  • Patent number: 7706292
Abstract: A test packet generator of an entry device generates a delay test packet including priority information. A test packet transmitter of the entry device transmits the delay test packet to an exit device through a route corresponding to the priority information. A test packet receiver of the exit device receives the delay test packet. A reply packet transmitter of the exit device returns a reply-delay test packet toward the entry device through the same route in the counter direction. A reply packet receiver of the entry device receives the reply-delay test packet. A delay calculator of the entry device calculates a delay time on the basis of the time of transmitting the delay test packet and the time of receiving the reply-delay test packet. A route changer of the entry device changes routing appropriately on the basis of the delay time.

  • Patent number: 7688850
Abstract: A method is disclosed that enables a user to set their “away” or auto-reply messages for two or more communications services (e.g., e-mail, voice mail, etc.) in one action. Separate actions are required in the prior art to change each outgoing message for every distinct communication service. The illustrative embodiment of the present invention is a method that enables a user to change the auto-reply message for multiple communication services with less effort than was required for multiple services in the prior art. In accordance with the illustrative embodiment, a text auto-reply message intended for e-mail is automatically converted into an abbreviated form for instant messaging and wireless text services and into audio for services like telephony. Furthermore, the illustrative embodiment enables the automatic translation of messages into different natural languages, and can apply rules so that the resulting messages are used appropriately.

  • Patent number: 7675917
Abstract: Discloses is a method for providing a packet data service in a wireless communication system. A packet data service node (PDSN) or a home agent (HA) allocates an IP (Internet Protocol) address to a mobile station and then registers the allocated IP address information in a DNS (Domain Naming System) server along with a domain name of the mobile station. Alternatively, upon receiving an accounting request message from the packet data service node, an AAA (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) server registers the IP address information of the mobile station in the DNS server in association with the domain name of the mobile station. Thus, a correspondent node (CN), though it does not recognize the IP address of the mobile station, can access the mobile station using the domain name.

  • Patent number: 7672222
Abstract: A data communications architecture employing serializers and deserializers that reduces data communications latency. In an illustrative implementation, the data communications architecture communicates data across communications links. The architecture maintains various mechanisms to promote data communications speed and to avoid communication link down time. These mechanisms perform the functions including but not limited to handling uncertain data arrival times, detecting single bit and multi-bit errors, handling communications link failures, addressing failed link training, identifying and marking data as corrupt, and identifying and processing successful data transactions across the communications link.

Abstract: A double data rate SMII circuit comprises a transmit circuit, responsive to a clock signal, that samples serial transmit data on a clock rising edge to generate a first transmit serial stream. The transmit circuit, responsive to the clock signal, samples the serial transmit data on a clock falling edge to generate a second transmit serial stream. A receive circuit, responsive to the clock signal, generates a receive serial stream from two receive data streams. The receive serial stream having a first operating frequency, each of the two receive data streams having a second operating frequency. The first operating frequency is about twice the second operating frequency. A transmit port, corresponding to the transmit circuit, includes a single terminal to communicate the serial transmit data to the transmit circuit. • Patent number: 7664130
Abstract: The present invention eliminates a transmission-waiting operation which is unnecessary while accommodating a prioritized traffic. Although a communication station enters a transmission-disallowed state in response to detection of a signal addressed to another station in accordance with medium access control based on CSMA, if the communication station receives a frame transmitted with priority to a local station during the transmission waiting, it cancels the transmission-disallowed state, sends back a frame responding the frame transmitted with priority and effectively operates a transmission prioritized period. The communication station starts a search procedure to perform a processing of evading duplication of the transmission prioritized periods if it judges a possibility of a problem occurring in a time zone in which reception with priority is possible.

  • Patent number: 7660282
Abstract: Techniques for congestion control are disclosed. In one embodiment, a base station allocates a shared resource using a combination of zero or more individual grants and zero or more common grants, and generates a busy signal in response to loading conditions that exceed a pre-determined level. In another embodiment, a subset of transmitting mobile stations reduce their transmission rate in response to a busy signal. The subset may include autonomous transmission, commonly granted transmission, individually granted transmission, or any combination thereof. In various embodiments, rate adjustment may be probabilistic or deterministic. In one embodiment, a rate table is deployed, and a mobile station decreases or increases the transmission rate from one rate in the table to a lower or higher rate in the table, respectively, in response to the busy signal. Various other aspects are also presented.

  • Patent number: 7643509
Abstract: Provided is a distributed and asynchronous implicit token carrier sense multiple access/collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol guaranteeing quality of service for both real time and non-real time traffic. The implicit token CSMA/CA protocol allocates a band in an entire bandwidth to voice traffic and allows the remaining bands to be used for data traffic. The implicit token CSMA/CA protocol includes applying a token passing protocol to transmit voice traffic in real time by having a band in an entire bandwidth allocated using a predetermined data frame and applying a CSMA/CA mechanism to transmit data traffic in non-real time by employing remaining bands not allocated to the voice traffic using another predetermined data frame.

  • Patent number: 7623546
Abstract: A method of improving latency time of a data transfer between a sender and a receiver, receiving an odd number of data segments from among a plurality of data segments the receiver determines if it is waiting for a further data segment of less than full size. The determination is based on a total number of data segments received, an amount of information expected in the data transfer, and a maximum segment size. If the receiver is waiting for a further data segment of less than full size then sending a message is sent to the sender that triggers the transmission by the sender of said less than full size data segment.

  • Patent number: 7620065
Abstract: A method and application for selecting a network from one or more candidate networks is disclosed. Information is gathered from one or more database relating to each of the one or more candidate networks and is harmonized in relation to an associated network type. The harmonized information is evaluated to allocate a weight to each of the candidate networks. The weight represents the desirability of each of the candidate networks. The required resources to connect to each of the candidate networks are determined from information contained within the service-provider database, from information obtained by the end-user, and by self-adaptive learning algorithms. At least one of the candidate networks is selected based on the allocated weight of the candidate network and the application attempts to connect to the candidate network. The method and application incorporates the ability to control and integrate a plurality of services on a user device via the candidate network.

  • Patent number: 7616640
Abstract: Service requests, which are used to properly process a network access request received from a client, are processed by routing the service requests between at least two service component instances according to a load balancing algorithm. Load balancing includes: calculating a first ticket amount and a second ticket amount; assigning the first ticket amount to a first instance and the second ticket amount to a second instance; using a selection scheme to select an instance having a ticket amount greater than a threshold amount to process a service request; decrementing the ticket amount corresponding to the instance selected; and scheduling the instance selected to receive a service request. The present invention may further include distinguishing between operable and inoperable instances, providing ticket amounts that are not based on performance ratings to inoperable instances, and providing ticket amounts that are based on performance ratings to operable instances.
