and local broadcasting services.

  • Patent number: 7869397
Abstract: A medium access contention protocol that is highly beneficial in wireless networks and particularly in wireless networks that employ a fixed minimum burst size such as OFDM wireless networks. In one embodiment, a MAC protocol is a demand-assigned protocol that maximizes utilization of the bus medium (the allocated frequency spectrum.) Each data communication device (DCD) in the network communicates with a central access point (AP). Multiple DCDs may request access from the AP in the same request access (RA) burst. Each of the multiple DCDs transmits its access request to the AP within a frequency domain channel in the RA burst that is orthogonal to the frequency domain channels used by the other DCDs requesting access. Each DCD includes channel training information in the access request burst to allow the AP and/or DCD to adapt to rapid variations in channel characteristics.
