  • Patent number: 11514670
Abstract: A method comprises receiving an area of interest (AOI) selection. The method further comprises accessing an AOI device location data for the AOI, the AOI device location data indicating locations of devices over time received within the AOI. The AOI device location data is filtered to only include the device location data that match one or more characteristics. A proximity zone is determined for the for the AOI that includes the area of the AOI. A zone device location data for the proximity zone is determined, which indicates locations of devices over time reported within the proximity zone. The method further comprises normalizing the filtered AOI device location data by computing a ratio of the filtered AOI device location data and the zone device location data to generate an AOI user estimate, and transmitting the AOI user estimate to a client device of a requestor.

  • Patent number: 11516719
Abstract: A wireless communication network controls handovers based on comparative Quality-of-Service (QoS). Wireless access nodes wirelessly deliver wireless data services that have QoS Flow Identifiers (QFIs). The wireless access nodes determine performance metrics for individual QFIs. A handover controller compares the performance metrics for source/target access node pairs on a per-QFI basis to determine QFI offsets for the QFIs and QFI combinations. The source access nodes select the QFI offsets that correspond to the QFIs used by the user device. The source access nodes apply the selected QFI offsets to target signal strengths to reject or perform the handovers.

  • Patent number: 11510125
Abstract: When a second mobile station detects quality deterioration of a signal received from a first mobile station at a second frequency, the second mobile station transmits a quality deterioration notification to a relay station at a first frequency. Upon receiving the quality deterioration notification, the relay station transmits a response at the second frequency to the second mobile station that has transmitted the quality deterioration notification, receives a signal from the first mobile station, and transmits the received signal to the second mobile station at the first frequency. Upon receiving the response from the relay station, the mobile station changes the communication mode so as to receive a signal that is from the first mobile station from the relay station.

Abstract: This application provides a user authentication method and an apparatus. Before establishing, for a terminal device, a session used to transmit service data, an SMF entity receives a session establishment request message; determines, based on the session establishment request message, to perform user authentication on a user using the terminal device; and sends a session establishment message to a UPF entity, where the session establishment message is used to establish a first session for the terminal device, and a session attribute of the first session is: a session used to transmit only a user authentication message. Subsequently, the terminal device and an AAA server transmit the user authentication message through the first session, to complete user authentication.

  • Patent number: 11490246
Abstract: In an embodiment, a network component (e.g., eNB) of a terrestrial wireless communication subscriber network determines whether a drone-coupled user equipment (UE) is engaged in a flying state based upon one or more wireless signals transmitted by the drone-coupled UE. The determination can occur in a variety of ways, such as based on a message from the drone-coupled UE itself (e.g., an express flying-state notification from the drone-coupled UE, a request particular to a flying state, a measurement reporting message, an identifier used by the drone-coupled UE, uplink signal strength measurement(s) or uplink AoA measurements, whether any intervening base station(s) were skipped over in conjunction with a handoff of the drone-coupled UE, etc.).

  • Patent number: 11490312
Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for mitigation of secondary cell failures. A user equipment (UE) may establish communication with a macro cellular base station. The UE may perform a signal quality measurement of a small cell base station and compare the signal quality measurement to a threshold. Based on the signal quality measurement exceeding the threshold, the UE may attempt to additionally connect to the small cell base station. In response to a radio link failure of the second base station, the UE may modify the first threshold. In response to subsequent failures to additionally connect to the small cell base station using the modified first threshold, the UE may disable connections to the small cell base station.

  • Patent number: 11460533
Abstract: A method for locating a portable radio unit (TF) within a predetermined area (AB, IB) of a vehicle (FZ) has the following steps. A first radio signal (FS1) is transmitted from a vehicle-based position (PO1) outside the vehicle. Further, a second radio signal (FS2) is transmitted from a vehicle-based position (PO2) inside the vehicle. Values (R1, R2) of the respective measured reception field strengths of the first and second radio signals at the location (OF) of the portable radio unit or a value derived therefrom is/are received. Finally, the location (OF) of the portable radio unit is ascertained on the basis of a comparison of the values of the respective measured reception field strengths. In this manner, a simple and reliable way of locating a portable radio unit is also made possible using radio-frequency radio signals.

  • Patent number: 11444683
Abstract: In a wireless communication network, an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) receives signaling for a wireless relay and transfers a slice request to a Network Slice Selection Function (NSSF). The NSSF transfers a network slice Identifier (ID) and relay slice IDs to the AMF. The AMF transfers the network slice ID and the relay slice IDs to a Session Management Function (SMF). The SMF instantiates a network User Plane Function (UPF) responsive to the network slice ID. The SMF instantiates relay UPFs in the wireless relay responsive to the relay slice IDs. The wireless relay wirelessly exchanges data with the UEs. The relay UPFs process the user data for the relay slices. The wireless relay wirelessly exchanges the user data with the wireless access node which exchanges the data with the network UPF. The network UPF processes the user data for the network slice.
