Abstract: A free fatty acid-containing substance, which is a waste liquid or by-product obtained in a process for producing palm oil or which is a hydrolysate of the waste liquid or by-product, is subjected to distillation treatment to obtain a free fatty acid fraction satisfying the requirements (i), (ii) and (iii), and a polyhydroxyalkanoate-producing microorganism is cultured in a culture solution containing the free fatty acid fraction. (i) The content of squalene is 0.05 wt % or less. (ii) The ratio of a peak area of trimethylindene to a peak area of a naphthalene-d8 standard is 110 or less in first-dimensional dynamic headspace-GC/TOFMS analysis. (iii) The ratio of a peak area of butyric acid to a peak area of a naphthalene-d8 standard is less than 10 in first-dimensional dynamic headspace-GC/TOFMS analysis.
Abstract: There is provided a crystalline Form I of anhydrous Treprostinil and processes for the preparation thereof. The crystalline Form I of anhydrous Treprostnil is a stable crystalline form, which can provide steady physicochemical properties for pharmaceutical formulations, and is advantageous widely and safety used in storage, shipment, and handling for commercially considerations.

Abstract: Methods and systems for producing alkyl hydroxyalkanoate from hydroxy carboxylic acid recovery bottoms. The methods generally comprise the steps of obtaining a hydroxy carboxylic acid recovery bottom, adding a mono-alcohol to the hydroxy carboxylic acid recovery bottom to obtain a first mixture, heating the first mixture in the presence of a catalyst to form a reaction product, distilling the reaction product, and recovering an alkyl hydroxyalkanoate fraction.

Abstract: Wax esters (WE) and triacylglycerols (TAG) can be accumulated in large amounts in plant cells. The present invention relates to insect pheromone precursors which are produced as components of WE or TAG in plants. Further the invention concerns means and methods for the production of plant cells producing WE and/or TAG containing insect pheromone precursors in form of either a fatty acid or a fatty alcohol. Said method uses plants where wax esters are modified by desaturase, fatty acyl reductase and wax ester synthase or the triacylglycerol is modified by a desaturase. Finally the insect pheromone precursors can be extracted and used in the manufacturing of insect pheromones from WE and TAG.
