  • Patent number: 4004316
Abstract: A buffing or polishing device characterized in its preferred embodiment by a hub comprised of a pair of generally dished or cup-shaped segments mounted in base abutted relation and having the base portions thereof adapted to connect to and be fixed for rotation with a drive shaft. The hub segments are identically constructed to include both male and female portions which are interfit and interlocked as the hub segments are placed in base abutted relation. They also include pins which coaxially dispose to provide anchor elements around which strip-like buffing or polishing elements are looped to have their respective ends diverge as they project outwardly from the hub. With the arrangement described, the divergent ends of the strips mutually combine to dispose as circumferentially and relatively widely spaced pairs, the elements of each pair being slightly convergent as they project in a sense radially of and outwardly from the hub.

  • Patent number: 3986226
Abstract: Roller cover support consists of blow molded sleeve having plural protruding ribs to frictionally retain the roller cover in place. The ends of the sleeve are molded to receive and mount end caps thereon which include suitable bearings for the roller frame shaft and provide some support against collapse or flattening out of the sleeve during use under pressure. The O.D. of the end caps and adjacent ends of the sleeve are slightly smaller than the I.D. of the roller cover for normal concentricity and guidance of the roller cover onto the sleeve, and the ends of the ribs are tapered to wedge the roller cover on. When the roller frame shaft extends all the way through the roller support, perforations may be placed along the length of the sleeve to provide for drainage of any water or other liquid that may seep into the interior of the sleeve through the end cap bearings during clean up.

  • Patent number: 3986224
Abstract: A novel structure for a blackboard eraser is provided wherein the eraser comprises a plurality of raised rows of two or more different erasing mediums such as brushes, fiber or cloths laterally spaced and extending parallel on a base support to form an eraser body. The body is connected at its two ends to a resilient dust-collecting frame flush with the raised erasing mediums so that when erasing the blackboard with the eraser the latter completely encloses the corresponding part of the blackboard, guiding the dust along the spaces between adjacent raised rows of erasing mediums and then collecting them in the frame, thereby preventing the dust from flying about and polluting the air. A chalk container may further be formed at the lower part of the eraser for holding the chalks.

  • Patent number: 3983596
Abstract: A reversible sponge or foam rubber mop, brush or duster which includes a resiliently compressible block or sheet of a synthetic or sponge rubber generally square in configuration with its thickness substantially less than the length of its sides. The compressible block is arranged in a retainer of preferably resilient material which provides a holder for the resilient rubber block, the block being held in a folded condition. The block is frictionally engaged within the retainer by means of a T-shaped member having an elongate handle in the form of a mopstick passing through an opening in the block and an aligned opening in the retainer, the retainer having a flared entrance and an expanded interior so that the elongate handle of the T-shaped member may be inserted into the block, threaded through the opening in the retainer and the block pulled into the retainer by means of the handle pulling on the crossbar of the T, being held frictionally within the retainer during use.
