  • Patent number: 4123828
Abstract: First and second tab-operated members are mounted longitudinally on, and pivotally supported at their front ends directly by, the respective wings of the slider body and are engaged with first and second pull tabs respectively. The first tab-operated member has a locking pawl at its rear end which is spring loaded to project into the guide channel in the slider body. Both first and second tab-operated members have tongues extending from their front ends and loosely received in an offset cross-channel in the neck of the slider body, with the second tab-operated member tongue disposed forwardly of the first tab-operated member tongue for movement into and out of engagement therewith. The locking pawl can be retracted away from the guide channel to unlock the slider upon exertion of a pull on either first or second pull tab.

  • Patent number: 4123829
Abstract: A pair of sliders to be arranged reversely to each other on a pair of fastener stringers so as to be padlocked together in abutting engagement with each other upon full closure of the fastener. Each slider has a forwardly projecting link portion formed on the front end of its body and having an eye formed transversely therethrough. On one of the side faces of the link portion there is formed a forwardly directed ledge extending radially or diametrically of the eye. Upon full closure of the fastener, the link portions of the two sliders interlock, with their opposed ledges in close contact with each other, to hold their eyes in axial alignment for the insertion of the padlock shackle. The link portion of each slider has its bottom end formed into a tongue which can be received in a groove formed in the body of the other slider.

  • Patent number: 4123826
Abstract: A separable fastener is disclosed which has the form of a tape having a plurality of laterally adjacent uniformly corrugated strips. Adjoining strips are staggered relative to one another so that the ridges of one strip are laterally aligned with the depressions or spaces between the ridges of adjoining strips, with the adjoining strips being joined together at their cross-over points. A second tape of identical construction can be joined to the first tape by merely pressing the two tapes together in a face-to-face relationship. There is also disclosed apparatus and a method for manufacturing the separable fastener which includes means for passing a strip of thermoplastic material through mutually engaging rolling dies which create the corrugations.

  • Patent number: 4122585
Abstract: The invention is a single-action double-lock snap, a snap hook having a lock arm. The hook includes a shank with a hook at one end of the shank. The other end of the snap is connected to a cable or a lanyard and in use, the hook is connected to an anchor eye or the like. To avoid accidental disengagement of the hook from the anchor eye, a lock arm, or gate, is pivoted on the shank of the hook to reach across the throat of the hook to engage the point of the hook. This lock arm will thus normally lock the hook upon an anchor eye. However, the possibility exists that the hook can be accidentally opened to release the hook from the anchor eye whenever the snap is swung about while connected to the anchor eye. A detent is pivotally mounted upon the shank to bear against a seat on the lock arm whenever the lock arm is extended to close the throat of the hook. When the detent is so seated, the lock arm cannot be opened.

  • Patent number: 4121326
Abstract: A slider for use in a slide fastener prevents jamming of a foreign matter within the slider between fastener elements and inner element-guide portions of the slider. The slider has a diverging end and a contracted end, and the diverging end has two openings which are partitioned by an interconnecting web. The two openings lead to two channels which are joined together in the half portion of the slider on the side close to the aforesaid contracted end. The separated fastener elements secured to fastener tapes, respectively, and introduced through the aforesaid channels into the slider are brought into engagement with each other in the aforesaid half portion of the slider. In such a case, a foreign matter, such as a piece of cloth, often jams between the fastener elements and the inner element-guiding portions of the slider.

  • Patent number: 4117574
Abstract: A connector joins a fish line to a leader without the need of knotting the fish line. The fish line is passed through a cylindrical opening located at one end of a round shaft, then wound around several spiral grooves in the surface of the shaft, then passed through at least two lock holes which are approximately perpendicular to the cylindrical opening and are recessed so that the fish line does not protrude out when passing from one lock hole to another lock hole. A leader is secured to a leader opening at the other end of the shaft. A soft plastic tubing may be inserted into the cylindrical opening to prevent the weakening of the fish line while trolling.

  • Patent number: 4112554
Abstract: A slide fastener comprising a box-and-pin separable coupling and an automatically locking slider. The slider has a locking member pivoted at one end on the slider body and having first and second legs formed adjacent its other end in side-by-side disposition. The first leg of the locking member is normally spring-biased into a position of interference with the pin-side row of fastener elements when the slider is riding on both rows of fastener elements, and the second leg is disposed opposite to the box-side row of fastener elements. When the slider is moved into abutting contact with the box member of the separable coupling, the second leg of the locking member rides onto a protuberance formed on the guide bar of the box member, so that the first leg of the locking member is retracted from its interference position against the bias of the spring to permit smooth insertion of the pin member of the separable coupling into the box member through the slider.

  • Patent number: 4112556
Abstract: A dual zipper construction provides a double closure to discourage opening of the zippered enclosure. The zippers co-extend, one above the other, with the upper zipper closing in a direction opposite that of the lower zipper. Each zipper has its engaging surface mounted on a pair of flaps, with one flap being longer than the other. When assembled, the longer flap on the upper zipper overlies the shorter flap on the lower zipper thus offsetting the opening and closing tabs of the two zippers, facilitating closure.
