  • Patent number: 11357540
Abstract: A port fixation device is disclosed and includes a body portion and a plug. The body portion includes a circular portion, a first tab, and a second tab. The circular portion defines an aperture which is configured to allow a surgical access port to extend therethrough. The first tab and the second tab are disposed in mechanical cooperation with the circular portion. Movement of the first tab with respect to the second tab from a first position to a second position causes a diameter of the aperture to change from a first size to a second size. The first size is smaller than the second size, and the first position of the first tab is its rest position. The plug is disposed in mechanical engagement with the body portion, and has sufficient elasticity to remain engaged with the body portion when the first tab is in the first position and in the second position.

  • Patent number: 11357897
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing a medical procedure within a patient's body that involves a thoracic duct including an ostium communicating with the patient's venous system. A distal end of a catheter is introduced through the patient's venous system into a body lumen adjacent the ostium of the thoracic duct. An expandable member on the distal end of the tubular member may be expanded adjacent the ostium, e.g., within the body lumen or the thoracic duct itself, and used to isolate the thoracic duct from the body lumen, whereupon a medical procedure may be performed via the thoracic duct. For example, lymphatic fluid may be removed from the thoracic duct through a lumen of the tubular member and/or one or more agents may be introduced into the thoracic duct through the tubular member.

  • Patent number: 11351344
Abstract: A rigid hollow tubular adapter releasably attached at a longitudinal nozzle end to a flexible tube during equine nasogastric intubation comprising an annular sleeve having a stationary tubular member and a slidable tubular member. The slidable tubular member is delimited at its ends by the stationary tubular member and a detent member disposed between an equine reflux drainage hole and a longitudinal mouthpiece end. Operator's puffs of airflow through a mouthpiece urges the slidable member to slide toward the detent member closing the equine drainage hole to enable passage of medication into the equine stomach. Equine reflux urges the slidable tubular member to slide toward the stationary tubular member opening the reflux drainage hole to divert equine backflow downwardly through the equine backflow drainage hole preventing passage of equine reflux into the operator's mouth.

  • Patent number: 11344667
Abstract: A personal hygiene device comprises a tubular body constructed of a substantially watertight flexible material. The tubular body defines a cavity. An opening in the tubular body provides access to the cavity, which opening is selectively closable to create a watertight seal. A spray member, having a first end and a second end, is operatively connected to the tubular body at the first end. A channel in the spray member extends from the first end to the second end. The channel is exposed to the cavity at the first end. The second end of the spray member has openings that are exposed to the channel. Material in the cavity can travel from the cavity through the channel in the spray member, and exit through the openings in its second end. An adjusting means is selectively operable to control the amount of material that flows into the channel.

  • Patent number: 11344675
Abstract: Disclosed is an injection device for delivering a medicament from a syringe contained within a housing, the device being configured to move the syringe through the housing to cause insertion of a needle of the syringe into a user's skin and move a syringe bung through a syringe body, delivering medicament through the needle. The device includes: a plunger engaging the bung; a sleeve around the plunger; an insertion spring biasing the sleeve to the housing; and a delivery spring biasing the plunger to the sleeve. A release mechanism releases the sleeve from the housing to commence insertion and release the plunger from the sleeve, following insertion, delivering medicament. A velocity regulator regulates the plunger upon release and disengages during delivery, and includes a screw thread associated with the sleeve or plunger and one or more thread engaging members formed on the other of the sleeve and the plunger.

  • Patent number: 11337894
Abstract: Improved apparatus for use with animal medication in fluid form, which is particularly beneficial for medications having a relatively high viscosity. The disclosed syringe adapter has an opening that is relatively large, as compared to a conventional needle, and thus affixing the disclosed syringe adapter to a syringe improves syringeability of higher-viscosity medications. When the disclosed syringe adapter is affixed to a pistol-grip or tab-handled syringe, the medication withdrawn into the pistol-grip syringe can be more easily administered from the syringe barrel (noting that the syringe adapter will be replaced with a needle prior to injecting the medication).
