Abstract: A system includes a server environment and a management station. The server environment includes hardware servers. At least some of the servers can be characterized by a hierarchy of partitions. The management station provides an administrative interface. The administrative interface provides a display that displays alternate views of a graphical representation of the server environment. Each of the views has graphical partition elements corresponding to at least some of the partitions nested with graphic server elements corresponding to at least some of the hardware servers. At least some of the graphical partition elements include links that, when activated, cause the graphical representation to switch to another of its views in which is highlighted a graphical partition element that was not highlighted in the previous view.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method to display a dynamic list of virtual objects is described. An activity relating to a management object is detected. A dynamic list of virtual objects is displayed on a screen. The virtual objects are possible recipients of the management object. A determination is made as to whether the activity relating to the management object is terminated. The display of the dynamic list of virtual objects on the screen is terminated when the activity relating to the management object is terminated.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for automated field data collection. A client system may download graphical representations and space hierarchy information associated with the project from a server. A user may open, on the client system, an area where the field data collection is to occur (e.g., a room in a building), whereby the client system automatically navigates to a pre-defined region of the graphical representation (e.g., an architectural floor plan). For each discrepancy identified, the user may touch a corresponding location on the graphical representation and select a discrepancy type from a list. The user may then associate additional data files, such as image files, audio files, video files, and GPS coordinates with the discrepancy. An organization responsible for correcting the discrepancy may be automatically assigned and/or notified based on an association made on the server.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for archiving and retrieving digital media items based on episodic memory for predefined associated groups of one or more people. The method and system may comprise identifying one or more groups to which an archiving user belongs; receiving a user input identifying select groups to which a digital media item to be archived; receiving archiving input data identifying the digital media item to be archived for the group; generating index information using the received user archiving input; storing the index information in association with the identified digital media item; repeating the reception of archiving input data, the generation of the index information and the storing of the index information for the digital media item; receiving retrieval input data representing a selection of candidate values; and using the selections and the identified group to retrieve and output digital media items that match the selection.

Abstract: The presentation of headers for groups of locations in a library comprising a collection of locations is disclosed. One disclosed embodiment comprises receiving a request to organize a library into groups according to a selected property, and organizing the locations into groups such that locations within a selected group have a common value of the selected property. If the common value of the selected property for the selected group corresponds to an object distinct from the locations in the group, then a first type of group header configured to accept a first set of user inputs associated with the header is displayed. Otherwise, a second type of group header configured to accept a second, different set of user inputs is displayed.

The system includes a display unit that displays information; an operation unit that is located separately from the display unit and that allows a user to perform user operations including a directional operation and a turning operation; and a receiver that receives user instructions for making entry of plural characters that can be displayed on the display unit, based on displayed content displayed on the display unit and the user operations made with the operation unit.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and logic are provided to generate a context enhanced social network (CESN) participant list for meeting participants. One method includes obtaining a list of participants and a meeting context and identifying expert knowledge that is required for the context. Degrees of associations between a first participant and the other participants are calculated based on a level of expert knowledge of the participants. The CESN participant list is generated and displayed for the first meeting participant based on the calculated degrees of associations of the other participants. The method can be repeated such that a unique CESN participant list is generated for each meeting participant based on his perspective in relation to the other meeting participants and based on the current context of the meeting. The CESN participant lists may also be dynamically updated when a change in meeting context is detected.

Abstract: A control device for safely controlling an electrical motor during decelerating and stopping operations of the motor. The control device includes a control part for controlling the decelerating and stopping operations; a monitoring part for monitoring the operations of the electric motor; and a judging part for judging whether the velocity of the electric motor monitored by the monitoring part is abnormal while the control part controls the motor so as to decelerate and stop the motor. The judging part forcibly cuts off power to the electric motor, via a circuit breaker, when the judging part judges that the velocity of the motor is abnormal.

Abstract: Systems and methods integrate disparate backup devices with a unified interface. In certain examples, a management console manages data from various backup devices, while retaining such data in its native format. The management console can display a hierarchical view the client devices and/or their data and can further provide utilities for processing the various data formats. A data structure including fields for storing both metadata common to the client device data and value-added metadata can be used to mine or process the data of the disparate client devices. The unified single platform and interface reduces the need for multiple data management products and/or customized data utilities for each individual client device and provides a single pane of glass view into data management operations. Integrating the various types of storage formats and media allows a user to retain existing storage infrastructures and further facilitates scaling to meet long-term management needs.

Abstract: A mobile terminal including a touch screen and a method of controlling an operation thereof are provided. The method of controlling an operation of a mobile terminal includes: displaying a thumbnail image corresponding to an image file on a touch screen to be randomly overlapped; selecting any one of thumbnail images by touch input; and displaying the selected thumbnail image together with an option icon for selecting a quick menu to be distinguished from other thumbnail images. Therefore, a list of stored image files can display thumbnail images in a new arrangement manner and it possible to quickly enter a related menu from the thumbnail image.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for displaying HVAC information. One embodiment provides a method for displaying HVAC information including obtaining data indicative of a plurality of HVAC components of an HVAC system. For example, this data may be maintained by a building management system. The method further includes defining data indicative of a display object for rendering on a client display, the display object including a plurality of geometrically arranged indicator blocks, wherein each indicator block is associated with a respective HVAC component. For the purposes of this display object, each indicator block is bound with respective source of comfort level data for its associated HVAC component. Display characteristics are defined for each indicator block responsive to the comfort level data. The display characteristics are selectively modified responsive to changes in the comfort level data. The resulting display object is referred to as a “comfort map” for the present purposes.

Abstract: A method of displaying a calendar entry of an electronic calendar application is disclosed. The method includes determining if a user of the electronic calendar application is within a specified distance of a location of an appointment corresponding to the calendar entry at a specified time prior to the appointment. In response to determining that the user is within the specified distance at the specified time, displaying an indication with the calendar entry that the appointment is face-to-faceable. In response to determining that the user is not within the specified distance at the specified time, displaying an indication with the calendar entry that the appointment is not face-to-faceable.

Abstract: A method of browsing a plurality of media items is disclosed. At least one of the media items being associated with a plurality of tag values, each tag value having a level. The method constructs a hierarchical tree structure of tag values according to the levels of the tag values, such that any tag value on any branch of the tree structure from a first tag value is associated with a media item with which said first tag value is associated. At least a first portion of the constructed tree structure is displayed in a graphical user interface. User input is detected to change the level of a second tag value in the displayed portion. The tree structure is reconstructed according to the changed levels of the tag values, such that any tag value on any branch from a third tag value remains associated with a media item with which said third tag value is associated. At least a second portion of the reconstructed tree structure is then displayed in the graphical user interface.

Abstract: A method use on a computer having a graphical operating environment is provided for displaying the content items of a container. The method includes enumerating the items that exist within the container or folder and determining whether a graphical preview can be generated for the item. If so, the item is added to a list of candidates as preview items for the container or folder. The items are then evaluated, and a desired number are chosen for display based upon a sort criteria. Prior to being displayed, the graphical preview for each item is sized and is located on the background image. The above method results in a container having graphical or pictorial indicia of the container contents on the outside thereof. These indicia allow a computer user to more readily determine the contents of the container or folder without having to open the container or folder.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide several novel techniques for manipulating radial menus in graphical user interfaces of an application. In some embodiments, radial menus include multiple selectable items arranged about an internal location (e.g., a center of the radial menu). The novel radial menu techniques of some embodiments include (i) non-uniform spacing of menu items, (ii) the use of shading or highlighting within a region associated with an item to indicate the present selectability of the item, and (iii) the use of radial gestures for opening sub-menus and the subsequent display of the sub-menu.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for bookmarking information search results on page level and sharing these results between other users. The method includes at least: entering a search query; sending the query to a search engine; and receiving a search result having a list of data files matching to the search query. The method comprises at least: paginating the content of the data files retrieved; rendering page previews of the data files; selecting the pages to be previewed; and previewing the matching pages associated with the data files retrieved; then bookmarking selected preview pages and selecting one or multiple of these pages to be shared; and finally sharing selected preview pages.
