  • Patent number: 4783890
Abstract: Method of repairing a steam generator tube by means of a liner, in which the mechanical deformation (19) of the liner (15), by expansion in its end part opposite the expanded end (16) inside the tube plate (11), is located at a limited height, and the parameters of the mechanical deformation (19) are calculated in accordance with the welding parameters subsequently applied. These parameters are determined in accordance with the parameters of the initial mechanical deformation (19) so as to obtain relief of the stresses more particularly in the critical zones (19a, 19b) of the mechanical deformation.

  • Patent number: 4783906
Abstract: A lead frame assembly comprises a stamped and formed lead frame having spaced pairs of electrical terminals and other contact sections. Severable sections initially interconnect potential electrical circuit sections of the lead frame separating the lead frame into separate metal members defining discrete electrical circuits if severed. A dielectric covering is molded over the lead frame exposing the pairs of terminals and other contact sections for termination or electrical engagement. Openings are formed in the housing exposing the severable sections of the lead frame for severing, to be selectively severed creating separate electrical circuit sections, or to be retained unsevered, as desired. After the molding of the covering over the lead frame, the article thus fabricated can be customized by selective severing and connecting of components as desired. Thus a method has been described for making a customizable lead frame assembly.

  • Patent number: 4782576
Abstract: For adjustment of the relative positions of two machine parts, at least one of the machine parts is provided with projections outwardly formed by stamping, the projections having contact surfaces which lie against the other machine part. The adjustment is performed by setting the projections back under the influence of a pressing force according to requirements. By this operation a relatively large contact surface can be provided. The deformation process takes place exclusively in the transition region between the projection and the rest of the machine part. The restoring forces are relatively small and relatively constant over the entire restoring range.

  • Patent number: 4782571
Abstract: A method and apparatus for securing straight tubes between two tube sheets in a pressure-tight manner, especially in the manufacture of heat exchangers. Tubes are inserted, with play, in bores of the tube sheets. One end of each tube is hydraulically expanded via a pressure medium to thereby press this one end against the associated tube sheet. The one end is secured to the associated tube sheet, preferably by being welded thereto. Each tube is heated in conformity with a prescribed prestress that is to be produced in secured ones of the tube to take into account subsequent operating conditions to push a portion of the non-secured other end of the tube out of its associated tube sheet until a predetermined difference in length between the cold and heated-up states of the tube is pushed out.

  • Patent number: 4782587
Abstract: An apparatus for holding a slider includes a holder body defining a space for receiving a pull tab, and a slider support having a first seat and a bore below the first seat. A locking lever is pivotally disposed in the space and has a locking projection. A supporting arm is angularly movable between an inclined position in which its second seat is positioned remotely from the first seat and it presses the locking lever so that the projection is retracted into the bore, and an upright position in which the second seat is positioned adjacent to the first seat. As the arm is angularly moved from the inclined position to the upright position, the locking lever is allowed to turn so that the projection projects through the bore for engagement with the slider's pull tab.

  • Patent number: 4782568
Abstract: The invention relates to a press roll arranged to interact with a second roll in the wet end of a paper or paper board machine for forming a nip between the rolls. In the press roll a surface is arranged to be pressed against the second roll and is made of an elastic material for extending the nip. In order to provide a simple and versatile structure, the surface made of an elastic material is formed by a separate shell portion which surrounds a body of the press roll and is positioned over its entire length at a distance from the body. The shell portion is supported to be stationary with respect to the body by means of end flanges provided in the ends of the body, so that the shell portion is able to yield over the entire length thereof radially inwards towards the body locally at the nip point.

  • Patent number: 4780958
Abstract: A contact terminal for insertion into a plated through-hole of a printed circuit board is formed from thin metal stock of uniform thickness with a tubular compliant mounting section. A plurality of slits are spaced around the mounting section, and along one side of each slit are a pair of outward projections to engage the wall of the plated through-hole so that the metal on one side of each slit is deflected radially inwardly by the plated through-hole when the terminal is inserted, to mechanically secure the terminal therein. Outer edges of the projections along the slits penetrate the plating material during insertion. A method for making such a terminal includes piercing the mounting portion area of the blank, forming slits therein, forming projections along one side of each slit to extend out of the plane of the blank, and rolling at least that portion of the terminal into a tubular shape so that the pairs of projections extend radially outwardly.

  • Patent number: 4777721
Abstract: An apparatus and method for temporarily sealing holes in printed circuit boards are disclosed. The apparatus comprises two major assemblies: a heater block assembly and a vacuum table assembly. The heater block assembly employs a temperature controlled, insulated heater block having a surrounding, movable vacuum collar. A flexible, thermally conductive vacuum skin is mounted on the movable vacuum collar and forms a vacuum chamber in cooperation with a movable vacuum table having a flat, thermally conductive porous plate whose upper surface is parallel to the vacuum table surface. A cooling block in contact with the thermally conductive porous plate cools the porous plate. A sandwich comprising a porous release sheet, the printed circuit board, a thermodeformable material and a thermally conductive cover sheet are positioned on the cooled porous plate. The vacuum table and sandwich are moved together so that the table forms a sealing relation with the flexible, thermally conductive vacuum skin.
