Abstract: A screw cap closure includes a metal body member with a circular top wall and a depending skirt wall having screw engageable interior projections and in order to facilitate the twisting of the cap an elastomeric flat band encircles the skirt wall and is under peripheral tension and is spaced from the top and bottom edges of the skirt wall. The outside face of the band has a high coefficient of friction.

Abstract: A tamper-proof package includes a vessel, closure and locking member having downwardly and outwardly extending tabs of a contrasting color welded to the vessel. The tabs are frangible to break upon twisting of the cap to provide visibly contrasting evidence of tampering observable from above the package.

Abstract: A container or the like for cleaning preparations comprising a fused closure which consists of a stopper disposed in a closure hole of the container and made of a material which melts at a predetermined temperature and which releases the closure hole for the exit of product packaged in the container. A ring of which the thickness increases radially inwards towards the axis of the hole is integrally formed with the inner peripheral surface of the closure hole. The position and shape of the stopper are stabilized by a film applied by sealing to the outside of the closure hole. The walls of the container are flexible to accomodate changes in pressure inside the container.

Abstract: A tamper indicating closure for a container comprising a threaded cap to which is attached an indicator ring. The indicator ring has a radially inward lower flange that slips into locking engagement with a flange on the neck of the container as the closure is applied to the container. As the closure is removed from the container, the indicator ring is severed along weakened portions so that the lower portion of the indicator ring drops clear of the closure thus providing an indication the closure has been rotated in a direction for its removal from the container.

Abstract: A container lid for liquid transfer having a double-tapered liquid transfer sleeve for providing an air-tight seal around a fluid transfer conduit and having an air passage part.

Abstract: A hollow vertical cyliner is open at its lower end. A deck having an opening communicating with the interior of the cylinder seals the upper end of the cylinder. A cap for the top end has essentially the same shape and size as the top end. The cap has a first relatively small section and a second relatively large section. The first section is secured to a corresponding portion of the top end. The two sections have facing edges which are spaced from each other except for a common central region which defines a second integral living hinge. A prong is secured to the second section and is insertable into and removable out of the opening in the deck.

Abstract: A container having a neck formed with external shoulders and grooves below the shoulders is closed by a plastic cap having a depending skirt formed with interrupted internal beads which lock under the neck shoulders and are received in the neck grooves. A circumferential scoreline is formed in the skirt above the lower bead and is connected to a second scoreline which extends down to the lower edge of the skirt. Adjoining the terminus of the second scoreline is a tab which may be gripped and pulled to tear the skirt upward along the second scoreline and then circumferentially around the first scoreline to remove the lower part of the skirt and make it possible to remove the remaining portion of the cap.The improvement consists in making the bead sections in various truncated conical shapes distributed in various patterns. These shapes facilitate application of the cap to the neck without splitting the former or crushing the latter.

Abstract: Plastic bottle caps of the snap-on type having tamper indicating means such as a tear band. The top wall of the tap overhangs its side wall and the overhanging lip is filleted at an angle of about 30.degree. to increase the difficulty of removing the cap by hand without visibly affecting the tamper indicating means. Also, the cap has interior interrupted beads for snapping over a shoulder of the bottle neck and has ribs in the interruptions for adjusting the magnitude of the snap-on and snap-off forces. The cap is molded on a core having grooves for forming the beads and ribs. The cap may have a non-resilient gasket and a dished top so that it can exert pressure on the gasket.

Abstract: A stopper incorporates a base (1) with a pouring opening (15) and a one-piece cap (2) divided into two sections. The cap (2) is connected to the base (1) through a flexible-strip hinge (3). The part (20) of the cap (2) closer to the flexible-strip hinge (3) and the part (21) further from the hinge are connected to each other through a snap hinge (4). There is at least one opening (17) in the base (1) in which a matching catch (26) on the part (20) engages, whereas the part can still be opened and closed freely through the snap hinge (4).

Abstract: A closure device for bottles comprising a cap with a pilfer or tamper proof strip, and with thread conical screwing means on the neck of the bottle and on the cap. The screwing means comprises insert means adapted to cooperate with a cylindrical part of the neck bottle and a lip outside the insert and designed to provide a longitudinal positioning stop.

Abstract: A stopper is provided, particularly for evacuated blood sample tubes, comprised of a combination of thermoplastic and rubber, which combination utilizes a plurality of circumferentially spaced joints containing an adhesive. The joints serve to mechanically hold the composite body of rubber and plastic together. The arrangement reduces the quantity of rubber used while retaining its desirable sealing properties, and reducing the quantity of relatively inexpensive thermoplastic and its desirable strength properties. The invention takes advantage of the relatively good joining properties of a rubber-adhesive combination, and avoids the relatively poor joining properties of a thermoplastic adhesive combination.

Abstract: The anticocking high torque removal closure assembly comprises a container having a neck, a cap threadingly received on the neck, a first thread on the neck, a second thread in the cap, and a rib in the cap spaced from a revolution of the second thread and having a sharp outer edge. The first thread has an upper surface, a side surface and a lower surface, the second thread has an upper surface, a side surface and a lower surface.A first "allowable cock dimension" (ACD) is defined between a horizontal line through the junction of the side surface and the lower surface of the second thread and a horizontal line through the junction of the neck with the upper surface of the first thread when the cap is received on the neck. A second "minimum cock dimension" (MCD) is defined between a horizontal line through the sharp outer edge of the rib and a horizontal line through the junction between the side surface and the lower surface of the first thread when the cap is received on the neck.

Abstract: Break-away closures are formed by an injection molding process with a closure part in interference path with a forming core for interference in use with a counterpart surface of a container neck. The process and apparatus disclosed permits stripping of the formed closure from the core by selectively creating free encircling space about the interference closure part for expansion thereof during stripping. The closure has detent surface molded therein which assists the stripping operation and the process and apparatus provide for the application of stripping forces at spaced locations simultaneously to permit stripping of the closure in part without axial loading thereof.

Abstract: A one piece plastic closure comprises a base which is attachable to a container and a cap attached to the base of the closure by a hinge. A safety band is molded together with the base, to which it may be attached by webs. The safety band overlays approximately half the perimeter of the cap and its height is generally the same as that of the cap itself. In this way, the cap cannot be grasped in the area opposite the hinge, and thus cannot be opened. A lug may additionally be provided on the cap which is engageable in a corresponding recess in the safety band to provide the closure in a closed and sealed condition, thus holding the closure and preventing it from opening under the effect of excess pressure in the container.

Abstract: A tamper evident closure for a container having a closed endcap with an overcap to coaxially rotate thereabout. The overcap is provided with an integrally formed knife blade which is constructed and arranged to engage a weakened annular band in the container wall near the endcap. The knife blade is located within a well which is an integral part of the overcap. As the overcap is rotated, the knife blade engages and severs the annular band, and separates the closure including the endcap and the rotatable cap from the body of the container. An annular channel may also be provided to support the overcap during rotation and thus maintain the alignment of the blade with the weakened annular band.

Abstract: A two part closure for an open necked container is provided in which a cover member which may be of metal extends over the opening and a holding member which may be of plastic extends over the container neck.

Abstract: An improved composite closure is described which includes a cover portion and a molded plastic ring portion. The plastic ring portion is molded by a new method with top tool core removal which permits formation of inwardly directed tabs or fishhooks on the tamper evident ring. The molded ring also permits the cover to be inserted from the top of the ring rather than upwardly over the ring threads, which is an easier and faster method of assembling a composite closure.

Abstract: A sterilization-resistant, sealed glass container is produced by providing the rim of the glass container with a thermoplastic coating of a baking varnish and then heat-sealing an aluminum/polypropylene composite film on to said coating. The rim of the glass container may, optionally, be pretreated with an adhesion promotor before the baking varnish is applied.

Abstract: A cap for a wide-mouth container has a short inner skirt and a longer outer skirt. The outer skirt has upper and lower internal locking beads which are preferably interrupted with gaps between bead sections. Above the lower locking bead is a circumferential score line. A portion of the outer skirt below the score line is cut away in a horizontal and then an arcuate slit to form a pull tab extending parallel to the score line. The pull tab is joined to the outer skirt by a frangible link. Various locations of said link are disclosed. The container neck is thin walled, having an internal top flange terminating in a first sealing surface which bears against the top of the inner skirt, a groove below the last-mentioned surface and a second sealing surface below the groove which also bears against the inner skirt. The neck also has upper and lower external beads each having shoulders on their lower edges under which the upper and lower internal locking beads of the cap seat.
