  • Patent number: 8942167
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for providing seamless Internet Protocol multicast connectivity in unified networks is presented. The systems disclosed herein are able to transfer, from a designated (i.e., first) VLAN to a roaming (i.e., second) VLAN, a multicast stream from a multicast server in a mobility VLAN that is not available at the roaming VLAN. In operation, example embodiments of the present invention receive a report identifying a roaming mobile unit as a member of a first VLAN and forward the report to a first mobility switch in the first VLAN. The multicast stream is then received and forwarded toward the roaming mobile unit in the second VLAN so that transfer of the multicast stream from the first VLAN to the second VLAN is seamless.

  • Patent number: 8937964
Abstract: Packets having at least one cell are switched using input queues, output queues, a switch fabric, and a controller. Each input queue stores cells to be switched, and each output queue stores switched cells. The switch fabric couples the input queues to the output queues and has memory. The switch fabric stores cells moved from the input queues to the switch fabric and stores cells based on the output queues. The controller couples to the input queues and the switch fabric and determines input priorities for cells moving from the input queues to the switch fabric and output priorities for cells moving from the switch fabric to the output queues.

  • Patent number: 8897154
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments for processing, by a service gateway, data packets sent over a communication session between a host and a server are disclosed. The service gateway processes data packets using a hybrid-stateful or hybrid-stateless processing method, depending on whether a hybrid-stateless or hybrid-stateful condition is satisfied. When the condition is satisfied, the service gateway allows for the changing from a hybrid-stateful to a hybrid-stateless processing method, or vice versa, for a subsequently received data packet. Otherwise, the service gateway continues processing the subsequently received data packets using the current hybrid processing method.

  • Patent number: 8897126
Abstract: Apparatus, method and program for restoring path information to its original status when a trouble occurs on a network. An apparatus control part generates, based on a switch information list and an I/F information list stored in a nonvolatile storing part, link information that is prior to the reactivation and used for determining adjacent communication apparatuses. The apparatus control part acquires, via a control network from the adjacent communication apparatuses described in the generated link information, held path information. Thereafter, the apparatus control part (11) decides, based on a stored definition information list, a path sequence such that the path of a lower order layer is placed before the path of an upper order layer. Thereafter, the apparatus control part generates the path information based on the path sequence and further based on the previously acquired held path information.

  • Patent number: 8891506
Abstract: Method and apparatus for providing Mobile internet protocol (IP) service through a network address translation gateway. In one example, a gateway between a local area network (LAN) and a wide area network (WAN) is provided. A foreign agent (FA) module is configured to advertise a care-of address (CoA) on the LAN and process registration and mobile IP communication traffic on the LAN and the WAN side of the gateway. A control module is configured to identify the registration and the mobile IP communication traffic on the LAN and the WAN. The control module sends mobile IP traffic to the FA and other traffic to a network address translation (NAT) module. In this manner, network address translation of mobile IP traffic is advantageously omitted. This allows the IP-in-IP tunnels used by mobile IP to pass through the gateway.

  • Patent number: 8879466
Abstract: Provided is a Media Access Control (MAC) technology that may improve a data transmission performance in an asynchronous sensor network. The MAC technology may increase a waked-up time interval of a reception node to thereby continue to receive traffic from a transmission node, and change a frequency band where data is transmitted and received to thereby reduce occurrence of collision. Also, when the wake-up time interval of the reception node is similar to a wake-up time of a neighboring node, the wake-up time interval of the reception node may be moved to another time interval, thereby improving the data transmission performance.

  • Patent number: 8817693
Abstract: L2Relay is a novel packet relay protocol for Wi-Fi networks that can improve the performance and extend the range of the network. A device running L2Relay is referred to as a relayer, which overhears the packet transmissions and retransmits a packet on behalf of the Access Point (AP) or the node if no acknowledgement is overheard. L2Relay is ubiquitously compatible with all Wi-Fi devices. L2Relay is designed to be a layer 2 solution that has direct control over many layer 2 functionalities such as carrier sense. Unique problems are solved in the design of L2Relay including link measurement, rate adaptation, and relayer selection. L2Relay was implemented in the OpenFWWF platform and compared against the baseline without a relayer as well as a commercial Wi-Fi range extender. The results show that L2Relay outperforms both compared schemes.

  • Patent number: 8811393
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for supporting IPv4-IPv6 interworking of SIP messages in wireless networks and IMS networks. The interworking can be provided to smooth migration to an all-IPv6 IMS network by allowing the use and support of existing legacy IPv4 infrastructure. This functionality may be provided by a call session control function (CSCF) interposed between a user equipment (UE) and an IMS core network with interworking functionality or an interworking module. This device serves as a back-to-back user agent (B2BUA), allocates IP addresses from a pool, performs next-hop route protocol discovery, and maintains and stores information within the gateway as well as interworking and rewriting IP addresses within network messages, while proxying and maintaining sessions between the UE and the IMS core network. This allows for faster call setup, reduced capex/opex, improved debuggability, increased capacity and subscriber density by call processing distribution, and better user experience.
