  • Patent number: 6676112
Abstract: A safety device for a winch for minimizing line whipping when the line improperly releases. A weight is coupled to the line at a selected region on the line when the line is extended from the winch to winch an object. When the extended line suddenly releases the weight provides a weighted pivot for the released cable. The safety method provides coupling a weight to the line and, locking the weight at a selected region of the line when the line is extended from the winch for winching. When the extended line suddenly releases the locked weight provides a weighted pivot for the released cable.

  • Patent number: 6672526
Abstract: An automatic two-speed transmission for a fishing reel comprises a spool mounted on a spool shaft, a drive sleeve mounted on a drive shaft disposed parallel to the spool shaft. A low gear driver nonrotatably mounted on the drive shaft engages the low gear when the low gear rotates at a speed less than the drive shaft, the low gear driver disengaging from the low gear when the low gear rotates at a speed greater than the drive shaft. The low gear drives a low pinion gear that turns the spool. A high gear is disposed on the drive sleeve between clutch washers, the clutch washers providing frictional resistance against the high gear in order to engage the high gear, which in turn engages a high pinion gear that turns the spool. A tension preset device selectably adjusts the drive sleeve and the drive shaft axially relative to each other, squeezing the high gear between the clutch washers.

  • Patent number: 6659429
Abstract: A self-locking reduction device used in a winch has a support to which an input shaft is rotatably mounted. The input shaft has an eccentric shaft portion. Three pins are formed at regular intervals on a circumference around the center of the eccentric shaft portion on an external gear that is mounted to the eccentric shaft portion. Three bores are formed at regular intervals on the support facing the external gear on a circumference around the center of the input shaft. The pins are engaged with the bores so that the external gear may be eccentrically moved. The number of internal teeth of the internal gear is slightly more than that of the external teeth of the external gear, thereby providing a reliable self-locking reduction device.

  • Patent number: 6655620
Abstract: Simple configuration in a low-gear-ratio type oscillating mechanism for realizing at high transmission efficiency improved lay in the line windings. Spinning reel oscillating mechanism (6), a mechanism that reciprocates the spool (12) in cooperation with rotation of handle (1), is furnished with gear piece (21) and slider (22). The gear piece rotates cooperatively with handle rotation, and is a component on whose one lateral face first and second cam portions (21a), (21b) are formed rim-wise. The slider is attached, immovably in the spool axial direction, at its tip to the rearward end of a spool shaft 20 for the spool, and has: a first cam engager (22a) that extends in a direction intersecting the spool shaft and engages with the first cam, and a second cam engager (22b) that extends in the same direction as the first cam engager and engages with the second cam; and is for reciprocating in the spool axial direction by engagement with either the two cams or the two cam engagers.

  • Patent number: 6651961
Abstract: A multi-block rigging system for a heavy crane, pulling or lifting device. The system uses sheave blocks in series orientation to enable the use of standard, economical or preferred, size winch drums and standard, economical or preferred, diameter and length wire rope, each forming a separate set of reeving lines. Each set of reeving lines moves its corresponding load block a proportional distance of the total travel length for the load hook. Alternatively, different line parts of line for each reeved set enables different travel speeds of the load block for different capacity requirements.

  • Patent number: 6651920
Abstract: A coil winding system and process is provided that includes a coil winding fixture and a coil press fixture. The coil winding fixture includes a pair of winding arms each having a set of in-line winding pins. The sets of in-line pins are arranged parallel to one another in one axis, and form an angle to another axis. Magnetic wire is machine wound into the slots between the pins to form coil phases, and, advantageously the individual coils can be wound together to minimize spatial tolerance build-up between phases. Likewise the slots are arranged parallel and adjacent one another to ensure that each winding is parallel to the next to maximize efficiency of the coils. The press fixture includes a forming press and a saddle to form the wound coils into a predetermined shape using heat and pressure applied to the press fixture.

  • Patent number: 6648303
Abstract: A winding-down side pilot port of a control valve is of a 2-port construction comprising a normal winding-down side port having a large pressure receiving area and a free fall side port having a small pressure receiving area, wherein in the free fall operation carried out by setting a motor to a small capacity, a pilot pressure of a winding-down side remote control valve is supplied to the free fall side port through a mode switching valve. Thereby, a stroke of the control valve can be suppressed so that a speed of a motor does not exceed an allowable speed.

  • Patent number: 6648267
Abstract: An improved web material dispenser that is designed to dispense web material, such as toilet tissue or the like. The dispenser is able to retain a roll containing tissue at a dispensing position until the tissue has been exhausted from the roll. The dispenser senses that the tissue is exhausted from the roll, and only then permits a reserve roll to be rotated into a dispensing position. Thus, the dispenser ensures that the tissue from each roll is used up before permitting access to a reserve roll. The invention also provides a new web material roll that utilizes a “double core”, as well as a method of making the “double core”.

  • Patent number: 6634621
Abstract: A lifting device for lifting and moving objects with minimal effort and a method for using the same is provided. The lifting device has a cable attachable to an object and a handle on the cable. Sensors in the handle may sense vertical pressure exerted on the handle and may put out a current to a variable-speed motor in a housing of the lifting device. The motor may release or may retrieve the cable at a speed dependent upon the amount of pressure applied, thereby raising or lowering the object. Pressure of three to five pounds is sufficient to lift any object. The operator may move the object in any direction up to a radius determined by the length of the cable from the object to the housing. The housing may have an upper portion that may slide forward relative to a lower portion. Consequently, this lengthens the radius of movement allowed to the operator.

  • Patent number: 6634586
Abstract: An anti-reversional mechanism for a trolling reel is to provide a ratchet wheel on a pressing wheel of the trolling reel, and two pawl members detachably engaged with the ratchet wheel for preventing the pressing wheel from reversional rotation. Each of the pawl members has an elongated slot. A control ring is elastically clamped on the periphery of the pressing wheel and has two driving rods respectively received in the elongated slots of the pawl members. Since the orientation of the elongated slot and the displacement direction of the control ring form a predetermined included angle, the pawl members are driven by the control rods of the control ring to be disengaged with said ratchet wheel while the pressing wheel rotates in a right direction such that the pressing wheel can rotate freely.
