    Abstract: Disclosed are coating compositions, wearlayer compositions and surface covering products which utilize wearlayer compositions. The wearlayer compositions of the present invention are capable of at once exhibiting high initial gloss values and excellent resistance to scuff, stain and gloss loss. Such wearlayer compositions are produced utilizing curable coating compositions which comprise thermoplastic polymer, from about 3% by weight to about 25% by weight of plasticizer for the thermoplastic polymer and at least about 30% by weight of reactive crosslinking agent. The weight ratio of the thermoplastic polymer to the crosslinking agent is preferably no greater than about 2:1.

    Abstract: A water soluble chemical composition for use as a soil stabilizer, conditer and structuring agent includes a dispersing agent such as a polyanionic sulfonated urea-melamine formaldehyde condensate, an aggregating agent such as a non-ionic water soluble urea-formaldehyde condensate having relative weight average molecular weights between 400 to 10,000 and polydispersity between 2.5 to 10, and a basic salt like di-sodium tetra borate and/or a neutral salt like sodium chloride and a nitrogen potassium or phosphorous containing compound such as potassium nitrate, phosphoric acid, potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate and the like, wherein the ratio of urea-formaldehyde to sulfonated urea-melamine-formaldehyde is between 0.2:1 to 2.0:1 and the final solid contents of this composition is between 1-15%. These compositions are then sprayed on top of sand or soil with conventional equipment and will impart significant improvements in their mechanical properties and their erosion resistance to water and wind.

    Abstract: The substantial reduction of aerosol generation in ink-jet printing is achieved with the addition of a viscoelastic polymer to ink-jet ink compositions. The viscoelastic polymer component is employed at a concentration within the range of 5 to 10 ppm. Examples of suitably employed viscoelastic polymers are polyacrylamides having weight average molecular weights ranging from about 10,000 to 5,000,000 and polyvinylpyrrolidones having molecular weights ranging from about 3,000 to 1,000,000, as well as mixtures thereof. The addition of a viscoelastic polymer component serves to increase the extensional viscosity and the surface tension of the ink, thereby preventing or at least delaying the fragmentation of the tail of an ink droplet ejected by an ink-jet printer. Accordingly, any breakoff remnants are provided with sufficient mass and velocity such that trajectory control is not abandoned to aerodynamic forces.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an anti-fogging agent for the surface of a thermoplastic resin sheet which exerts the following excellent effects:(1) The effect of inhibiting fogging on the surface of the sheet due to the condensation of vapor can last over an extended period of time;(2) Excellent blocking resistance and coating stability make the anti-fogging surface less peelable in the procedure of heating it over a heating plate in a direct heating process so that it is formed into various shapes; and(3) The incorporation of a polyvalent alcohol having wetting properties in a predetermined amount provides excellent antistatic properties. The present invention provides an anti-fogging thermoplastic resin sheet treated with the foregoing anti-fogging agent.

A tin catalyst is disclosed for use in the system which has a valence of +4 and one soluble in the system. A material is added to the system to give the mold or core a resistance to the water in core and mold washes. Suitable materials are propylene oxide derivatives of bis phenol A.

Preferably, the water, the base and a dispersant are mixed first, and then combined with the colorant to produce a colorant slurry. The colorant slurry is then mixed with the ground resin, and milled to produce a slurry color dispersion. Also provided are water-based publication gravure inks made according to the methods outlined above, and a water-based publication gravure ink including water, a colorant, a mixture of a polyamide and a resin other than the polyamide resin, a base, and a dispersant.
