Patent number: 10212896Abstract: An emitter (120) has, in a water intake part thereof, a water intake amount regulating part for preventing low-pressure liquid from flowing in. The water intake amount regulating part has a valve body (214) and a securing part (215). When the pressure of the liquid meant to flow into the emitter (120) is less than a set value, the valve body (214) does not move with the securing part (215), preventing the liquid from flowing into the emitter (120). When the pressure of the liquid is equal to or greater than the set value, the valve body (214) bends downstream to open the flow channel for the liquid.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2014Date of Patent: February 26, 2019Assignee: ENPLAS CORPORATIONInventor: Masahiro Kidachi

Patent number: 10195471Abstract: A tank on a firefighting aircraft initially is loaded with water. A polymer gel emulsion vessel is provided on the aircraft, but is not activated and mixed with tank water until such polymer gel preparation is initiated by an operator. When initiated, a pump pulls water from the tank and doses it with gel emulsion. Double elbows and/or the pump impeller fully activates the polymer gel. The activated polymer gel is mixed within the tank by one of a variety of systems including mixing paddles or sparging with gas. In one embodiment, a hollow tower of telescoping form has a float to keep an upper end near a surface in the tank and a sparging gas entry is a controlled distance below the surface, such that gas of limited pressure, such as from a ram air inlet can sparge and mix the water and activated polymer gel emulsion effectively.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2016Date of Patent: February 5, 2019Inventor: Leonard E. Doten

Patent number: 10174730Abstract: A fuel injector for use in delivering fuel to an internal combustion engine includes a nozzle having a valve needle which is moveable with respect to a valve needle seating through a range of movement between a fully-closed position and a fully-open position to control fuel delivery through at least one nozzle outlet, whereby movement of the nozzle needle is controlled by fuel pressure within a control chamber. A nozzle control valve controls fuel flow into and out of the control chamber to pressurize and depressurize the control chamber, respectively. The fuel injector also includes a variable flow passage in communication with the control chamber through which fuel flows out of the control chamber at a variable rate throughout the range of movement of the valve needle so that movement of the valve needle is damped to a greater extent as it approaches the fully-open position.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2010Date of Patent: January 8, 2019Assignee: DELPHI TECHNOLOGIES IP LIMITEDInventor: Anthony Thomas Harcombe

Patent number: 10175032Abstract: A personal protection apparatus includes a wearable covering, a reservoir supported on the wearable covering and containing a sprayable fluid and includes a valve operable to control the flow of fluid from the reservoir. The apparatus further includes a circuit having a force-sensing resistor for actuating the valve. The force-sensing resistor is disposed on a thumb covering and is activated under pressure when the wearer's thumb is positioned between the index finger and middle finger. Patent number: 10149992Abstract: A fire suppression system in which the water supply line (108) is fitted with repeating arrays of sprinkler heads (102, 106). Each array is substantially identical and is composed of two side-discharge sprinklers (106) and one vertical-discharge sprinkler (102). The side-discharge sprinklers (106) in each array are aimed so that their coverage areas point in opposite directions. The trigger (109) for the vertical-discharge sprinkler (102) has a lower activation temperature (Tv) than the activation temperatures (Th) of the side-discharge sprinklers (106) so that the vertical-discharge sprinkler (102) will activate earlier than either of the side-discharge sprinklers (106). The vertical-discharge sprinkler (102) may include a heat collector (104) to facilitate early activation of its trigger (109). The fire suppression system and method harness the working power of working of multiple orientations of fire sprinklers to produce, in effect, a super fire sprinkler system and method.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2016Date of Patent: December 11, 2018Assignee: Firebird Sprinkler Company LLCInventor: Jeffrey J.
