Abstract: The present disclosure features methods and systems for updating a taskbar, generated and displayed by a local computer, with a user interface element representative of a remote application executing on a remote computer and application output generated by the remote application. These methods and system include a local client receiving application output generated by a remote application and remote window configuration information, generating an application output window comprising local taskbar grouping configuration information, and updating a taskbar responsive to the local taskbar grouping configuration information.

Abstract: A software application can capture product parameters and attributes in order to allow a non-expert user to create a valid functional system layout in a design space. To enable accurate layouts, the software application can automatically apply all applicable components, connectors, rules, attributes, codes, and behaviors to each component/design element in the design space. The intelligent, object-oriented software can apply rules and behaviors automatically, not only providing an accurate, valid layout, but also optimizing the layout. The intelligent, object-oriented software can recognize required changes effected by a user-driven change, and automatically resolve the layout design.

Abstract: A method includes receiving user input indicating a selection of a first multimedia channel from a set of multimedia channels for display. The method further includes determining a first user-selected audio indicator associated with the first multimedia channel. The method additionally includes providing the first audio indicator for audible output in response to receiving the user input indicating the selection of the first multimedia channel. Another method includes providing a user interface to facilitate an association of one or more audio indicators with one or more corresponding channel selection actions.

Abstract: A software program for use in designing interior and exterior spaces receives user input that is associated with one or more attributes. Subsequent user input, having other attributes, is resolved in light of the first input attributes to create a real-world depiction of design choices in real-time. For example, design choices that conflict with prior design choices are resolved (or modified as necessary) to ensure that each of the prior and present user input choices are represented in an appropriate way. The resolution by the design software is also used to create an accurate parts (and/or price) list so that when the user has completed the design of an exterior or interior space, the design can be submitted directly as an order to be fulfilled. Generally, continual resolution ensures that the user's design intent is captured in an accurate and efficient way in a user interface.

Abstract: First and second objects are displayed on a pressure-sensitive touch-screen display device. An intersection is detected between the objects. Contact by one or more input mechanisms is detected in a region that corresponds to the first displayed object. Pressure applied by at least one input mechanisms is sensed. The depth of the first displayed object is adjusted as a function of the sensed pressure. The depth of the displayed objects are determined at their detected intersection. The determined depths of the displayed objects are compared. Based on a result of comparing the determined depths, data is stored indicating that one of the displayed objects is overlapping the other. In addition, the displayed objects are displayed such that the overlapping displayed object is displayed closer to a foreground of the pressure-sensitive touch-screen display device than the other displayed object.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for providing content previews. One apparatus operates to display one or more user interface controls as a foreground against a background on a display device; receive user input resulting in a user interface state that has an associated action; and display as the background a preview of the associated action. In another aspect, the user input gives focus to a user interface control that has associated content; and a preview of the associated content is displayed without further action on the part of the user. In another aspect, user interface controls are displayed; and giving input focus to a particular user interface control that has associated content causes an apparatus to play a preview of the associated content without further action on the part of a user.

Abstract: Functionality available on an enterprise server is applied to HTML content from a remote server. HTML content is collected from remote servers including remote markup tags upon request from an end user. The HTML content for the remote markup tags is parsed and converted to content formatted for enterprise server functionality. The converted content is executed at the enterprise server. Remote server and enterprise server data are then transmitted to the end user. Tags and/or libraries may be extensible, such that they may be created or modified, and the tags may or may not be included within a supplied library of tags and/or a created library of tags, or any combination thereof.

Abstract: The invention provides two enhancements for the use of favorites during a Web browsing session. A first enhancement identifies when a user is adding a favorite to his favorites list and auto-suggests a category under which the favorite could be stored. A second enhancement allows a user to review his favorites list and see a summary of feed content (RSS or other standard) on each feed enabled page on his favorites list, without requiring the user to link to the page in question.

Abstract: A method of managing agile software development includes displaying assets associated with an agile software development process. Selection of a first link corresponding to a respective asset of the displayed assets is detected; in response, one or more related assets associated with the respective asset are displayed. Selection of a second link corresponding to a first related asset of the one or more related assets is detected; in response, a user interface for editing attributes of the first related asset is displayed, wherein the user interface and the one or more related assets are displayed in a common window.

The invention further relates to a cognitive aid for a mobile computing device having a display screen, the cognitive aid being displayed on the display screen and including an on-screen and/or an audio tip, and being associated with an input vehicle of the mobile computing device. The cognitive aid provides relevant information to the user regarding the input vehicle. The invention still further relates to a method for assisting users of a mobile computing device having a display screen.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for providing a dynamic user interface (UI) to allow a user to select an active diagram shape for insertion into a flowchart or other diagram without leaving the drawing canvas. Through the use of the embodiments presented herein, a diagramming application provides a user with a dynamic UI within the drawing canvas that includes a selection of diagram shapes from a shape gallery located adjacent to the drawing canvas. Using the dynamic UI, the user may select and insert a shape into the diagram without leaving the canvas. Additionally, the user may select a replacement shape from the dynamic UI for replacing an existing diagram shape without leaving the drawing canvas. The dynamic UI is triggered for display next to a cursor when the cursor hovers over or navigates in proximity to a diagram shape, a connection control, or any other UI trigger.

Abstract: A system and method for remotely displaying screen files and for trapping a customized set of operator input is disclosed. A server generates and deploys a plurality of screen files to a remote client. The screen files each include a plurality of display control elements and a list of events to be trapped and forwarded to the server. The list of events may be optimized for each particular screen file. The remote client displays the plurality of display control elements and stores the list of events. For any event that occurs which is included in the list of events, such as a submit data event, the remote client sends data indicative of the event to the server. The server interprets the data indicative of the occurrence of the event, processes the event, and, if appropriate, generates and sends a command to update the displayed representation of the screen file.

Abstract: An operating system providing multi-touch support for (user) applications in a mobile device. In one embodiment, a check of whether the touch screen (in the mobile device) has multi-touch capability is performed. A first interface with multi-touch capability is provided to the (user) applications if the touch screen has multi-touch capability and a second interface with single touch capability being provided if the touch screen does not have multi-touch capability. The first and second interfaces may be provided by corresponding device drivers loaded when the mobile device is initialized with the operating system. A device driver (providing the second interface) is also designed to perform the check and execute another device driver (providing the first interface) if the touch screen has multi-touch capability.

Abstract: A computer-implemented graphical user interface system for generating a database query includes a create region, a plurality of clause-specific regions and a navigation region. The create region may be used to receive a plurality of graphical icons and to create an association between the plurality of graphical icons to define the database query. The plurality of graphical icons may include a plurality of clause-specific icons that identify clauses for the database query and a plurality of table icons that identify sets of data in the database. The plurality of clause-specific interface regions are each associated with a particular clause-specific icon and may be used to receive user input to define one or more parameters associated with the particular clause-specific icon. The navigation region may be used to receive user input to select between the create region and the plurality of clause-specific interface regions.

Abstract: A user is enabled to interact with a virtual world environment using an instant messenger application by enabling a user to enter the virtual world environment using the instant messenger application that includes an instant messaging (IM) user interface, generating and managing an avatar to represent the user in the virtual world environment, monitoring a sub-portion of the virtual world environment corresponding to a current location of the user in the virtual world environment, determining descriptions of activities taking place in the sub-portion of the virtual world environment based on the monitoring, and providing the user with the determined descriptions of activities taking place in the sub-portion of the virtual world environment via the IM user interface.

Abstract: A system and method hides latency in the display of a subsequent user interface by animating the exit of the current user interface and animating the entrance of the subsequent user interface, causing continuity in the display of the two user interfaces. During either or both animations, information used to produce the user interface, animation of the entrance of the subsequent user interface, or both may be retrieved or processed or other actions may be performed.

Abstract: A method for showing a display panel in a graphical user interface involves associating a client-side script variable with a display panel wrapper, where the display panel is embedded in the display panel wrapper, and where the client-side script variable indicates that the display panel is hidden. The method further involves modifying the client-side script variable to show the display panel in the graphical user interface, where showing the display panel involves showing an input control for manipulating a data area in the graphical user interface.

Abstract: An information processing device is provided that performs content transfer with a content recording device on which is stored content that has content identification information identifying the content. The information processing device includes: an identification information acquisition portion that acquires, from the content recording device, the content identification information for the content recorded in the content recording device; a display control portion that groups a list of the content identification information acquired by the identification information acquisition portion for each of a content type acquired from the content identification information and displays the list; and a sort control portion that sorts, for each of the content types, the list of the content identification information displayed by the display control portion, based on the content attribute information acquired from the content identification information.

Abstract: Additional functionality, referred to herein as an action, is added to existing enterprise software without customization or visible modification of the enterprise software itself. Such added functionality is user selectable via an added web page frame yet still triggers typical event handler processing of changed data within a component web page frame. Seamlessly adding such functionality thus allows for easy installation and uninstallation as desired.
