  • Patent number: 9700152
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide hip seat devices and systems for carrying a child in a position that is ergonomically beneficial for the child and comfortable for the wearer. A hip seat device may comprise a seating platform attached to a wearer engagement surface. The wearer engagement surface is held against the body of a wearer, such as by a waist belt encircling the wearer. The seating platform has a bucket shape for promoting a child seated thereon to assume an ergonomic spread-squat position (“M” position). The bucket shape may have the additional benefit of bringing the child closer to the wearer, reducing the moment on the carrier and thus the resulting force on the wearer.

  • Patent number: 9695972
Abstract: A quick-release mounting system for mounting a panel instrument, such as a video monitor, to a mounting surface or support, such as a seatback or other structure. The mounting system comprises one or more mounting mechanisms configured to be mounted to the mounting surface or support. Each mounting mechanism has a locking member coupled to a first main body. The locking member is movable between a locked position in which the locking bolt engages a retaining stud mounted to the back surface of the panel instrument thereby locking the mounting mechanism to the first retaining stud and an unlocked position in which the locking member is disengaged from the first retaining stud. The mounting mechanism also has a cam shaft having a cam fixed in rotation with the cam shaft. The cam is operably coupled to the locking member such that rotation of the cam shaft moves the locking member between the locked and unlocked positions.

  • Patent number: 9693620
Abstract: A customizable backpack and method of use is described. Embodiments of the customizable backpack can include a pack body, a pack flap, a first panel, and a second panel. The first panel can be coupled to the pack body via the pack flap and the second panel can be removably attached to the first panel. One or more fastening mechanisms can be implemented to couple the first panel to the pack flap. Decorative objects can be removably attached to the first panel and to the second panel to customize the backpack. In a typical implementation, a user can decorate the first panel and the second panel with one or more decorative objects and/or utilitarian objects. The user can then decide which side of the first panel or the second panel to face outwardly when wearing the backpack.

  • Patent number: 9668567
Abstract: An adjustable device for supporting a load includes a belt for fastening about a user's waist. A rod includes two rigid elements. One of the elements is longitudinally slidable relative to the other element so as to adjust a length of the rod. A lower end of the rod is attachable to the belt and an upper section of the rod is attachable to a shoulder harness that is placeable on the user's shoulders for carrying the load. A control is operable by the user when carrying the load to unlock a locking mechanism that, when locked, fixes the length of the rod. When the control is operated concurrently with movement of the user's shoulders relative to the user's waist, the length of the rod is changed to adjust a distribution of a weight of the load between the user's shoulders and waist.
