Abstract: An information processing apparatus having an operating system installed thereon is provided with a help file manager. The help file manager obtains language type information indicating a language type currently set for the operating system, obtains one of a plurality of help files that corresponds to the obtained language type information from a resource file, and expands the obtained help file into an expanded help file to store the expanded help file at the information processing apparatus. The information processing apparatus displays a help window generated based on the expanded help file that is stored.

Abstract: Systems and methods consistent with the invention may include receiving, over an electronic network, a contract description message including description information corresponding to a computer device being used to display the contract to a user, retrieving, by using a processor, the description information from the contract description message, comparing the description information with information stored in a template library and adaptor library to identify a generic user interface and a corresponding adaptor module, and generating a contract response message based on a result of the comparison, the response message including an instruction to generate, on the computer device, a customized user interface based on the identified generic user interface and corresponding adaptor module when the generic user interface and the corresponding adaptor module are identified.

Abstract: A portable communication terminal includes a display unit, a memory that stores content information and community information, an identifier display unit that displays on the display unit a content identifier capable of identifying the content and a community identifier capable of identifying a community, a first identifier reception unit that receives a designation of the content identifier, an upload determination unit that determines whether upload of content to a community is possible based on the content information and the community information, and an upload display unit that displays the community identifier of a community determined as being uploadable to be distinguishable from another community identifier.

Abstract: A graphical user interface that is embodied in a computer-readable medium for execution on a computer, and configured for processing of an image that is displayed on a screen. The graphical user interface includes an original version of a control element, and a blurred version of the control element. The blurred version of the control element is superimposed over the image on the screen, and the original version of the control element is superimposed over the blurred version of the control element on the screen.

Abstract: A processing system may include a display device, a primary window manager, and an auxiliary window manager. The primary window manager may display a first remote-enabled window in the display device. The processing system may also include a program to generate a mouse-enabled window, and the primary window manager may prevent the mouse-enabled window from displaying in front of the first remote-enabled window. The auxiliary window manager may detect an attempt to display the mouse-enabled window, and, in response, may automatically display a second remote-enabled window in front of the first remote-enabled window. The second remote-enabled window may include an object that a user can select with a remote control to instruct the processing system to display the mouse-enabled window. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A mobile terminal having a function of managing files and folders is disclosed. In one embodiment, the mobile terminal displays folder items representing one or more memory elements installed in or joined to the mobile terminal on a display unit when a request to perform a search function is inputted, and displays selection items corresponding to at least one of files included in the folder item and subfolders on the display unit when a select command for a folder item is inputted. At least one embodiment of the invention allows easy management of data (e.g., files, folders, etc.) stored in one or more memory devices installed in or joined to the mobile terminal.

Abstract: In a computer-implemented method, a portion of an electronic document is displayed on a touch screen display of a portable multifunction device. The displayed portion has a vertical position and a horizontal position in the electronic document. An object is detected on or near the displayed portion of the electronic document. In response to detecting the object, a vertical bar and a horizontal bar are displayed on top of the displayed portion. The vertical bar has a vertical position on top of the displayed portion that corresponds to the vertical position in the electronic document of the displayed portion. The horizontal bar has a horizontal position on top of the displayed portion that corresponds to the horizontal position in the electronic document of the displayed portion. After a predetermined condition is met, display of the vertical bar and of the horizontal bar is ceased.

Abstract: Management of controls in a graphical user interface (GUI) of a computer system. In one aspect, a command is received to create and display a window in the GUI, the window including one or more controls, each control operative to perform a function of an application in response to selection. An associated scope for each control is determined and indicates an extent of shared use of the control within the GUI. It is determined if a different instance of the control already exists within the scope for the control. If so, resources of the different instance are referenced to be shared for use with the control and new resources are not created for the control. If no different instance exists within the scope, new resources for the control are created and stored. The window and the controls in the GUI are displayed.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide a mechanism to create and traverse inter-document links involving embedded documents. One aspect of the systems and methods includes creating and traversing inter-document links to and from documents that are embedded in a host document. A further aspect of the systems and methods includes creating and traversing inter-document links to an from documents that may be embedded at more than one level in an embedded document hierarchy. A still further aspect of the systems and methods includes creating and traversing inter-document links from a first document to an embedded document in a second document.

Abstract: An aspect of the technology described relates to a dashboard creation system for generating dashboards displaying key performance indicator information. The dashboard creation system includes: a business database comprising a plurality of business values; an intermediate table comprising intermediate data; and at least one key performance indicator record. In some implementations, the intermediate data includes: an intermediate value corresponding to a selected plurality of the business values; and an intermediate link identifying the corresponding selected plurality of business values. Also, the key performance indicator record may include: a key performance indicator value corresponding to the intermediate value; a key performance indicator link corresponding to the intermediate link and identifying the corresponding selected plurality of the business values; and a key performance indicator format corresponding to a desired graphical format for depicting the key performance indicator value.

Abstract: A system and method for providing content offering recommendations to users based on the users' preferences. Content offerings may be assigned to a primary metagenre and one or more sub-genres, as well as a secondary metagenre (and additional sub-genres if desired). The offerings may also be identified by their source, and this information can be used with the primary/secondary metagenre/sub-genre data to prepare a listing of recommended files. The listing may be generated by first generating three match listings: 1) a strong genre match listing identifying those offerings that match two user preferred metagenres; 2) a genre/style match listing identifying those offerings whose primary metagenre and corresponding sub-genre are preferred by the user; and 3) a weak genre match listing identifying those offerings whose primary metagenre matches a user preference, but whose secondary metagenre does not.

Abstract: Provided is an exclusive operation control apparatus which, when input operations of a plurality of users compete with each other, displays a content on which the plurality of input operations are reflected, instead of performing only one of the input operations. An operation determination section receives input information from the plurality of users, and determines an operation. An exclusive operation determination section determines an exclusive operation concerning a new operation by using the new operation and a previous operation. The content copying section copies the content based on a result of the determination. The content management section receives the new operation from the operation determination section and, when the new operation is an operation on the copied content, generates and displays on a display device display data which is obtained by reflecting the new operation on the copied content.

Abstract: A method and user interface which enables the setting of a variable value feature, having a plurality of values associated therewith, wherein the plurality of values include a default value and a plurality of non-default values. The method and user interface displays a first value associated with a user selected variable value feature and changes the displayed first value associated with the selected variable value feature by a predetermined amount so as to display a second value associated with the selected variable value feature by a user engaging a user activatable area associated with the selected variable value feature.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) element permits a user to control an application in both a coarse manner and a fine manner. When a cursor is moved to coincide or overlap the displayed GUI element, parameter adjustment is made at a first (coarse) granularity so that rapid changes to the target parameter can be made (e.g., displayed zoom level, image rotation or playback volume). As the cursor is moved away from the displayed GUI element, parameter adjustment is made at a second (fine) granularity so that fine changes to the target parameter can be made. In one embodiment, the further the cursor is moved from the displayed GUI element, the finer the control.

Abstract: Provided is a system and method for facilitating or creating a gateway to integrate with 3D virtual worlds (e.g., Second Life and Sun Wonderland) and external applications (e.g., data visualization gateways, process modeling systems, artificial intelligences, social networks, and other virtual worlds) for three-dimensional visualization of data in a virtual world. The visualization tool may include, for example, a three-dimensional graph using various colors, dimensions, shapes, and other properties as desired, to represent different data and data values. The avatars in the virtual world, as controlled by the game's players or users in the real world, can point to or otherwise interact with elements in the three-dimensional graph whereupon the base data or other related informational data would be displayed with respect to that given cell or element of the graph.

Abstract: Displaying overlapping windows from a client device. Windows are displayed at a client device with a first window overlapping a second window on a single display. The first window is a current window. The current window is based on front to back ordering of windows displayed at the client device. Pixels in a region of the first window are captured and sent to a display server. At the display server, the first window is displayed on a first display region. The second window becomes the current window, resulting in capturing and sending pixels in a region of the second window to the display server. At the display server, the second window is displayed on a second display region. At the display server, the first and second windows are displayed in a non-overlapping fashion by displaying the first window and the second window on separate display regions.

Abstract: A system and method for displaying a set of hierarchical menu items is disclosed. Each menu item may be associated with at least one sub-item and/or with content data. Each sub-item may be associated with content data for display upon selection of the sub-item. The system simultaneously displays each menu item in a list format. Upon selection of one of the menu items, the system displays each sub-item associated with the selected menu item. For any selected sub-item, the system displays the display data associated with the selected sub-item and stores data indicating that the selected sub-item is the most recently-selected sub-item associated with the selected menu item. When any menu item is selected, the system determines the most recently-selected sub-item (if any) associated with the selected menu item and displays the display data associated with the most recently-selected sub-item.

Abstract: In a synchronization system, the present invention provides an improved user interface through which a user can view and manage settings associated with the user's account in the synchronization system. In the preferred embodiment, a column is displayed for each electronic device associated with the user's account in the synchronization system. In each column is a visual representation of items (e.g., folders) that are (1) backed up, remotely accessible and/or synchronized in the synchronization system and (2) located on the electronic device associated with such column. For each item that is synchronized across multiple devices, all the visual representations of such item in the columns are aligned across a single row in the interface. In the preferred embodiment, there is an arrow, or other visual indicator, between the visual representations of such items to indicate that the items are synchronized.

Abstract: Techniques described herein may provide web pages to customers describing various accounts of the customers. In one implementation, a system receives a request for a web page from a client relating to an account of the client, and generates a document in response to the request. The document includes a reference to a script configured to display a context menu for the account in the web page. The script receives, asynchronously with the display of the context menu in the web page, a menu object representing actions for the context menu that are valid for the account. The system transmits the document and the script to the client.
