  • Patent number: 8295952
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and computer program are provided for automated closed-loop identification of an industrial process in a process control system. Multiple models (such as multiple model structure-model order combinations) can be identified, where the models are associated with a process to be controlled. One or more metrics (such as a prediction metric or rank) can be determined for each of the models. At least one of the models can be selected based on the one or more metrics. A final model for controlling the process can be provided (such as to a controller), where the final model is based on the at least one selected model. A band pass filter could be designed using some of the identified models. The band pass filter could be used to identify at least one other of the models or to determine at least one of the one or more metrics.

  • Patent number: 8280558
Abstract: A computerized method for controlling one or more a lights in an area. The method may include establishing an electronic profile of lighting conditions in an area to be controlled and then controlling lighting conditions in the area based on the profile. For example, the profile could be created by determining a respective influence on artificial light of each switch within the area to be controlled. This information could be used to turn on the appropriate switches that best match a set point for a light level in the area.

  • Patent number: 8271122
Abstract: A method for monitoring a manufacturing tool features acquiring metrology data (“Step a”). Data is acquired for process variables for a first process step performed by the manufacturing tool (“Step b”). A mathematical model of the first process step based on the metrology data and the acquired data is created (“Step c”). Steps b and c are repeated for at least a second process step (“Step d”). An nth mathematical model is created based on the metrology data and the data for the process variables for each of the n process steps (“Step e”). A top level mathematical model is created based on the metrology data and the models created by steps c, d and e (“Step f”). A multivariate metric is calculated based on the top level model of step f and data from subsequent runs of the manufacturing tool. Service is performed if the metric satisfies a condition.

  • Patent number: 8255077
Abstract: An apparatus for calculating a tool reference plane utilizes a machining plane model and an inversed tool model to create a collection of sphere regions having three dimensional grid points as their center, and identifies a nearest point on each of the model planes from the respective center point of the sphere regions. The positions within the tool reference plane can be accurately identified to the degree of the grid interval of the three dimensional grid points using the machining plane model and the inversed tool model consisting of the collection of sphere regions. By using the nearest point on each of the model planes, the position of the tool reference plane is identified using the accuracy created by the model planes. According to this apparatus, a tool reference plane can be created accurately irrespective of the shape of the machining plane model.

  • Patent number: 8249740
Abstract: Various embodiments may include determining a material utilization for one or more assemblies having a plurality of parts. Offal data for one or more parts comprising one or more part assemblies and a blank material utilization status for each of the one or more part assemblies may be received. The blank material utilization status for the one or more part assemblies may be based on a blank material utilization status for each of the one or more parts. The offal data may be standardized to obtain standardized offal data. One or more offal utilization assignments for the part assemblies having a plurality of parts may be determined based on the standardized offal data and the blank material utilization status for the part assemblies. The offal utilization assignments may then be transmitted for assignment to the one or more part assemblies.

  • Patent number: 8219228
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for parametric configuration of a complex product. The system includes a parametric configurator, a parametric configuration language, and a parametric data management system. The parametric configuration language facilitates the solution of a design using constraints on geometric, physical, technological, operational, or business parameters. The parametric configurator includes a hierarchical solver that partitions a design into a plurality of subdesigns; provides the choice to collectively or independently optimize sets of subdesigns; and rolls back the solution process to an earlier subdesign when a given subdesign is determined to not be viable. The parametric data management system accesses data on a tangible digital medium, the data including constraints, product models, and product model instances. The method transforms the physical and geometrical constraints into a concrete product design.

  • Patent number: 8150541
Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to modify a recipe process flow during recipe execution are disclosed. A disclosed example method involves executing a recipe, and before completion of execution of the recipe, receiving process flow change information indicative of a modification to a process flow of the recipe. Process flow rules are then retrieved from a process flow rules data structure. The recipe process flow is modified based on the process flow change information in response to determining that at least one requested change indicated by the process flow change information does not violate one of the process flow rules.
