  • Patent number: 7911941
Abstract: A router interposed between a subnet and a backbone network, where the subnet includes a plurality of layer 2 switches and a plurality of terminals. The terminals communicate with each other via the layer 2 switches and a master router, wherein the router connects to the master router, the subnet and the backbone network, and originally operates as a backup router, but can be transitioned to operate as a redundant master router. The router includes a severance detection unit for detecting severance between the layer 2 switches and a redundant function control unit which, when severance has been detected: (i) resumes interrupted communication between the backbone network and the subnet via the router, (ii) receives, from the master router, a copy of an address resolution protocol (ARP) table, and stores the copy of the ARP table in the router, and (iii) transitions the router into a redundant master router.

  • Patent number: 7899008
Abstract: A method (18) for scheduling packet data transmissions in a wireless communication system wherein a per-user Priority Function (PF) (24) is based on a channel condition indicated by a Rate Request Indicator (RRI). The method also considers fairness criteria dictated by predetermined Quality of Service (QOS) requirements. In one embodiment, the rate request indicator is a Data Rate Request (DRR). In another embodiment, the rate request indicator is Carrier-to-Interference (C/I) information. In the exemplary embodiment, the base station calculates a Priority Function (PF) for the multiple mobile users. Each PF is a function of the rate request indicator and the projected throughput of a given mobile user. In one embodiment, the predicted throughput is calculated by T?=(T?)?.

  • Patent number: 7894431
Abstract: Described herein are a system, method, and computer readable medium for correlating asynchronous communication messages between a mobile communication device and a data source over a network. The mobile communication device executes an application to provide interaction with the data source based on the content of the communication messages. The system includes a message set and a message manager. The message set is configured to correlate an asynchronous request message of the communication messages with a corresponding asynchronous response message of the communication messages. The asynchronous request message has a first correlation identifier when transmitted and the asynchronous response message has a second correlation identifier when received; the first and second correlation identifiers form part of the message set and specify a mapping that correlates a data element of the asynchronous request message and a data element of the asynchronous response message, respectively, with a data instance.
