The flexible wax composition described herein has an average creep stiffness of less than about 30 MPa and can be used in candles, paper coatings, box coatings, fruit coatings, broadsizing for OSB, tire and rubber, polyvinyl chloride piping, crayons, and personal care applications.

In certain embodiments, the metathesis catalyst is a tungsten catalyst or a molybdenum catalyst. In various embodiments, the fatty olefin derivative is a pheromone. Pheromone compositions and methods of using them are also described.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an oil comprising at least one polyunsaturated fatty acid having at least 20 carbon atoms (LC-PUFA). It is found that LC-PUFA-containing oil are susceptible to gelling by formation of microscopic crystals during storage ultimately resulting in unfavorable quality and handling properties. This problem has been particularly observed with a microbial oil comprising at least about 25% by weight LC-PUFA and a moisture content of 0.2 to 5% by weight. Surprisingly, it has been found that a LC-PUFA-containing oil as described above is effectively stable and does not show gelling properties under conventional storage conditions, if the oil composition as such contains less than about 8% preferably less than about 5% by weight of free fatty acid in the residual moisture of the oil.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for enzymatic degumming of unrefined triglyceride oil, said process comprising the following successive steps: (a) providing an unrefined triglyceride oil having a phosphorus content of at least 100 mg per kg of unrefined triglyceride oil; (b) combining the unrefined triglyceride oil with water, an acid and a phospholipase to produce an oil-in-water emulsion having a pH in the range of 2.5 to 4.5; said phospholipase being selected phospholipase A1, phospholipase A2 and combinations thereof; (c) keeping the emulsion at a temperature of 20-90° C. for at least 10 minutes; (d) introducing a base into the emulsion; and (e) separating degummed triglyceride oil from the emulsion. This enzymatic degumming process is extremely effective in removing phospholipids, including non-hydratable phospholipids (NHP), from unrefined vegetable oils and produces degummed vegetable oil in high yield.
