  • Patent number: 4155230
Abstract: A hollow cylindrical paint roller cover of absorbent material fits snugly in a cylindrical casing. The hollow center of the cover is closed by appropriate plugs and a cleaning fluid is forced into one end of the casing to flow axially through only the absorbent material and out the other end of the casing. The device is adapted to clean a roller cover having a rigid inner shell or one having no supporting shell and may be made with flexible walls to permit removing the cover from its roller without getting paint on one's hands.

  • Patent number: 4152803
Abstract: An applicator device comprises two casing parts pivotally connected for movement between a longitudinally aligned closed position and a folded open position, one of said casing parts providing a tape supply chamber and the other providing a chamber for receiving and accumulating the tape after use. A flexible member anchored on the one casing part extends between the casing parts for forming a backing for the exposed material when the casing parts are relatively pivoted to said open position, and the flexible member at the same time acts to advance material out of the supply chamber and toward the other casing part. Unidirectional pawls in the other casing part are effective when the casing parts are relatively pivoted to closed position for preventing retraction of the tape.

  • Patent number: 4149294
Abstract: A buffing pad wherein a layer of fabric has tufting material stitched therein and extending outwardly from one side thereof. A layer of adhesive which is flexible after it has set is applied to the surface of the fabric opposite that from which the tufting material extends. A metallic washer having a centrally formed screw thread therein is sandwiched between the adhesive material and a backing layer. The backing layer has an outer edge which is displaced inwardly from the outer edge of the fabric layer by a substantial amount. The outer peripheral portion of the fabric layer along with the adhesive material which extends to the outer edge thereof is curved upwardly and the curved portion is maintained solely by the adhesive material.

  • Patent number: 4148252
Abstract: A pair of spaced parallel rollers are rotatably mounted in the base part of a casing. A drum is positioned on the rollers and extends therebetween in parallel relation therewith. A third roller is rotatably mounted in a hingedly affixed cover part of the casing and abuts the drum in spaced parallel relation with the pair of rollers when the casing is closed so that the drum is rotated about its axis by an electric motor mounted in the base part of the casing and coupled to one of the pair of rollers. One end of the drum is open and covered by a cover. A sleeve coaxially removably mounted inside the drum for rotation with the drum has a plurality of sharp cutting projections extending from its inner surface so that fruits and vegetables in the sleeve during rotation thereof are peeled by the projections.

  • Patent number: 4145787
Abstract: The structure of a hand duster having soft yarns retained on the end of a spirally wound metal wire is disclosed wherein the soft yarns are bunched together by means of a single loop at the end of the spirally wound metal wire. The yarns consist of crimped synthetic fibers in two state permanently secured at their intermediate region by the single loop of the twisted wire. The method comprises preparing a bunch of yarns and retaining same against the curved end of the bent wire shaped in a hairpin configuration, and retaining the curved end of the wire while the generally parallel extending legs are spirally wound around one another along a straight line resulting in a tightly gripping loop around the middle portion of the bundle of yarns. The yarns are then teased and trimmed thereby to produce a round fluffy head portion. The spirally wound stem is then cut to a predetermined length and then a handle component is permanently secured to the free end of the stem.

  • Patent number: 4144613
Abstract: A connector is provided for connecting a hooked-end windshield wiper arm to a windshield wiper blade. The connector is mounted on the blade and has a transversely operative spring-urged latch which seats beyond the hook of the hooked-end arm so as to trap the hook between the latch and the pivot on the blade so as to retain the hook in position on the blade. Transverse movement of the latch releases the hook making it possible to remove the arm from the blade.

  • Patent number: 4145062
Abstract: A snow scraper attached to a ski pole shaft includes an elongated member having an exterior surface and a wall. The ski pole shaft extends through a longitudinally oriented, cylindrical channel in the member. The member has a substantially planar exterior surface portion oriented tangentially to the channel and spaced outwardly from the channel. A radial slot extends from the channel perpendicularly toward and intersects the substantially planar exterior surface portion. Two longitudinally extending edges are defined by second and third exterior surface portions that intersect with the substantially planar exterior surface portion. Inwardly concave, exterior surface portions are located between the edge and the channel in the sidewall of the member. A means for clamping the member to a ski pole shaft is also included.

  • Patent number: 4141053
Abstract: The present invention is a device used to clean the magnetic tape head of a magnetic taped recording/playback unit incorporating the use of cassette mounted magnetic tapes. A housing of substantially the same shape and size of a magnetic tape cassette is adapted to be inserted within the cassette receiving aperture of the magnetic tape playback/recording unit. A pair of spring biased arms are independently and rotatably coupled about one of the cassette hubs. The disposition of the tape head and the capstan roller of the playback/recording unit causes the capstan drive to initiate rotation of a coupled gear train linking the independently rotatable arms. The surface used to clean the magnetic tape head is coupled to a planar transfer gear which rotates as a result of the capstan drive, the spring biased arm maintaining pressure against the magnetic tape head while the housing holding the cleaning apparatus is maintained within the playback/recording unit.

  • Patent number: 4137592
Abstract: A mop having a cylindrical core fixed to a handle by a fastener member. An absorbent material is attached to the cylindrical core. A U-shaped bracket has first and second legs attached to the cylindrical core by first and second pins. A roller is positioned a predetermined distance from the cylindrical core by third and fourth pins extending through the first and second legs. A resilient edge on the absorbent material holds the roller adjacent the handle. An input force applied to the U-shaped bracket moves the roller in an arc about the first and second pins to allow the roller to engage and compress the absorbent material and thereby remove material absorbed therein.
