Patent number: 5341196Abstract: Image forming equipment of the type supplying a toner to a developing device thereof by using a cartridge which is filled with a toner. The cartridge has a sealed opening and is brought to a toner supply position in the equipment without having the opening unsealed by the operator. Even when the cartridge is pulled out during the loading operation, the toner is not scattered about. A new cartridge for replacing a used empty cartridge is brought to the toner supply position without requiring the operator to remove the empty toner. During the replacement, the toner remaining on the walls of the empty cartridge is prevented from being sprinkled.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1991Date of Patent: August 23, 1994Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventors: Takashi Hodoshima, Kouji Ishigaki, Kazuyuki Nakahara, Fumio Kishi

Patent number: 5341193Abstract: A printing machine in which magnetically permeable marking particles develop a latent image recorded on a photoconductive member. A read head is positioned on the opposite of the photoconductive member to detect magnetic field intensity effects produced by the leading edge and the trailing edge of the marking particles on the characters recorded. The detected signals are used to control the magnetic quality of the developed image.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1991Date of Patent: August 23, 1994Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Fred F. Patent number: 5338894Abstract: An image forming method in which a toner-carrying member for carrying a specific magnetic toner is placed adjacent a latent image-bearing member for carrying an electrostatic latent image so as to form a developing region of a predetermined gap size. The magnetic toner on the toner-carrying member forms a toner layer of a regulated thickness smaller than the above-mentioned gap. An asymmetric bias is applied to the magnetic toner so as to cause the magnetic toner from the toner-carrying member to be conveyed to the latent image-bearing member thereby to develop the electrostatic latent image.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1991Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masaki Uchiyama, Hirohide Tanikawa, Yasutaka Akashi, Masaaki Taya, Makoto Unno

Patent number: 5338896Abstract: A shield device for any phone with an antenna that emits and receives microwaves, in particular cellular phones. The shield device protects a user by blocking the passage of microwaves to and from the cellular phone antenna while the phone is in use. In the first embodiment of the invention, the shield device comprises a rectangular shaped body with an upper tab for attaching the shield device to the antenna and two opposing lower tabs for attaching the shield device to the upper portion of the cellular phone. The shield device consists of a cover with a pocket for receiving the shielding member. In a second embodiment of the invention, the shield device contemplates a semi-circular hollow tubular member adapted to fit over an antenna. The tubular member has an elastic bottom portion adapted to fit firmly over the antenna ferrule. The bottom portion of the tubular member consists of a resilient disk member, thus protecting the user from any microwaves emitted and received by the antenna.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1993Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Inventor: David M. Patent number: 5339142Abstract: A non-interactive or scavengeless development system for use in color imaging. To control the developability of lines and the degree of interaction between the toner and receiver, an AC voltage is applied between a donor roll and electrodes supported adjacent to the surface of said donor roll to enable efficient detachment of toner from the donor to form a toner cloud. An AC voltage applied between the donor roll assembly and an image receiver serves to position the cloud in close proximity to the image receiver for optimum development of lines and solid areas without scavenging a previously toned image.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1992Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Dan A. Patent number: 5337125Abstract: It is a major object of the present invention to break down and level a heap-up of toner built in the hopper through dropping from the cartridge when feeding toner into the hopper and to prevent toner from leakage from the cartridge due to erroneous operation with a remarkably simple and cheap construction. Namely, the leveling member moves a plurality of number of times in line with engaging and disengaging operation of the cartridge for the hopper and opening and closing operation of the cartridge in the same direction of the shutter, thereby causing a heap-up of toner built in the hopper housing of the hopper to be effectively broken down and leveled. Furthermore, only when the shutter is in its closed status for the cartridge, the cartridge can be removed from the opening of the hopper.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1992Date of Patent: August 9, 1994Assignee: Mita Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kuniaki Nakano, Kunio Nakai, Masahiro Sako, Shigeo Kurando, Minoru Kishigami, Masahiro Higashitani, Yasuhiro Matsuo, Toshinori Nishimura, Tsugio Nakanishi, Yasuyuki Hirai, Shingo Mori

Patent number: 5334798Abstract: An apparatus and a method of use for electrically connecting two printed circuit boards separated by an electrically grounded enclosure wall. The apparatus comprises a flexible, multi-conductor, flat cable that has exposed edge terminations on either end and an enlarged area comprising ground planes. The cable folds upon itself so that all three ground planes electrically connect so that after the cable passes through an opening in the wall and connects the printed circuit boards, the ground planes mechanically seal the opening and electrically shield the printed circuit boards.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1993Date of Patent: August 2, 1994Assignee: Allied-Signal Inc.Inventor: Robert M. Patent number: 5334800Abstract: A flexible circuit board providing the dual benefits of flexibility and shielding against incidental radiation. The flexible, shielded circuit board includes a number of electrical conductors disposed in a substrate, substantially parallel to opposing surfaces of the substrate. Electrical shield layers in the form of a mesh or grid are disposed on the substrate surfaces and are preferably formed by screen printing a conductive layer on each side of the substrate. A repeating pattern of shield conductors, shield conductor vertices, and voids in the shield layer through which the substrate is exposed is thus created on either side of the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1993Date of Patent: August 2, 1994Assignee: Parlex CorporationInventor: Stephen O. Patent number: 5332867Abstract: A detachable seal assembly for a pressurized constant process oven through which a flat filament is passed and which seals the oven against the environment surrounding the oven including a resilient aperture formed by opposed flaps which extend from a transverse portion in the direction of movement of the filament to sandwich the filament. Compression is provided to the seal assembly such that the friction of filament movement tends to stretch the flaps to seal the resilient aperture about the filament. The seal assembly includes a clamp to enable ready replacement to minimize process down time during replacement.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1992Date of Patent: July 26, 1994Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Frank D. Patent number: 5331380Abstract: A portable hand held photo copy reproduction holding device for use with black/white or color photography or photo reproduction and which has transparent copy window panel which is attached to a layout board structure. Layout board structure has non-photogenic natured alignment grid allowing freehand alignment of subject matter and non-photo reproduction of layout board alignment grid. The layout board structure also has a transparent copy window panel adjoined to layout board structure at a pivot point that allows opening and closing in a book like or tablet like manner. Layout board structure and copy window panel work synergistically to create a static electrical energy field that holds subject matter in position without the need for any glues, tapes or other adhesive materials. Allows user to rapidly and easily arrange and rearrange subject matter. Protects reproduction equipment from paper clips staples, and other holding devices.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1992Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Inventor: William J. Nasset
