  • Patent number: 3963207
Abstract: A tripod leg is provided which distributes a portion of the forces produced by the supported object. These forces are directed substantially away from the means used to releasably hold the relatively movable members. Thus, a pair of parallel rods of a leg are separated by a first and second spacer. A third rod is attached to one spacer and extends between two parallel rods. A lower hollow member of the leg is inserted through a hole in the lowermost spacer and engages the third rod. Secured to the lower rod is a collar having a screw means for engaging and releasably holding the third rod.

  • Patent number: 3961823
Abstract: A bolster wire assembly is embedded in the resilient foam cushion of a vehicle seat to permit attachment of a seat cover to the foam cushion. The bolster wire assembly includes a wire having a strip of molded plastic mesh attached to and extending continuously therealong. The strip of plastic mesh has a plurality of interstices therein permitting the foam to flow through the plastic mesh during the foaming of the resilient foam cushion so that the strip of plastic mesh is embedded in the foam cushion to thereby anchor the bolster wire in the foam cushion. Conventional fasteners such as hog rings may then be employed to attach a list on the seat cover to the bolster wire.

  • Patent number: 3962575
Abstract: A downwardly extending radial arm having a hook-shaped end portion for engaging milk hoses is secured to a generally horizontal cow stall mounting rail by a self-lubricating ball and socket joint. The ball is secured to the mounting rail by a diametrically extending bolt either received through the mounting rail or through a sleeve around the rail. The socket member is formed of separable halves which upwardly clamp the ball and downwardly clamp an upper end of the support arm by a clamping bolt extending through the socket member halves.

  • Patent number: 3960317
Abstract: A mail box with a signal attachment in which the opening of the door causes a bracket to activate a pivotally mounted hollow signal arm. The activation of the hollow signal arm moves the hollow signal arm into a substantially upright position. Weight means within the hollow signal arm urges the hollow signal arm into a substantially upright position and maintains the hollow signal arm in the upright position until an operator manually resets the hollow signal arm to its initial position.

  • Patent number: 3960352
Abstract: The cabinets are equipped with elongated three-sided, flanged or webbed channels, opening downward and extending along a bottom edge. A plurality of detachable leg assemblies, having extendable feet is provided which have top plates that fit into the channels in an interlocking and mating arrangement. Holding means for each leg comprise set screws or the like that impinge against one flange of the channel and force the opposite edge or flange of the plate into the corner defined by the other flange of the channel. The legs can be inserted at intermediate or end positions along the channels at desired positions without the necessity of insertion into the open ends and sliding them longitudinally of the channels for proper placement. A modified telescoping leg assembly is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 3957239
Abstract: A joint construction, especially for furniture or the like, in which members such as rail members, or the like, which extend at angles to each other, are joined together by a plastic block formed in situ on at least a pair of the members. The block may form a joint where a furniture leg is located. The plastic block, when it is to be connected to a leg may be formed directly on the leg or it may be formed with a recess therein engageable with an end part on the leg.

  • Patent number: 3952988
Abstract: For use on a truck steering wheel having a central hub, an outer peripheral rim, a plurality of spokes extending radially outwardly from the hub to support the rim and a horn button on the hub extending axially above the level of the rim, a removable desk board providing a generally flat upwardly facing work surface and a downwardly facing mounting surface. The mounting surface is contoured to provide a downwardly opening recess for receiving the horn button in the upper portion of the hub and downwardly projecting means for engaging the top of the wheel rim to secure the board on the wheel.

  • Patent number: 3945328
Abstract: The crank arm of a hinge lock mechanism acts as an over-center latch for a folding leg when the leg is in its extended position perpendicular to the table top and also in its retracted position parallel to the table top. The crank arm is pivotally connected at one end to a support plate on the bottom of the table and is pivotally linked to a support arm on the folding leg. When the crank arm is rotated downwardly, it moves the folding leg far enough away from an apron or abutment so that the leg can be manually swung from its extended position to its retracted position and vice versa. The crank arm is subsequently rotated back to its upper limit in either case to latch the leg in position. The hinge lock mechanism is entirely hidden from view by aprons when the table is upright.
