Abstract: A closure device for severing the frangible section between the cap and body of a blow-fill-seal plastic container comprising an expandable ring constructed and arranged to encircle the container cap, an outer ring having at one end internal threads compatible with the external threads located on the neck of the container body and a tamper proof overcap.Counterclockwise rotation of the outer ring transmits uniform upward pressure to the expandable ring which causes tension between the container cap and container body, rupturing the frangible line of weakness on the container, to permit opening of the container. Conversely, clockwise rotation of the outer ring causes compression to rupture the frangible line of weakness. Subsequent counterclockwise rotation opens the container. In either case the container cap is retained within the outer ring and is replaceable on the container.

Abstract: A closure having interrupted threads, wherein the interruptions between thread segments are vertically aligned with and are at least as long as thread segments in the overlapping portions of the turns of the thread. This permits manufacture of the closure by stripping of the closure threads from a mold to obtain a higher rate of production while minimizing the pulled-thread defects previously encountered with this production method. In addition, the invention is also utilized to provide an improved closure and package in which two hand operations by the user are required to remove the closure from a neck, thereby permitting internal pressure to be released through interrupted threads before the closure and neck threads are completely disengaged.

Abstract: The invention relates to a stopper device for a container, in particular a container with a neck, consisting of a single-piece stopper with means for detachably joining the device to the container and to its neck, of single-piece sealing means with a seal or the like, and of means for joining the single-piece sealing means to the single-piece stopper, wherein the means (7) for joining the sealing means (5) to the stopper (2) are means which ensure a rigid and automatic connection, the sealing means (5) being rigidly joined to the stopper (2) by simple mounting of these sealing means (5) inside the stopper (2).

Abstract: A tamper-indicating plastic closure construction is disclosed which includes an annular pilfer band which depends from an annular skirt portion of the closure. The pilfer band is partially detachably connected to the skirt portion by frangible ribs, and remains connected to the skirt portion attendant to removal of the closure from a container. To facilitate such removal, the pilfer band includes a fracturable portion defined by a pair of vertically spaced, vertical scores. In order to substantially prevent any propagation of the upper one of the vertical scores, another score is formed in intersecting relation thereto. Consistent manufacture and reliable performance are further promoted by the formation of a stabilizing score in operative association with the fracturable portion of the pilfer band.

Abstract: A one-piece closure with a snap-on hinged type closure provided with a safety band. When the safety band is still intact, the closure cannot be opened. Once the safety band has been removed, the closure is movable to a lower position relative to the upper edge of the container neck by rotation about a threaded container neck or by downward axial movement. While the closure is in its upper position and the safety band is intact, a catch engages underneath a projection on the base of the closure and prevents the cap from being opened. When the closure is in its lower position, the upper edge of the container neck releases the catch from behind the projection and the sealing cap can be opened. While the safety band is still intact, interaction of an external ratchet-like serration on the container neck and an internal serration on the safety band may prevent the closure from being rotated.

Abstract: A bottle includes a bottle body having a top cover sealing a bottle neck of the bottle body, and a detachable tool chosen from a spoon, a fork, a brush or the like resiliently held in a tool holder fixed under the top cover, so that the tool is always held within the bottle ready for pickup service to pick up seasoning or preserving material filled inside the bottle for convenient and hygienic uses.

Abstract: A container closure and container body assembly in which the container body has a mouth and an external annular or substantially annular projecting bead around the outside of the body below the mouth and in which the closure comprises a cap part and a tamper resistant band connected to the cap part by frangible means in which the tamper resistant band is provided with a plurality of spaced apart individual lugs on the inner surface of the band to co-operate with the external projecting bead around the outside of the container body.

Abstract: A plastic linerless closure for sealing a container includes an integrated sealing mechanism forming at least a part of the top of the closure. The sealing mechanism includes a primary sealing region including a primary sealing flange adapted to engage the top of the container neck during application of the closure, an inner sealing region having an outwardly facing sealing surface which is situated contiguous with the inner surface of the container neck during application of the closure to the container neck and a central non-planar, e.g. concave, region. The inner sealing region is connected in an integrated manner to the primary sealing region and the central region, and the primary sealing flange is connected to the closure top by a hinge region.

The outer surface includes threads adjacent the top of the finish, and the inner surface includes a lower sealing section located solely in a section of the finish spaced downwardly from the upper margin of said finish. A closure for the container includes an inner valve having an outer sealing surface for frictionally engaging only the lower sealing section of the inner finish surface to provide a leak-proof seal for the package.

Abstract: A cap for a container and a method of forming the cap. In the method the cap is molded and includes a plastic skirt provided with a line of weakness. An essentially concave surface of a curling tool engages the lower free end of the skirt and curves it into a curled resilient interfering free end which reduces the internal breath of the plastic skirt prior to capping. Upon capping the curled free end is adapted to provide an interference with the container so that upon initial removal of the cap the line of weakness separates to indicate the condition of the container. The interfering curled free end of the plastic skirt can have a coil, O, U or J cross sectional shape.

Abstract: An anti-tamper container closure assembly includes a container having a orifice defining neck which receives a closure cap. The container has a plurality of projecting anti-rotation teeth positioned below the bottom of the closure cap and an overcap is adapted to be snapped over the closure cap, the overcap having a skirt with inner diameter projecting anti-rotation ribs which index with the container teeth to prevent rotation of the overcap. The overcap is effective to prevent opening of the orifice and is provided with frangeable connecting portions allowing a part of the overcap to be removed from the assembly to provide access to the closure cap for an opening actuation of the closure cap. The overcap skirt is provided with an inner diameter ledge which abuts a closure cap outer diameter ledge to prevent removal of the overcap skirt.

Abstract: A linerless cap for a container and a method of forming the cap. In the method the cap is molded from plastic and includes a top wall, an outer depending skirt and an internal depending substantially annular wall having an upper end integral with and depending from the top wall and a lower free end. Thereafter the free end is engaged by an essentially concave surface of a curling tool to progressively turn the free end away from the internal wall to curve the free end into a curvilinear compressible and resilient free end adapted to be engaged for sealing. The engageable free end of the seal can have a coil, O, U, J or quarter round cross sectional shape and can be a rim, plug or corner seal.

Abstract: A novel tamper-evident closure assembly for a container, such as a bottle, which can incorporate one or more tamper indicators that are severed from the closure assembly when the cap is removed. The tamper indicator can be shaped as a disk or any other distinct shape, such as in the form of a proprietary mark. Additionally, a proprietary mark, such as a trademark, can be placed on the visible surface of the tamper indicator.

Abstract: A tamper resistant package consisting of a container and removable closure includes sealing means comprising an insert disposed in the interior of the container for sealing the container. The insert includes a tear-away section and a tab affixed to the insert at the tear-away section. The tab normally extends upwardly for removing the tear-away section when it is desired to open the container. If the tear-away section is partially or completely broken away from the body of the insert the user is provided with a positive, readily ascertainable indication that the package has been previously opened and possibly tampered with.

Abstract: A closure panel for a composite closure which is formed of a corrosive metal and while the metal of the closure panel is coated on both edges, in the formation thereof a raw edge develops. In lieu of a straight peripheral flange terminating in such raw edge, the peripheral flange has been modified to terminate in a curl with the raw edge being protected by the curl.

Abstract: A sealing cap for a bottle or other container comprises a tubular body and a plug disposed within the through-bore of the tubular body. The plug is displaceable within the through-bore from an initial position in which it seals the through-bore, to an intermediate position in which it is a loose fit so that the container may be evacuated through the body, and then to a final position in which it seals the through-bore. The cap has particular utility for blood sampling bottles, which are evacuated and then pierced through the cap by a fine tubular needle so as to apply suction to the needle, from within the bottle, and thus draw a sample of blood through the needle and into the bottle.

Abstract: A unitary molded plastic cover for a container such as a medicament vial is disclosed in which a removable cap portion is attached by a severable tear strip. A pull ring is disposed around the cap portion and attached to the tear strip through torsion hinge sections which permit pivoting of the ring from its surrounding position to a raised access position for gripping and pulling to remove the tear strip and the cap.
