    Abstract: A system and method for establishing a rule for an end device connected to a subscriber network. The subscriber network is connected to a service provider network via a local gateway. The subscriber network receives services from a remote operations center via a service provider network. Capability information indicative of a service that the end device is capable of receiving is acquired by the local gateway from the end device. The capability information and subscriber identifying information is sent to the remote operations center via the service provider network. The subscriber network is associated with a subscriber by the subscriber identifying information. The remote operations center receives the subscriber identifying information and the end device capability information from the subscriber network and accesses a subscriber datastore to determine from the subscriber identifying information services that the subscriber is entitled to receive over the service provider network.

    Abstract: A telecommunications system includes a mobile network having a plurality of portable communication devices, and a fixed network which includes a signaling agent, a plurality of directory agents, and a plurality of spaced apart attachment points to which the mobile network can attach. In use, each directory agent stores a routing table for routing data to a respective mobile communication device associated with that directory agent. When the point of attachment of the mobile network changes, the mobile network sends a change-of-address message to the signaling agent. In response, the signaling agent is configured to forward the change of address to each directory agent, so that each can update its routing table to take into account the changed point of attachment of the mobile network.

The spread units (103-1 to 103-n) spread the response signal by the spread code instructed from the classification unit (118). According to the classification result in the classification unit (118), a mapping unit (104) maps the response signal after the spread to one of the subcarriers constituting the OFDM symbol.

Additionally, the base station can instruct the user device to provide on-demand pilot information to resolve ambiguity related thereto.

    Abstract: In conventional cellular systems, the identifier of network elements (SGSN) allocating a temporary identity (TLLI) to a mobile station (MS) can be derived from the identities of the cells they serve. In the future, this assumption may no longer be valid. One paging area could be handled by several network elements, such as SGSN nodes, or one network element could serve many paging areas. When the mobile station changes its paging area, the new supporting network element may have trouble in determining the old supporting network element on the basis of the paging area identifier. It is also possible for two supporting network elements to allocate the same TLLI to two different mobile stations. Therefore the network element (SGSN, BSC, RNC) allocating a temporary identity (TLLI) to a mobile station (MS) should incorporate at least part of its own identifier (NEI) into the temporary identity (TLLI).
