    Abstract: A film magnetic head in which a soft metal magnetic film having uniaxial magnetic anisotropy is employed as a magnetic pole material, and a magnetic circuit having a magnetic path direction substantially perpendicular to the easy axis direction thereof is provided. The magnetic head records and reproduces signals having frequencies of 1 MHz and higher. According to a first embodiment of the invention the length W of a magnetic pole film in the easy axis direction forming a magnetic path is defined as follows:0.2.ltoreq.d/W.ltoreq.0.3, or d/W.ltoreq.0.15,where d is the 180.degree. magnetic domain wall distance in the magnetic pole film. Alternatively, the length W of a magnetic pole film in the easy axis direction forming a magnetic path and the uniaxial anisotropic constant Ku is defined as follows:50 .mu.m.ltoreq.W.ltoreq.200 .mu.m and 100 J/m.sup.3 .ltoreq.Ku.ltoreq.400 J/m.sup.3, or700 .mu.m.ltoreq.W, and Ku.ltoreq.300 J/m.sup.3.

    Abstract: An optical disk drive apparatus includes a tray into which an optical disk or a cartridge housing therein an optical disk may be inserted. The tray is movable first in a horizontal direction and then in a vertical direction. A cone arm having a cone disk rotatably supported at its distal end is provided and the proximal end is fixedly supported near the entrance of the apparatus where an insertion slot for inserting an optical disk or cartridge is located. The cone arm is flexible and elongated in shape and has its intermediate portion operatively coupled to a bracket fixedly mounted on the tray, so that as the tray moves horizontally and then vertically, the cone arm is automatically deflected to bring the cone disk in engagement with the optical disk, thereby causing the optical disk properly mounted on a spindle motor. Further, an oil damper is interconnected with both a loading/ejecting arm and a shutter opening and closing member.

When the front cover is pivoted in the cover-opening direction, the pin is guided along the guide groove, whereby the rear cover, together with the front cover, is pivoted in the cover-opening direction while the lower end portion of the rear cover is being pivoted with respect to the front cover so as to separate to the rear of the front cover.

    Abstract: An air bearing slider according to the present invention provides a programmable slider wherein the fly height of the read/write head may be conveniently controlled using electrical signals. In an air bearing slider according to the present invention, the rear of the slider is made to fly lower by altering the angle of attack of a rear air bearing region. In one embodiment of the present invention, a slider configuration includes a first air bearing region at the leading edge of the slider and a second air bearing region at the slider's trailing edge. The first air bearing region includes a tapered region. A deformable central region, including a non air bearing surface, joins the first and second air bearing regions and controls the relative angle between the air bearing surfaces. The relative angle is adjusted by deforming the central region using a layer of piezoelectric material which overlays the central region.

The apparatus further requires a fixed magnetic head and other tape guide mechanism which are movably arranged on the path of the tape draw-out device during the apparatus operation for reducing the size thereof. With the tape loading operation, the fixed magnetic head and the other tape guide are moved by a common drive mechanism and held in position by a common stopper.

    Abstract: In the magnetic disc apparatus of the present invention, an air filter for filtration has a filter element bent in a zigzag form with a pitch equal to an interval at which plural magnetic discs are separately housed in a closed casing. The bend lines of the filter element are set on planes where the centers in the thickness direction of the magnetic discs are positioned. The air flow is caused by rotation of the magnetic discs so as to enter the air filter, and is not liable to have stagnation thereof in front of the filter element.
