  • Patent number: 4512109
Abstract: A rolling gear apparatus for an involute tooth gear cutting machine that rests on an engine bed of the machine. A primary carriage is longitudinally movable in both directions on the engine bed and carries at its top a secondary carriage that is guided in longitudinal movement in both directions. A crank element is connected to the secondary carriage and is glidingly movable in a guideway that is angularly adjustable relative to the engine bed. A roll-circle member is carried by the primary carriage and is connected to the secondary carriage through a band drive. The movement path II of the secondary carriage is at an oblique angle to the movement path I of the primary carriage to provide improved selectivity in adjusting the base-circle diameter of a toothed-wheel gear blank connected to the roll-circle member.

  • Patent number: 4510826
Abstract: An attachment for a screwgun includes a hollow barrel and a hollow sleeve which is adapted for sliding movement with respect to the barrel. The sleeve and barrel are biased apart by a spring. A drive rod which extends through the hollow portions of the sleeve and barrel coacts with a screwgun to transfer the driving force of the screwgun to a fastener. A feed tube is attached to the barrel by a hinge which extends through a slot in the sleeve. An outlet end of the feed tube is in communication with a portal in the barrel through which a fastener may be inserted into the barrel when the feed tube is in a first position. In a second feed tube position, the outlet end of the feed tube and the portal of the barrel are spaced from each other.

  • Patent number: 4501054
Abstract: A hand held tool for installing compression rings includes a pair of relatively reciprocable coaxial cylindrical independently spring biased elements housed within a cylindrical handle which includes mode control means automatically preconditioned for enabling the tool to perform either an installation or ejection operation. The mode control means includes a cylindrical radial cavity containing plural spring biased spherical ball detents and extends into corresponding portion of the outer reciprocable element. The positioning of a tapered central section of the inner reciprocable element coincides with the cavity so that one of the spherical ball detents normally sits within a hollow defined by the taper. When one spherical ball detent, in response to the mode control means being preconditioned by depressing a front end or shaft portion of the inner element, is positioned to lock the outer member to the handle, this allows the ring to be installed onto the cam shaped front end of the outer element.

  • Patent number: 4497227
Abstract: A ratchet reversing mechanism of the shifting pawl type is operated by a reversing apparatus which is confined to a small arcuate segment of the work-turning member, leaving space over the work-turning member for a quick-release mechanism and for attachment of a speeder ring. A switching ring lies over the pawl and includes a spring-receiving recess which positions a compression spring in a radial plane above the pawl, one end of the spring engaging the pawl and the other end of the spring engaging the switching ring at a location radially outwardly of the engagement with the pawl, such that the spring extends only over the segment of the work-turning member defined by the recess in the work-turning member which receives the pawl. A second pawl is provided in another embodiment of the invention.
