Abstract: A roller type paint applicator comprises a roller mounted on a shaft for free rotation, the shaft being extended to provide a handle extending normal to the roller axis. An elongated housing encloses the entire roller except for an opening on one side through which the roller projects a sufficient distance for engagement with a surface to be painted. Paint wiping strips are mounted on the housing along both longitudinal edges and have long nap cloth for engagement with the surface to be painted along both longitudinal sides of the opening. The edges prevent painting of adjacent walls and afford close and effective painting of a wall surface up to corners and wall intersections.

Abstract: A collector for leaves and the like is illustrated for positioning a bag for collecting leaves and other refuse therein having an open rim for receiving an open end of a bag which is retained thereabout by an elongated elastic restraining member which confines an open end of the bag over the rim in a groove carried by the outer periphery of the rim.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner having edge cleaning features comprising a cleaner body with a floor contacting suction chamber and a suction duct leading from the chamber, an edge auxiliary cleaning chamber at one end of the suction chamber and communicating through a port with the suction duct, a valve within the cleaner body movable between open and duct restricting positions for selective full nozzle cleaning and edge cleaning with suction through the auxiliary cleaning chamber when the valve is open and operating means accessible from the exterior of the cleaner for the moving of the valve between said positions.

Abstract: An apparatus for receiving waste products and other debris from a floor, turf and the like, which apparatus is adapted to have a removable plastic bag attached thereto so as to permit selective disposal of said waste products and debris without the possibility of the operator thereof coming in direct contact with such products.

Abstract: A rotary cleaning device comprising a cup-shaped rotatable base member, a cylindrical resilient mounting received in the cup-shaped member, a plurality of elongated cleaning elements essentially in the form of wood screws mounted in the resilient mounting and extending through and beyond the same. The heads of the screws are positioned between the resilient mounting and the cup-shaped base member. A bolt having an enlarged head extends substantially centrally through the resilient mounting and the base member in a direction opposite from the extension of the cleaning elements. Nuts are mounted on the bolt and engagable with the base member to hold the assembly together in such manner that the heads of the screws are firmly grasped between the resilient mounting and the base member. The portion of the bolt which extends beyond the nuts constitutes a shank which is adapted to engage a rotary chuck for rotating the cleaning device.

Abstract: A rotary brush construction, particularly for washing vehicles, having a pair of spaced collars mounted upon a shaft and supporting a plurality of elongated bristle holding members arranged in a cylindrical pattern concentric with the shaft. Each collar has an annular flange extending axially thereof, which flange has a plurality of circumferentially spaced slots extending axially inwardly from the free end thereof. The flanges of the collars are directed so that the slots formed in the plurality of collars all open axially in the same direction. Each bristle holding member has fastening elements, such as threaded fasteners, mounted on and positioned so as to be slidably received within a corresponding slot formed on a collar for permitting the bristle holding member to be fixedly secured to the collar.

Abstract: A floor maintenance machine comprises a platform mounted on wheels. An electric power system on the platform is coupled to some of the wheels for driving the machine. A steering system on the platform is coupled to selected ones of the wheels for steering the machine. A vacuum system on the platform is connected to and operated by the electric power system for vacuuming a floor on which the machine is driven. A brushing system on the platform is connected to and operated by the electric power system for performing operations on the floor. The brushing system comprises a plurality of brushes selectively manually coupled to the brushing system for selectively washing, waxing and buffing the floor. A washing system on the platform washes the floor. The washing system comprises a storage drum having two independent compartments, one containing a detergent and water solution and the other containing rinse water when washing and liquid wax when waxing.

Abstract: A combination paint tray and container therefore, wherein the tray is attached to the upper edge of one side of the container with the tray and the open end of the container forming an incline with respect to the upstanding sides of the container. The bottom of the tray has mounted thereon a hook adapted to mate with the rung of a ladder and the side of the container facing the bottom side of the tray includes an arm supported and adapted to be adjustably extended so that one end may be connected to the side of the container and the other end includes a hooked portion also adapted to be engaged with another rung of a ladder. The hooked portions on both the tray and the arm extending from the side of the container are formed to provide a positive engagement with the rungs of the ladder in a manner such that the tray and container are in a relatively secure position on the ladder.

Abstract: A floor treatment machine including a squeegee assembly having a squeegee blade adjustable for a desired angle of incidience between the blade and the floor. The squeegee assembly is pivotally mounted to a bracket for limited rotation about the longitudinal axis of the machine for tracking variations of the floor surface. The bracket to which the squeegee assembly is pivotally coupled in turn is swivel-coupled to a lifting platform by a pair of spaced support arms, each pivotally coupled between the lifting platform and the bracket to permit the squeegee assembly to follow behind the floor treatment machine as it changes direction. The lifting bracket is pivotally coupled to the machine frame and is coupled to squeegee elevating and lowering means including a compressible linkage for holding the squeegee in an operating position with a predetermined adjustable pressure of the squeegee blade against the floor surface while permitting rearward tilting of the machine with the squeegee in the operating position.

Abstract: Toothbrush having a rigid handle and a head part with a multicellular resilient pad made of compressible polyurethane sponge, the pad having a configuration of a hexagonal cylinder, one of which surfaces is provided with a concavity. The concavity has a gutter or gutters parallel to the axis of the hexagonal cylinder. The pad may have a groove or grooves parallel to the axis of the hexagonal cylinder on the back side surface of the pad.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for continuous mixing of formulations for urethane products. A hydroxyl mixture and isocyanate, the major foam components, are supplied to a mixer. In the mixer, the components are mixed by transverse shearing and agitation means. The degree of agitation is varied along the length of the mixer, which runs at a constant speed, by varying the shearing pin configuration. The flow path through the mixer is arranged to control pressure on the fluid as well as minimize the tendency of internal foam build-up to occur.

A pair of rubber washer stop devices are frictionally mounted on the cord and are movably positionable on the cord for holding the member in a desired position on the cord. Handles are affixed to the ends of the cord. Sleeve-type covers are provided on the cylindrical member for application to the back of a user.

Abstract: A spreader closure of the type used to cover a ground coffee receptacle in a coffee brewing apparatus adapted to receive and distribute hot water, said spreader closure having an upper surface portion divided into channels to direct hot water from a central portion to orifices leading through the spreader closure wall whereby the hot water will be evenly distributed over the ground coffee. A special frusto-conical orifice is provided which eliminates blockage due to surface tension.

Abstract: A machine for baking a bakery product such as soft pretzels, wherein the machine includes an oven-like chamber containing a number of processing stations and means to automatically move the bakery products through each processing station in turn. The bakery products are initially placed on one of a plurality of support means, such as baking racks, the opposite ends of which are pivotally connected between parallel, positively driven endless drive chains. The endless drive chains are supported and driven through a predetermined path which exposes the bakery products positioned on the baking racks to the individual processing stations in a predetermined sequence. The first processing station includes a spraying means, which partially coats the bakery products with a soda solution. The bakery products are next salted by a rotating salt cylinder, and then are baked and browned by a selected arrangement of radiant heat rods, before being removed from the baking racks.

Abstract: A floor cleaning machine constructed as a carriage equipped with a pole and having at least one motor-driven cleaning implement or tool rotating about a vertical axis and for wet cleaning the floor or the like. From a fresh water supply per unit of time there flows-out a regulatable quantity of fresh water to which there is added a cleaning agent, this mixture flowing-out at the region of the cleaning implement or tool. The machine works the floor or the like with the fresh water-cleaning agent mixture by means of the cleaning implement and the thus resulting soiled water is sucked-up from the floor and collected in a separate soiled water container. The fresh water container which supplies the fresh water is formed by part of the machine housing body, whereas the soiled water container is constituted by a separate, portable container which when assuming its working position is enclosed in the machine housing.

Abstract: A device for removable attachment to a paintbrush to assist in cutting-in one flat surface to another is disclosed. It is formed of flat metal sheet cut to a configuration having a central portion with a foot depending from one end thereof and a pair of bendable arms extending laterally therefrom. The arms can be bent to a plane normal to the plane of the central portion to engage the opposite sides of the handle of a paintbrush, and the foot portion acts as a guide and shield against unintentional smearing.
