  • Patent number: 6402077
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a winding bay and a method of winding to provide for a high quality wind of a viscoelastic material. A viscoelastic material and a supporting liner are wound onto a roll. After unwinding the liner from a liner let-off roll, the liner is guided under high tension. Before guiding the viscoelastic material onto the liner, the tension in the liner is isolated to reduce the tension in the liner. The viscoelastic material is guided onto the liner, and the viscoelastic material and the supporting liner are wound onto a windup roll.

  • Patent number: 6398147
Abstract: A winder for cord or line attachable to a power drill. The winder has a handle which rotatively supports a shaft having a threaded section. A pair of conical seat members are slidable on the threaded section to engage the core of a reel. A retainer such as a wing secures the seat members and reel in place. The user may hold the handle with one hand while operating the power tool to cause the reel to be rotated in a direction to take up the line. The conical seat members adapt the winder to use with reels of varying core diameter.

  • Patent number: 6390408
Abstract: Device and process for winding a material web onto a winding core to form a wound reel. The device includes a reeling drum positionable against a winding core or a wound roll to form a winding nip, a secondary transport device to displace the winding core/wound roll along a path of travel, and a pressure device and an air squeezing element. • Patent number: 6390403
Abstract: A seat belt retractor has a belt reel that is rotatably mounted on a frame and on which a seat belt can be wound and unwound. A motive spring biases the belt reel in the winding direction. An electric motor adjusts the spring force of the motive spring can be adjusted and/or a torque produced for tightening the seat belt. The torque can be transmitted to the belt reel by a clutch. The deformation of a deformable spring element brings the clutch into an engaged state. The spring element is held on one end of the spring by a holding device actuated by inertial force, at least for initiating its deformation.

  • Patent number: 6390404
Abstract: A rewind spring in a cassette for a seat belt retractor is assembled by first placing a mechanism cover on a winding jig. An arbor is fitted to a winding shaft of the jig. One end of a coiled metal bank spring is then fixed to the spring arbor. The band is then wound onto the arbor in the mechanism cover and a spring cover is fitted to the mechanism cover. Finally, a locking clip is attached to the spring cover to lock the arbor against rotation. A spring arbor for use in the cassette has a generally cylindrical shape and an axially extending slot for receiving an end of the spring. A step is provided in the profile of the cylindrical outer surface of the arbor in the region of the slot to compensate for the thickness of the band wound thereon.

  • Patent number: 6382548
Abstract: A torsion bar in a seat belt retractor includes a torsion portion to be twisted. The torsion portion has an outer portion, and a center portion inside the outer portion. The outer portion has a hardness lower than that at the center portion to thereby increase energy absorption in twisting the torsion portion. Therefore, even if higher stress is applied to the outer portion of the torsion portion when the torsion bar is twisted, the number of turns until the torsion bar is broken can be increased as compared to the conventional one. Accordingly, the belt withdrawing amount is ensured enough after the twisting of the torsion portion is started, thereby improving the energy absorbing capacity.

  • Patent number: 6378797
Abstract: The present invention proposes an improved structure of a wire winding box, which comprises a housing, a rotary disk, a communication cable, a spiral spring, and a locking button. The housing comprises a top cap and a bottom cap. The rotary disk is pivotally installed in a rotary disk tank in the housing. A shaft bushing is installed or integrally formed on one disk surface of the rotary disk for the penetrating and winding of the communication cable. A ring is installed on another disk surface of the rotary disk to be hooked by the spiral spring received in a receiving tank beside the rotary disk tank to provide uniform rewinding force for the rotary disk with respect to the communication cable. The locking button is worked by a resilient element to let a push part thereof protrude out of the housing. A bump is formed on the locking button and extends to the rotation path of a slanting retaining block preset on the rotary disk to stop the retaining block timely to lock the rotary disk.

  • Patent number: 6367732
Abstract: A strapping machine having an inertial rotating system allowing for strapping materials to be continually fed to the feed wheel of the device is provided. The inertial rotating system allows the strapping machine to continue to feed strapping material such that loops of excess material are not generated upon the cessation of pull force on the strapping material. The inertial rotating system includes a twisted belt allowing the motor shaft to be placed approximately perpendicular to the pulley attached to the reel of strapping material such that the pulley and strap may be housed within the housing of the strapping machine. The use of a twisted belt allows for the use of a motor having a single drive shaft, thus simplifying the motor used in the strapping machine. The inertial rotating system further provides a means to rewind and recover strapping material from the strapping machine.

  • Patent number: 6367731
Abstract: A roll paper pulling load-buffering device enables smooth roll paper transportation and minimizes the space required for its installation in the printer. The load-buffering device has an arm 22a that moves a specified angle around the shaft 24 on which the roll paper turns. A roller 23 extends widthwise to the roll paper from the arm 22a at a point offset from the outside diameter of the roll. Paper pulled off the roll is draped around this roller 23. When a transportation roller is driven to advance paper from the roll by pulling from the end of the roll, tension applied to the paper causes the arm 22a to turn in one direction by way of the intervening roller 23. An urging means 25 such as a spring then urges the roller 23 and arm 22a in the opposite direction, maintaining even tension on both sides of the roller 23 and thereby enabling smooth roll paper transportation.

  • Patent number: 6367728
Abstract: A safety belt winding device is provided having a tensioning mechanism with a cable that can be unwound from a pulley, and also having a force-limiting device for a predetermined belt withdrawal, wherein the connection between the belt winding shaft and the tensioning mechanism is adapted to be eliminated after conclusion of the tensioning movement. A retaining element is disposed on an end of the cable and is releasably fixed in position on the pulley, wherein an ejection arm is mounted on the pulley such that it can be pivoted out radially and that during a tensioning process in a belt winding direction is held in a pivoted-in position by the housing in which the pulley is accommodated. During rotation of the belt winding shaft in the belt withdrawal direction, the ejection arm pivots outwardly and is fixed from further rotation via a configuration of the housing and thereby displaces the retainer element of the cable out of engagement with the housing.
