  • Patent number: 9444550
Abstract: Flexible VON provisioning may include calculating a candidate mapping pattern to satisfy a virtual optical network (VON) demand based on virtual-to-physical node mapping choices. A distance-adaptive routing and spectral slot assignment evaluation of the candidate mapping pattern may be performed. When the VON demand is satisfied by the candidate mapping pattern, the candidate mapping pattern may be added to a valid mapping patterns list. A final mapping pattern may be selected from the valid mapping patterns list, the final mapping pattern having one of a lowest slot layer and a smallest overall slot usage on the valid mapping patterns list. Then, network resources may be reserved based on the final mapping pattern selected to service the VON demand.

  • Patent number: 9432120
Abstract: Embodiments provide systems and methods for a probabilistic reporting mode, where an Optical Network Unit (ONU) sends a REPORT message only when it has data to transmit. The absence of a REPORT message from an ONU is treated by the Optical Line Terminal (OLT) as indicating absence of data to transmit at the ONU. In another aspect, embodiments include systems and methods for an unsolicited burst mode, where an ONU can be configured to transmit data in the upstream in an unsolicited manner. The unsolicited burst mode includes mechanisms to ensure that no data is lost due to potential collisions between ONUs.

  • Patent number: 9391766
Abstract: A global synchronization method based on a packet switching system includes that: a reference chip is selected; and each chip calibrates its own timer by taking the reference chip as a reference, wherein each chip sends a zero-point pulse or zero-point pulse cell to each high-speed link (serdes) connected with the chip, and feeds back a calibration cell in response to a zero-point pulse or zero-point pulse cell received through each high-speed link. Accordingly, a global synchronization system based on a packet switching system is also disclosed. The disclosure reduces the packet loss rate and increases the accuracy of calibration.

  • Patent number: 9379808
Abstract: An endpoint device may be operable to transmit and receive data wirelessly via a medium to which access is time-division multiplexed into a plurality of repeating windows. A first window of the plurality of repeating windows may be time-division multiplexed into a plurality of timeslots utilized for transmitting beacon signals. A second window of the plurality of repeating windows may be time-division multiplexed into a plurality of timeslots utilized for transmitting alarm signals. The endpoint may be assigned one of the first timeslots and, when an alarm condition is present, select one of the second timeslots for transmitting an alarm signal based on the assigned first timeslot, and based on a hash function. The endpoint may then transmit an alarm signal during the second timeslot. The endpoint may be operable to synchronize its local clock by listening to beacons transmitted by other endpoints.

  • Patent number: 9357425
Abstract: A first communication device comprising memory in which data is stored may receive a request packet from a second communication device, measure received signal strength for the request packet, and determine whether to perform the requested search of the data stored in the memory based on the received signal strength and the power at which the request packet was transmitted. The search request packet may comprise a request to search the data stored in the memory, and a transmit power field that indicates a power at which the request packet was transmitted. The determining may be based on a result of a comparison between the received signal strength and a threshold and/or based on a comparison of a relative power and a threshold. The relative power may be calculated utilizing the received signal strength and the power at which the packet was transmitted.

  • Patent number: 9344289
Abstract: A local router stores a content distribution map that specifies a plurality of permitted multicast groups. The local router receives communications from user devices on an access-network side of the local router. Those received communications identify multicast groups for which user devices wish to receive data. The local router ascertains if those identified multicast groups are permitted multicast groups specified by the stored content distribution map. For multicast groups ascertained to be permitted multicast groups, the local router sends communications across a network-side interface requesting membership in those multicast groups. The local router may then receive data for those multicast groups and forward that data to user devices. For multicast groups identified in user device communications ascertained not to be permitted multicast groups, the local router sends no communications across the network-side interface requesting membership.

  • Patent number: 9344349
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for a first network controller that manages a set of logical forwarding elements implemented in several managed forwarding elements. The method receives a request to trace a specified packet having a particular source on a logical forwarding element. The method generates the packet according to the packet specification. The generated packet includes an indicator that the packet is for a trace operation. The method sends the packet to a second network controller that manages a managed forwarding element associated with the particular source. The method receives a first set of messages regarding operations performed on the packet from a set of network controllers that receives a second set of messages regarding operations performed on the packet from a set of managed forwarding elements that process the packet.

  • Patent number: 9338631
Abstract: A method is provided for online charging within an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS. A first credit control request message is received (S-A) at an IMS charging node (30) from an IMS service network node (20) over a service charging interface (22) provided between the IMS service node (20) and the IMS charging node (30). In response to receipt of the first credit control message, it is determined (S-B) at the IMS charging node (30), with reference to one or more triggering conditions, that a replenishment of credit is to be offered for a user associated with the first credit control request message. Following such a determination, a credit replenishment service is initiated in the IMS service node (20) by sending (S-D) a replenishment request in a first credit control answer message over the service charging interface (22) from the IMS charging node (30) to the IMS service node (20), the first credit control answer message being in response to the first credit control request message.
