  • Patent number: 4854458
Abstract: A closure and container for specimens or the like have interlockable detents which connect together when the closure is forcibly disposed in closing relationship with the container. The upper portion of the container has a dome portion and the closure member has a cooperating dome portion, the detents being formed in the respective dome portions. The detents have surfaces which permit a sealing connection but prevent the release of the closure from the container. The closure member has a neck including a frangible section which must be broken in order to gain entry into the container once closed by the closure member. The closure member also has a cap above the frangible section having screw threads about the exterior periphery which threadedly connect to internal threads within the neck of the closure member adjacent the frangible section so that the container may be reclosed for further use.

  • Patent number: 4848613
Abstract: A tamper-evident closure cap and corresponding container have projections on a skirt of the cap corresponding to projections on a neck of the container. The skirt is conencted to a remainder of the cap by a series of severable tabs. The projections are shaped to override one another when the cap is turned onto said container but to interlock with one another when the cap is turned off said container. When the projections interlock, the force exerted on the cap severs the tabs, thereby severing the skirt from the cap and providing evidence of tampering. The cap and container are operable over a wide rnage of tolerances and the tabs can be very small when compared to previous caps and containers.

  • Patent number: 4846364
Abstract: A bottle or container includes two semispherical parts which are fixed to each other and are equipped with valves at each end. The bottle can have an inner metal lining and a semispherical membrane which presses against the one part of the lining and has a flange welded between the two parts of the lining. The metal lining with membrane and end pieces forms a replaceable unit. By sampling, the bottle first is filled with a counter pressure medium, for example water, until the membrane lies tightly against one half of the bottle. The bottle is then filled with the fluid/gas-sample such that the membrane reverses as water is pressed out and the sample flows in. The membrane will reverse until it presses against the opposite hemisphere, and the bottle thereby is filled with fluid/gas sample.

  • Patent number: 4846361
Abstract: A one-piece molded plastic closure having a tamper-indicating band connected to the closure skirt by rupturable means. The tamper band uses series of solid interiorly projecting beads that come in contact with a transfer bead on the container as the closure is unscrewed. The engagement of the beads and container breaks the band by rupture on the connection means. The beads in the band are arranged in tiers at three different heights on the band. A thick cylindrical section at the bottom of the band assists initial capping. The beads are disposed in the band at an angle equal to the pitch angle of the container threads. This eliminates need for top pressure in capping by the beads following the container thread lowering and driving the beads over the container's transfer bead locking the band in place.

  • Patent number: 4844268
Abstract: A plastic cap for a container neck formed with upper and lower external locking beads has a top disk from which depends an upper outer skirt having an upper internal locking bead and a larger diameter lower skirt having a lower internal locking bead. Between the skirt sections is an external outward extending flange which is weakened by a notch cut in its outer corner. The interior of the skirt is formed with an outward extending shoulder at a lower elevation than said external outward extending flange and the lower skirt wall intersects said outward extending shoulder in a circular intersection. A circumferential line of minimum thickness extends downward-inward from said notch to said line of intersection. When the cap is seated on the neck the upper and lower beads interengage, the cap cannot be removed without evidence of tampering.

  • Patent number: 4844272
Abstract: A closure system includes a container and a closure comprising a cap having a cylindrical skirt with internal threads, an annular tamper band having an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of the skirt forming an annular gap therebetween, and flexible bridges joining the tamper band to the free end of the cap skirt. The bridges have angularly spaced end segments extending radially outward and radially inwardly from the skirt and tamper band respectively, and an intermediate segment extending arcuately around the gap between the end segments. The closure is integrally molded with the bridges and tamper band extending radially outward in a common plane transverse to the central axis of the cap. The bridges flex to allow axial extension of the tamper band for bonding to a shoulder or transfer bead on the container. Unscrewing of the cap fractures the bridges, preferably at a section of reduced cross-section provided by notches at the intersection of the bridges with the cap skirt.

  • Patent number: 4844271
Abstract: A deep-drawn screw cap of aluminum for glass bottles under internal pressure, where the transition area between the upper end face 1 to the lateral thread face 2 up to now was always evenly deep-drawn, now is to have at least one undeformed partial area 8. Because of this, sealing against the lateral edge 7 of the mouth is partially disrupted and a chance for the escape of gas is purposely provided in case the internal pressure in the glass bottle should rise too high. If required, a plurality of such partial areas 8 may be provided. In the deep-drawing device for a sealing head for the production of such screw caps the inner recess 12 should provide at least one partial enlargement 14 oriented towards the center axis 13 and extending approximately to the diameter of the preceding recess 11.
