  • Patent number: 4538614
Abstract: The invention relates to an athletic garment for women which includes two front panels, a rear panel, shoulder straps, and connecting means for connecting the front panels together to secure the garment to the wearer. The garment includes various types of elastic material of varying elasticity and spring rates to provide the necessary support for breasts while securing the garment properly in the vertical direction to the torso of the wearer. In the vicinity of the securing means on the front of the garment, it is relatively inelastic to provide separation desired by the wearer of such a garment. The front and rear panels are of a generally planar configuration in their normal disposition and expand to the form of the person wearing the garment for support.

  • Patent number: 4538615
Abstract: A multipanel foundation garment is disclosed in which each of the panels has a unidirectional line of stretch and has a shape selected such that the lines of stretch are in the direction of movement of the contacting body part. Such a foundation garment performs its normal function of confining stationary fatty parts of the body and further confines those parts during movement of the body. In a particular embodiment, a panty girdle is comprised of six panels. A front panel has the direction of stretch in the longitudinal direction with respect to the wearer and is surrounded by two elongate, side panels together forming an ogee frame and which have lines of stretch in the mutually opposing bias directions. Two back panels, connected to each other along their respective edges and connected along the other edges to the edges of the side panels have their respective lines of stretch in the transverse direction.

  • Patent number: 4535481
Abstract: A back opening gown of nonwoven material is provided having a pair of sleeves, a front panel joined at its upper lateral edges to the sleeves, the front panel flaring pronouncedly below the sleeves, and a pair of side panels attached to the sleeves and to the lateral edges of the front panel below the sleeves, each of the side panels having a lower opposed corner section which forms an obtuse angle with respect to the bottom edge of the front panel. The upper portion of the gown conforms substantially to the torso of a wearer. The gown extends from the neck to the ankles of the wearer and the flaring front panel provides girth to the lower portion of the gown to permit the wearer to spread his legs while in a seated position without being constrained by the gown material. The angled edges of the corner sections cause the edges of the sections to be located clear of a floor while the wearer is seated.

  • Patent number: 4528699
Abstract: Improved clothing to be worn by a woman for breast feeding a baby which includes an upper member having a lower edge and a lower member having an upper edge. The upper edge of the lower member is made of such a resilient material that the upper edge tends to assume a nonaccess position, covering the breasts, but which can be pulled down to an access position under the breast to make it accessible to the baby. The upper and lower members are so positioned relative to each other when worn by a woman that at least a portion of the upper member overlaps the lower member. The lower edge of the upper member is suspended to an area below the breast to permit the upper member to shield the breast when the upper edge of the lower member is in either the access or nonaccess positions.

  • Patent number: 4525875
Abstract: An improved chest protector including additional protection to the sternum area of an athlete's chest. The additional protection is provided by relatively rigid plates bonded to the conventional shock-absorbing chest protector material on the side opposite the wearer's body and directly over the sternum area. The plates distribute the impact from a high speed object over a relatively large area of the shock-absorbing material, thus allowing the chest protector to absorb more of the object's energy than is possible with prior chest protectors.

  • Patent number: 4517910
Abstract: An embroidered design adapted to be heat sealed to another article. The design is embroidered on a substrate made of woven polyester fabric. The substrate is bonded at the underside thereof to a low melt thermoplastic adhesive film to form a lamination. The design is thereafter traced along the outer and inner peripheries thereof with a severing tool to remove all portions of the lamination except only the design proper consisting of the embroidering thread and the plastic film portions thereunder. The design may then be heat sealed to another article such as a garment with the garment proper being exposed between adjacent portions of the thread to simulate a design embroidered directly onto the garment.
