  • Patent number: 6763589
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the industrial manufacture of a formwork panel in a continuous manner. In this process, a corrugated reinforcing metal core is manufactured in the form of a continuous metal core band. The metal core band is supplied onto a main conveyor. Simultaneously, a mixture of components that react with each other to make an insulating foam, is prepared and continuously injected at the inlet of the main conveyor. The foam that is being formed and expands along the main conveyor, is compressed so as to form to a continuous main body band having a given height and given thickness. This continuous main body band incorporating the continuous metal core band. Last of all, the continuous main body band and the continuous metal core band incorporated therein are cut at the outlet of the main conveyor to obtain the requested panels.

  • Patent number: 6760972
Abstract: A machine may produce a tube having textured internal and external surfaces in a single operation. Inner and outer knurling tools may form the textured surfaces. The texturing of the internal and external surfaces may be helical patterns of ribs and grooves. The height of the ribs formed in the internal and external surfaces may be less than about 35 mils. The angles of the patterns relative to a longitudinal axis of the tube may be less than about 45°. The angle of the helical pattern allows textured tubes to be used as heat exchanger elements wherein flow is directed substantially coaxial to the longitudinal axes of the tubes. The helical pattern formed in the external surface may be oriented in a right hand or left hand helical orientation. Similarly, the helical pattern formed in the internal surface may be oriented in a right hand or left hand orientation.

  • Patent number: 6754942
Abstract: Disclosed are a method for assembling a polishing while inspecting for air leakage in the polishing head and an apparatus for performing the same. By the present invention, a polishing head may be tested for air leakage at each assembly step thereof, so that the polishing head may be assembled free of air leakage, thereby reducing testing time of the polishing head, and failure of the polishing head due to air leakage may be prevented. The apparatus includes a housing supporting the polishing head and having coupling lines coupled with ends of tubes provided in the assembled polishing head, or the polishing head being assembled. A pneumatic pressure regulating section selectively supplies positive pressure or vacuum to the tubes through the coupling lines. A sensor section detects the pressure and level of vacuum in the tubes. A determining section determines if there is air leakage in the polishing head.

  • Patent number: 6754955
Abstract: Using sinker electrode discharge machining tools, damaged portions of partitions of the turbine which have been removed and replaced with weld material of increased thickness may be shaped and contoured to blend with the suction and pressure sides of the partitions. The diaphragm containing the partitions is located in a tank containing dielectric material. A numerically controlled EDM machine directs first and second sinker EDM tools having surfaces corresponding to designed surfaces of the trailing edge portions of the partitions applied to contour and shape the opposite surfaces of the weld material to blend with the pressure and suction sides of the partitions. A third EDM tool is used to shape the juncture at opposite ends of each partition with the arcuate surfaces of the inner and outer bands.

  • Patent number: 6754954
Abstract: The difficulty of working with titanium has inhibited the adoption of titanium compressor wheels in automotive air boost devices. The invention provides an economical process for the manufacture of titanium compressor wheels. A hybrid process is disclosed, wherein a forging process is used to produce a near net shape pattern including filled in areas (10, 11) which must be subsequently machined or milled away to produce the net shape compressor wheel. Using the hybrid or two-step process, the technical complexity and time investment in each step is greatly reduced, flaws as associated with the casting technique are eliminated, the process allows itself to be fully automated, the dimensional accuracy of the final product is greater than with conventional techniques, and the strength of the compressor wheel is increased as compared to cast product.

  • Patent number: 6751849
Abstract: A movable contact arrangement suitable for use in a switching device has a rigid contact body and a flexible conductor piece connecting the contact body to a fixed conductor. The contact body is connected to the conductor piece by mechanically compressing a section of a semifinished product in the form of a cable or strand, with the flexible conductor piece being formed by an uncompressed part of the semifinished product. The compressing operation can also be used at the same time to produce the contact body from the semifinished product. The method described allows low-cost production of contact modules for power circuit breakers used in sophisticated mechanical and electrical equipment.
