  • Patent number: 6662715
Abstract: A slider link press includes an oscillation link operating about a fulcrum shaft and an eccentric crank pin. A connecting link connects the oscillation link to a slide. The oscillating link and fulcrum shaft act to increase press torque, reduce downward press speed, and increases upward press speed thereby maintaining cycle time. The eccentric crank pin operates the oscillation link, aids in torque increase, and provides reciprocating movement to the slide. The slide includes pivotable slide gibs that engage reciprocal fixed gibs to maintain parallel surface contact and absorb and eliminate eccentric loads on the slide and the press. Stays and spacers align sides of the press and eliminate flexing under load while absorbing and distributing deformation pressure.

  • Patent number: 6662619
Abstract: A mold clamping device for a pressing machine which bends a plate material inserted between upper and lower molds. The mold clamping device comprises a main frame (1) of integral structure, a holding ram (13) mounted on the upper half of the mainframe (1) and for supporting the upper mold (8) for vertical movement, a pair of arch-type thick springs (6) vertically mounted on the upper half of the main frame, and a crank mechanism (10) with which the upper end of each of the arch-type thick spring is connected through a crank pin (17). The crank mechanism creates a rotational force at a position near the dead center of the crank pins (17). This rotational force resiliently deforms the arch-type thick springs (6) which in turn create a resilient force for pressing the upper mold (8) against the lower mold (9). This provides an accurate and stable clamping force between the upper and lower molds.

  • Patent number: 6651709
Abstract: A retractable debarking block for a debarker having an enclosure to receive logs for debarking in order to vary the aggressiveness of the debarking process. The block member has a debarking surface with projecting teeth and is positionable within the enclosure of the debarker to be movable between a retracted position in which the debarking surface does not contact logs in the enclosure and an exposed position in which the debarking surface is exposed to engage logs. The block member is fittable into a rotor or drum type debarker. An actuator is provided to move the debarking surface between the retracted and exposed positions. The actuator is adapted to permit automatic movement of the debarking surface toward the retracted position if the force exerted by the logs exceeds a pre-set limit to prevent damage to the blocks and the logs. Preferably, the actuator is an airbag or telescoping cylinder operable over a range of pressures to permit adjustment of the pre-set limit.

  • Patent number: 6647870
Abstract: An electric motor and hydraulic pump/motor are combined on a torque level, a press machine is controlled with controllability of an electric motor, and kinetic energy of a slide is regenerated during braking without constraints of slide pressurization or an amount of energy. A screw press drives a slide through a screw mechanism made up of a drive nut and a driven screw. The drive nut is provided with a ring gear integral therewith and this ring gear is engaged with a gear provided for a drive axis of an electric motor and a gear provided for the drive axis of a hydraulic pump/motor. The hydraulic pump/motor is connected to a constant high pressure source that generates a quasi-constant pressure hydraulic liquid and a low pressure source. This allows the electric motor and hydraulic pump/motor to be combined on a torque level.

  • Patent number: 6640701
Abstract: Catering in a transport vehicle like an aircraft involves collecting mixed waste including solids (e.g. left-over food portions, food wastes, napkins, disposable cutlery) and liquids (e.g. beverage rests), without separation. These wastes are disposed of into an apparatus including a receiving container with a filter and separating element at the bottom, a waste shaft leading into the container, a press arrangement with flap doors, pressure pistons which press the press arrangement and flap doors onto the waste in the container to compact the waste, and a drain and coupling system at the bottom of the container. As the waste is compacted, liquids drain down through the filter, oils and fats are removed by the separating element, and non-oily liquids are removed through the coupling system to the vacuum disposal system or the gray water drain line of the vehicle. A control unit controls the overall operation.
