  • Patent number: 10148508
Abstract: A method of signaling between Ethernet transceivers along a link is disclosed. The method includes advertising first and second supported data rates between the transceivers during an autonegotiation sequence. The link is then trained to train transceiver operating parameters with a training sequence of symbols. The training includes initiating the training sequence to support the first data rate, determining whether the link can operate at the first data rate, and transferring control information requesting a retrain at a second data rate different than the first data rate if the link cannot support the first data rate. The link is retrained, in response to the control information, to train the parameters for operation at the second data rate. The retraining is carried out without repeating the autonegotiation sequence. The link is then operated in a data transfer mode at the second data rate.

  • Patent number: 10148484
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a novel method for distributing control-channel communication load between multiple controllers in a network control system. In some embodiments, the controllers manage physical forwarding elements that forward data between several computing devices (also called hosts or host computers), some or all of which execute one or more virtual machines (VMs). The method of some embodiments distributes a controller assignment list to the host computers. The host computers use this list to identify the controllers with which they need to interact to perform some of the forwarding operations of their associated logical forwarding elements. In some embodiments, agents executing on the host computers (1) review the controller assignment list to identify the appropriate controllers, and (2) establish control channel communications with these controllers to obtain the needed data for effectuating the forwarding operations of their associated physical forwarding elements.

  • Patent number: 10070456
Abstract: A base station schedules OFDMA resource blocks for M2M communication devices. The base station exchanges wireless communications with wireless user equipment. From the wireless user equipment, the base station receives transmission error data characterizing the wireless communications transferred from the wireless user equipment. Based on the wireless transmission error data, the base station selects an orthogonal mode or a shared mode for M2M communications. If orthogonal mode is selected, the base station schedules contiguous resource blocks for the M2M devices, so the resource blocks use contiguous frequencies and contiguous timeslots that are not shared with the wireless user equipment. If shared mode is selected, the base station schedules non-contiguous resource blocks for the M2M devices, so the non-contiguous resource blocks use non-contiguous frequencies and non-contiguous timeslots that are shared with the wireless user equipment.

  • Patent number: 9980145
Abstract: Techniques which prevent rogue devices from continued access to a wireless communication system. A control element directs access points as to which mobile stations to service. Each access point maintains a record of the mobile stations it is servicing. At the direction of the control element, one or more access points send ACK (acknowledgement) messages when hearing messages from a rogue device. When the rogue device sends a message, it expects an ACK message in response, but those additional ACK messages interfere with the responsive ACK message, causing the rogue device to never hear the responsive ACK message. The rogue device assumes its message was not received, so it retries sending of that message. When the rogue device retries sending of its message, the responsive ACK message is similarly interfered with, until the rogue device concludes that its connection has been lost.

  • Patent number: 9907052
Abstract: A wireless communication device in a wireless network sets management information notification cycles at specified time intervals and transmits management information containing receive timing information showing its own position to start receiving information, receive window information, and receive cycle information. Another wireless communication device receiving that management information links it to a communication device number for the corresponding wireless communication device and stores the receive timing, the receive window information, and the receive cycle information. When sending information, the receive start position of the corresponding communication device is found from the receive timing information, the receive window information, and the receive cycle information of the other communication and information is then transmitted at that timing. An asynchronous ad-hoc communication wireless network can therefore be configured without a particular control station.

  • Patent number: 9887826
Abstract: The present invention has an object to provide a communication system capable of minimizing effects due to a delay among a plurality of base station devices as much as possible in scheduling for communication with a terminal device in cooperation among the plurality of base station devices. Cells1 to 3 can each perform scheduling without using information for scheduling notified from one or a plurality of cells among pieces of information for scheduling notified from other cells. For example, in a case where an interface between the cell1 and cell3 has a large delay amount, the cell1 performs scheduling without using information S13 notified to the cell1 by the cell3, and the cell3 performs scheduling without using information S11 notified to the cell3 by the cell1.

  • Patent number: 9860039
Abstract: A technique for assigning pilot signals to user equipments is described. The user equipments access a radio base station that provides radio access. As to a method aspect of the technique, an access burst including initial pilot signals is received from the user equipments, wherein at least two of the user equipments apply simultaneously the same initial pilot signal. A multicast channel to the at least two user equipments is estimated based on the received access burst. A combined signal power received at the radio base station is computed for the at least two user equipments based on the estimated multicast channel. A message to the at least two user equipments is sent using the multicast channel. The message is indicative of the combined signal power and assigns different pilot signals to the at least two user equipments, wherein the assignment depends for each of the at least two user equipments on the combined signal power and a signal power received at the respective user equipment.

  • Patent number: 9859949
Abstract: Blind interference cancellation is described for wireless networks in which a subject base station or cancellation apparatus obtains semi-static information for at least one of its neighboring cells. The base station measures the noise level of each of the neighboring cells based on samples it takes of uplink transmissions in each of the neighboring cells. The neighboring cells are then ranked for interference cancellation based on their relative noise levels. The base station performs discontinuous transmission (DTX) detection to identify at least one interfering user equipment (UE) in the neighboring cell and cancels interference attributable to those identified interfering UEs. The DTX detection and cancellation are then repeated for the remaining neighboring cells in the order they are ranked.
