Abstract: Methods and apparatus for displaying information content in a user interface. The content includes an information panel that contains at least one information element. Information indicating a position within the user interface is used to automatically determine whether to display the information panel in its expanded or collapsed state. The title of the information panel is displayed. The title of the information element is displayed beneath the information panel title when the information panel is displayed in its expanded state. The title of the information element is not displayed when the information panel is displayed in its collapsed state.

Abstract: A capture system captures detectable attributes of a user. A differential system compares the detectable attributes with a normalized model of attributes, wherein the normalized model of attributes characterize normal representative attribute values across a sample of a plurality of users and generates differential attributes representing the differences between the detectable attributes and the normalized model of attributes. Multiple separate avatar creator systems receive the differential attributes and each apply the differential attributes to different base avatars to create custom avatars which reflect a selection of the detectable attributes of the user which are distinguishable from the normalized model of attributes.

Abstract: A system image customization tool provides an efficient and cost effective way to implement a highly customizable system image for a digital device. The system image customization tool controls application installation, device settings, and selection, delivery methods and licensing options for products, applications and services with minimal or no customer interaction from the customer's first out of box experience with the device and through the lifecycle use of the device. The system image customization tool provides retailers, original equipment manufacturers and products, applications and services providers a way to create new distribution channels and partnerships.

Abstract: A method includes displaying a user interface on a touch display, receiving a user input on the touch display, determining whether the user input is associated with a navigational assistance area of the user interface, outputting one or more vibrations, when it is determined that the user input is associated with the navigational assistance area of the user interface, and outputting an auditory navigational cue that corresponds to a name associated with the navigational assistance area, when it is determined that the user input is associated with the navigational assistance area of the user interface.

Abstract: A method including receiving input identifying a panel associated with a software application, the software application including a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and the panel comprising a discrete area of the GUI within which to group software objects to control the software application. Additionally, the method includes processing the input to identify an object of the software objects to be included in the panel. Further, the method includes generating a panel definition including the object and dimensions of the panel, the panel definition to be processed to render the GUI.

Abstract: In one example, a method includes receiving an indication of an input gesture detected at a presence-sensitive input device, where the input gesture includes one or more input points and each input point is detected at a respective location of the presence-sensitive input device. The method may also include determining a focal point of the input gesture, and determining a radius length. The method may also include determining a shape centered at the focal point and having a size determined based on the radius length. The method may also include responding to a change in a geometric property of the shape by scaling information included in a graphical user interface, where the scaling of the information being centered at the focal point.

Abstract: A remote manipulation apparatus includes a main body and a manipulating handle manipulated by a user to move to cover all the orientations from a manipulation basis position defined on a basis of the main body. Movement of the manipulating handle relative to the manipulation basis position corresponds to movement of a pointer image relative to a screen basis position on a screen of a display apparatus. An auxiliary navigational display window includes a specified button image assigned with pointer-pulling information. When the auxiliary navigational display window appears on the screen, the manipulating handle is automatically driven to a position that corresponds to a position of the specified button image on the screen so that the pointer image is moved onto the specified button image that is assigned with the pointer-pulling information.

Abstract: User interfaces for displaying relationships between cells in a grid. In one example embodiment, a user interface includes a grid including rows and columns and a plurality of cells each having a specific position in the grid. A first one of the cells is related to a second one of the cells. The grid is configured to display, upon selection of the first cell or second cell, a visual representation of the relationship between the first cell and the second cell.

Abstract: A project management system and method includes a user interface with “pie slices” and “layers” to provide a matrix view that integrates multiple best practices content. The slices of the pie represent project stages and the matrix view represents layers of best practice content, such as project management, quality assurance, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and other processes. Each cell of the matrix represents best practice information in process, people, and deliverables views. The user loads a project and uses the best practice steps to help with their project implementation. The user interface allows the users to select a best practice layer, then select a project stage cell, and then drill down to view process step details, view people roles information, or work with files that define the project deliverables.

Abstract: A method implemented in a computer infrastructure having computer executable code, includes detecting one of an absence of a virtual universe (VU) occurrence in a VU within a predetermined time period, a special event in the VU and a change of real world status from a previous real world status. Additionally, the method includes determining a VU asset of a VU resident relevant to the VU occurrence, the special event or the previous real world status. Further, the method includes performing an automated asset reduction of the VU asset based on the determining.

Abstract: A navigation system for navigating a three-dimensional (3D) scene that includes a model or object with which a user can interact. The system accommodates and helps both novice and advanced users. To do this, the system allows a user to designate a point on a model and the system moves the view toward that point. A perspective scale is provided that shows the user the relative position of the current view from the starting point of the view to the surface point.

Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for providing a virtual space associated with a user. The apparatus may include a storage to store context information of the user of the virtual space, and a controller to provide, to another user, the virtual space transformed based on the context information of the user when the other user visits the virtual space of the user. The context information may include at least one of a connection time when the user connects to the virtual space, a location of the user during the connection time, a current emotion of the user as determined by the user, and a current status of the user as determined by the user.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for restoring an occluded window in application sharing. The method includes the steps of: detecting whether an unshared window occludes part of all of a shared window; making the unshared window semitransparent by an alpha blending operation in response to detecting an unshared window that occludes part or all of a shared window; changing the value of the alpha factor in the alpha blending operation, thus obtaining two alpha blended images; and restoring the occluded shared window by using the two alpha blended images.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide a mechanism to allow end users to install web applications and websites onto their desktop. In accordance with one or more embodiments, client-side code can be utilized to allow developers associated with a website to define boundaries associated with user interaction, and have those boundaries enforced by a run-time engine. Abstract: A user initiated move action can be detected on a selected graphical object on a flowsheet within a rendered canvas of a graphical user interface. During the user initiated move action, based a predetermined threshold distance between the selected graphical object and the other graphical objects, candidate graphical objects are identified from the other graphical objects. Provided at least one candidate graphical object is identified, at least one proposed connection is visually presented between the selected graphical object and the candidate graphical object in a contrasting visual style to a style for established interconnections between the plurality of graphical objects within the rendered canvas. Upon the user confirming the proposed connection, a new established connection is visually presented in a canvas final state to replace the proposed connection using the style for established interconnections within the rendered canvas between the selected graphical object and the candidate graphical object.

Abstract: According to various embodiments of the invention, parallax and/or three-dimensional effects are added to thumbnail image displays. In at least one embodiment, such effects are applied in a manner that causes the thumbnail images to appear to respond to their display environment. For example, a parallax effect can be applied that responds to current cursor position, scroll position, scroll velocity, orientation of the display device (detected, for example, by position- and/or motion-sensing mechanisms), and/or any other environmental conditions. As another example, thumbnail images can be refocused, and/or a viewpoint for an image can be adjusted, in response to a user clicking on or tapping on particular elements within such images.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided for managing a plurality of applications via a single interface. It is initially identified as to which of a plurality of applications are installed on a computer. A status of each of the applications is then presented via a single graphical user interface.
