  • Patent number: 11485698
Abstract: Provided is a method capable of industrially efficiently producing acetic acid yielding a good potassium permanganate test result, without costing much. In the acetic acid production method, (1) by-produced acetaldehyde is industrially advantageously removed from a process stream, and (2) a crotonaldehyde concentration in an acetic acid stream from a light ends column is controlled to a specific level or lower, and/or a reflux ratio at a second distillation column is controlled to 0.1 or more. In addition, (3) the method includes the step of subjecting at least one of an aqueous phase and an organic phase of a light ends column overhead condensate to distillation in a crotonaldehyde-removing column; the light ends column is operated at a reflux ratio of 2 or more (when the aqueous phase is refluxed); and the crotonaldehyde-removing column is operated so as to meet a specific condition(s).

  • Patent number: 11473037
Abstract: A two-stage method produces a liquid soap, having an alkaline pH and stable viscosity, so as to be efficacious in controlling pathogens and generating a thick lather which optimizes its cleansing and disinfecting effects. The method involves saponification of natural and/or synthetic oils/fats using of two lyes—potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide—which, when combined in roughly equal proportions, yield a lathery liquid soap without the need for synthetic surfactants or chemical thickeners. The method is also distinctive insofar as it first produces a solid soap concentrate, from which the liquid soap can be made simply by dissolving the solid soap concentrate in water.

  • Patent number: 11426675
Abstract: The present disclosure provides processes and systems for heat integration in ethanol production. In one embodiment, a feed mixture is distilled with one or more distillation units to remove at least a portion of the water, and form a distillation unit bottom stream, a vaporous overhead stream, and a fusel oil stream. Molecular sieve units are regenerated by vacuum or a combination of vacuum and optionally a portion of the product stream to form one or more regenerate streams. A feed tank is configured to receive at least one selected from a condensed portion of the regenerate streams and a portion of a vaporous depressure stream, to form a feed stream. The energy contained in the depressure vapor is recovered by the depressure vapor contacting the feed tank and heating up at least one stream forwarded into the feed tank.

  • Patent number: 11420938
Abstract: A method and a production system for recovering and treating taurine mother liquor, which is used for the process of ethylene oxide taurine production process. As for the treatment of the last mother liquor of taurine, add alkali firstly to the last mother liquor of taurine and then acid to form salt, or add salt directly; then concentrate and crystallize and filter, to remove lots of impurities in taurine mother liquor. This solves the problem of separating impurities, greatly shortening the time of removing impurities. The last mother liquor can also be decolorizes and additional impurities removes by activated carbon, and the removal of salt by mixing ammonia into the mother liquor to obtain the pure taurine mother liquor, thereby recovering the mother liquor and increasing the product yield.

  • Patent number: 11396520
Abstract: The subject invention provides methods and procedures for synthesis and/or semi-synthesis of the novel antibiotic arsinothricin (AST) and derivatives. Arsinothricin (AST), a new broad-spectrum organoarsenical antibiotic, is a non-proteinogenic analog of glutamate that effectively inhibits glutamine synthetase. The subject invention provides chemical synthesis of an intermediate in the pathway of AST synthesis, hydroxyarsinothricin (AST-OH), which can be converted to AST by enzymatic methylation catalyzed by the ArsM As(III) S-adenosylmethionine methyltransferase. The methods provide a source of the novel antibiotic that will be required for future clinical trials. The subject invention also provides AST derivatives as a new class of antibiotics.
