  • Patent number: 10061742
Abstract: Techniques pertaining to advertising through a digital data network are disclosed. Advertisement information is embedded in multimedia data stream as structured metadata, and transmitted through networks. Multimedia players installed in different locations, or zones, in a data network are configured to receive the stream data, and detect the presence of the embedded metadata. Through a network interface in the player, the metadata information is transmitted to and displayed on a controller. A user input interface in the controller allows a user to response to the displayed metadata and select to obtain the desired information accordingly.

  • Patent number: 9998802
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing variable-length media clips based upon a received media stream. An exemplary system for providing media clips to users includes a database comprising a list of rules associated with a plurality of programs, as well as a first server and a second server. The first server receives information about a particular program being viewed by a media player and obtains rules from the database for the identified program that are transmitted to the media player. The second server receives a media clip of the particular program being viewed from the media player, wherein the media clip is created at the media player in accordance with the rules corresponding to the program, and subsequently makes the media clip available to the users.

  • Patent number: 9990641
Abstract: A method and apparatus for finding predictive cross-category search queries for behavioral targeting in a networked online display advertising system. The methods include aggregating a training model dataset, the training model dataset comprising a history of clicks corresponding to historical advertisements. The training model dataset also contains plurality of targeting categories related to the history of clicks. Various techniques are disclosed for selecting a plurality of features from the training model dataset and calculating a click probability for a subject advertisement to be clicked by a user from a page, the calculating operations using features of the page that is to be presented to the user. Embodiments include mapping a particular query to one of the targeting categories and then presenting the subject advertisement selected on the basis of the value of the click probability. Normalization scales down the value of the click probabilities to filter out false positive categories.

  • Patent number: 9881320
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for targeting segments of customers. A system maps users to targeting segments based on a respective purchase history of the users, and receives a segment identifier from a server, the segment identifier to be associated with a targeting segment from the targeting segments for anonymously identifying the targeting segment. Next, the system associates the segment identifier with the targeting segment and users mapped to the targeting segment, and sends, to the server, the segment identifier and unique user identifiers of the users mapped to the targeting segment associated with the segment identifier, the unique user identifiers masking respective identities of the users from the server and the segment identifier masking an identity of the targeting segment associated with the segment identifier. The system then instructs the server to deliver selected invitational content to at least one unique user identifier associated with the segment identifier.

  • Patent number: 9836759
Abstract: Rewards programs in which rewards are awarded for a series of transactions using a universal transaction associating identifier to associate transactions in common within each rewards program in a reward processing system. The system includes resource providers, a rewards program rule implementer having access to a rewards program database, and an implementer processor. The implementer processor receives transaction data whenever a transaction occurs using the universal transaction associating identifier, determines when a consumer has performed the transactions satisfying rules requirements, and identifies and awards a reward, including vouchers, for the consumer. The reward processing system generates a universal transaction associating identifier from a plurality of identification sources and provides for objects containing the universal transaction associating identifier. The reward processing system issues and redeems vouchers exchangeable for rewards.
