Abstract: A method of and an application server (50) and user equipment (40) for providing at least one of chat and Voice over Internet Protocol, chat/VoIP, services to the mobile user equipment (40) in a mobile telecommunications network (30). The mobile user equipment (40) comprises a chat/VoIP client (41) for accessing a chat/VoIP service application (54) interfacing the mobile telecommunications network (30). The chat/VoIP service application (54) interfaces a plurality of proprietary chat/VoIP clients (51, 52, 53) for accessing a plurality of proprietary chat/VoIP communication environments (21, 22, 23) operated by a plurality of chat/VoIP service providers, for providing chat/VoIP services to the chat/VoIP client (41) of the mobile user equipment (40).
Abstract: A methods and apparatus may be used for accelerated link setup. A method may include a station (STA) acquiring information about an access point of an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 network in advance through a previously connected IEEE 802.11 interface and/or an interface other than the IEEE 802.11 network. The STA may use the acquired information during a link setup procedure between the STA and the access point. The information may include a suggestion for a specific procedure to complete the link setup procedure between the STA and the access point.

Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention is a method for a relay to execute a random access procedure in a wireless communication system. More particularly, the present invention comprises the steps of: transmitting a random access preamble to a target cell; receiving a downlink signal from the target cell; obtaining a relay node-physical downlink control channel (R-PDCCH) by blind decoding the downlink signal; and receiving a random access response message on the basis of the R-PDCCH, wherein a search space for the blind decoding is located in a data region of a subframe, and information on the search space is delivered from the target cell to a serving cell of the relay node, and then signaled to the relay node.
Abstract: A method and apparatus to use multiple pilot signals of different transmission power levels in a wireless communication system. A base station may broadcast in its coverage area at least two different pilot signals concurrently with each other but at different transmission power levels than each other. One of these pilot signals, transmitted at a normal pilot transmission power level for instance, may be for receipt and evaluation by certain UEs served by the base station, such as UEs that are not set to receive beamformed transmission of bearer traffic from the base station. Whereas another one of these pilot signals, transmitted at an increased pilot transmission power level for instance, may be for receipt and evaluation by other UEs served by the base station, such as UEs that are set to receive beamformed transmission of bearer traffic from the base station.

Abstract: An access point (AP) in accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure provides a convenient approach to provision wireless devices. In an embodiment, the AP initiates push button mode of WPS procedures with a wireless device, in response to receiving of a provisioning request from the wireless device, without requiring a WPS push button signal locally. The AP thereafter operates to complete provisioning of the wireless device. According to yet another aspect of the present disclosure, a wireless device may also participate in push button mode of WPS, without requiring a push button signal locally. In an embodiment, a wireless device automatically transmits a request for provisioning. An AP within the transmission range, responds back with a command to initiate push button mode of WPS procedures. The wireless device communicates with the AP to complete provisioning.
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes a first generator and a plurality of adders. The first generator is configured to generate a first cancellation signal having inverse characteristics of a first spurious emission that is expected to occur between transmission signals in a plurality of frequency bands during data transmission using the plurality of frequency bands, based on information regarding the plurality of frequency bands. The plurality of adders is configured to add the first cancellation signal to transmission signals in the plurality of frequency bands.
Abstract: A system for dynamically learning virtual local area network (VLAN) tags comprises a switching element having a VLAN table and a media access control (MAC) table. For at least one VLAN, the switching element is configured to dynamically learn VLAN tags for packets carried by the VLAN in order to build the VLAN table and to then use mappings of the VLAN table, rather than mappings of the MAC table, to make forwarding decisions for all types of packets carried by the VLAN. The MAC table is not used for forwarding decisions for packets carried by the VLAN, but it can be used to help learn the VLAN tags. In particular, the switching element can use the MAC table to selectively trap packets when they are useful for learning VLAN tags and to prevent MAC learning traps for packets carrying VLAN tags previously learned by the switching element.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include a system for managing cost in a wireless enabled advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). The system includes a remote server, a wide area network, and an access point device. The system further includes wireless enabled meters coupled to each other and to the access point through a neighborhood area network (NAN). The system includes datasinks. Each datasink is a wireless enabled meter capable of being a data coordinator and capable of receiving metering information from the sensors, processing metering information, and transmitting metering information to the access point. Moreover, each wireless enabled meter is capable of being a routing node and an endpoint node. Also, a first set of wireless enabled meters are configured to be routing nodes and a second set of wireless enabled meters are configured to be endpoint nodes based on a graph theoretic algorithm to reduce the cost of the AMI.
Abstract: A control unit included in an information processing system determines, on the basis of information indicative of interface units and path information indicative of communication paths through a plurality of relay apparatus, whether or not the number of communication paths for access from the interface units to a node is greater than the number of the interface units. When the number of the communication paths is greater than the number of the interface units, the control unit controls the plurality of relay apparatus so as to block a part of the communication paths.
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for obtaining information transmitted between a source station and a destination station in a non broadcast multiple access network. A connection between the source station and a server for the destination station is established. The server has a cache containing the information. The source station transmits a request packet having parameters relating to the information to the server. The source station receives a reply packet containing the information from the server. The reply packet matches the parameters of the request packet.
Abstract: A method and system for multicasting Internet-protocol television (IPTV) channels is disclosed. In order to receive desired IPTV channels, a first-hop router (FHR) may send a join message to a last-hop router (LHR) establishing multiple paths across a backbone network. The join message may specify mapping at least one virtual IPTV channel to a plurality of multicast channels, along with the desired IPTV channels. The multicast channels may then be transmitted in a round-robin manner over the multiple paths from the LHR to the FHR. A number of virtual IPTV channels may be modified in response to determining a loading profile over the multiple paths to maintain a balanced load among the multiple paths.

Abstract: A systems and methods are disclosed that provide an efficient parallel pipeline for data processing using a multi-core processor. Embodiments allocate a shared memory portion of the memory that is accessible from more than one context of execution and/or process a frame in a plurality of processing stages processed by a context of execution. In some embodiments, each of the plurality of processing stages may be bound to a processing core of the multi-core processor. In other embodiments include one or more processing stages with a point-to-point communication mechanism that operates in shared memory.
Abstract: A system (and method) for device-independent point to multipoint communication is disclosed. The system is configured to receive a message addressed to one or more destination users, the message type being, for example, Short Message Service (SMS), Instant Messaging (IM), E-mail, web form input, or Application Program Interface (API) function call. The system also is configured to determine information about the destination users, the information comprising preferred devices and interfaces for receiving messages, the information further comprising message receiving preferences. The system applies rules to the message based on destination user information to determine the message endpoints, the message endpoints being, for example, Short Message Service (SMS), Instant Messaging (IM), E-mail, web page output, or Application Program Interface (API) function call.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure generally pertain to systems and methods for policing packet networks. A system in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure includes an enqueue policer positioned within an intermediate node of a packet network prior to at least one egress queue. The enqueue policer utilizes information related to destination end-point capacity limits for a given customer in order to police packets based on such information at a relatively early point in the packet network. Thus, a packet that would have been dropped by an egress node due to capacity limits is dropped by the intermediate node thereby preventing the packet from needlessly consuming bandwidth of the network beyond the intermediate node.

Abstract: A method and system for path computation in a communications network having multiple domains are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method of path computation across multiple domains includes identifying a plurality of border nodes at borders of a plurality of domains, each domain having at least one border node. The method includes providing a path computation element at each of the plurality of border nodes of the domains of the network. The locations of the path computation elements are known to be at the border nodes prior to determining a path in response to a path computation request.
