Abstract: In order to service work stations of either spinning or doubling machines of the type having several service units travelling alongside their work stations, whenever an inspection of a given service unit becomes necessary, the given service unit to be inspected is brought from an operative condition into an inspection position. Such position is crosswise to the usual operative direction of travel of the service unit, and its side to be inspected (and which is otherwise turned towards the machine) is preferably thereby rendered accessible. Also, its normal work path is opened to use by another service unit. Such other service unit then travels into the opened work path and takes over the task of servicing the work station or stations in the assigned operative work area of the given service unit being inspected until same is brought back from its inspection position into its work path upon completion of the inspection, and again assumes the task of servicing work stations of its assigned work area.

The endless belt has feed pins erected in a row at predetermined intervals on its outer peripheral surface. The feed wheel is supported by the frame rotatably about a rotational axis parallel to that of the driving sprocket in a position close to the same sprocket, and it has feed pins radially erected in a circumferential row at predetermined intervals on its outer peripheral surface.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are woven, knitted or braided fabric coverings having an increased abrasive resistance under vibrating conditions which are suitable for hoses, wires, tubes, harnessing, etc. where vibration under abrasive conditions causes rapid wearing of protective coverings. The resistance to these conditions is achieved by incorporating into the fabric of a flexible first yarn, a second yarn of a metal wire filament of comparable flexibility as the first yarn and forming a matrix to protect the first yarn. Also disclosed is the method of making the protective coverings from these fabrics.

The guide mechanism comprises the lowermost one of the horizontal rods, upon which the fiber slivers rest, plus two vertical guide rods that are disposed to the sides. Disposed downstream of the guide mechanism is a sliver funnel in which are successively disposed at least two pairs of further nozzles.
Abstract: A steel cord comprises a central bundle of three twisted steel filaments (1) with a diameter d.sub.1 and nine steel filaments twisted around said central bundle with the same twist pitch and twist direction as the central bundle. Three filaments (2) of said nine steel filaments have a diameter d.sub.2 and contact two adjacent steel filaments of the central bundle. Six steel filaments (3) of said nine steel filaments have a diameter d.sub.3 and contact both one steel filament of the central bundle and one steel filament of the three filaments with diameter d.sub.2. The ratio d.sub.2 /d.sub.1 is greater than 1.05 and smaller than 1.16. The raio d.sub.3 /d.sub.1 is greater than-0.205=0.814.times.d.sub.2 /d.sub.1 and smaller than-0.105+0.814=d.sub.2 /d.sub.1.
Abstract: A method and a device for improving a yarn produced with genuine twist in the rotor of an open-end spinning apparatus directs the yarn through a yarn take-off nozzle in a given yarn travel direction. The yarn is subsequently diverted from the given yarn travel direction first to one side and then back to the opposite side over false-twist edges disposed obliquely relative to the given yarn travel direction including a last false-twist edge. Outer fiber ends of the traveling yarn are spread radially apart after passing the last false-twist edge. The yarn is subsequently passed through a pair of delivery rollers.
Abstract: A device for producing spinning yarn including a rotary pipe having a sliver path through which a sliver coming out from a front roller pair of a draft device is passed, a rotary plate formed integrally with and spaced from the entrance of the rotary pipe, and a casing surrounding the rotary pipe and the rotary plate. The casing has formed therein an injection nozzle which is opened obliquely toward the entrance of the rotary pipe for injecting whirling air, an air relief hole formed adjacent the rotary plate, an air whirling chamber in which air injected from the air injection nozzle whirls at a high speed, and an air relief chamber in communication with the air whirling chamber and having a gradually increasing volume.
Abstract: In the process and apparatus for loading a ring spinning machine with roving-supply bobbins at least two bobbins rows extending longitudinally on each side of the spinning machine supply roving to the work stations and a auxiliary bobbin row which can travel in with full bobbons and out with empty bobbins are provided. According to our invention an exchange process is provided comprising replacing the roving of the bobbins in one of the bobbins rows supplying the roving which is being consumed by the roving of the auxiliary bobbin row which has been brought in with full bobbins. Thus the auxiliary bobbin row becomes one of the bobbin rows dispensing the roving while the bobbin row being replaced now becomes the auxiliary bobbin row with empty bobbins and is taken away. A new auxiliary bobbin row with full bobbins is then brought in. The exchange process is repeated for each of the bobbin rows as the roving is exhausted. A simple space saving apparatus for performing this process is described.

Abstract: Fiber material to be spun is presented to drafting equipment in the form of a fiber sliver and is subjected to pre-stretching and main stretching in such drafting equipment. While being stretched, the fiber sliver is gathered together to a minimum width which amounts to at least 1.5 times the diameter of a torsion device to be used with the sliver. After being thus gathered together, the fiber sliver is not further gathered together before having torsion imparted thereto while such diameter is maintained. The width of a condenser situated upstream from the main stretching field amounts here to at least 1.5 times the diameter of a pneumatic torsion device situated downstream from such field. The injector component and torsion component of such torsion device are of identical diameter, from their intake opening to their outlet opening. In this way, hairy and soft yarns, similar to ring yarn, are produced.

Abstract: A ballooning control ring for spinning machinery which has an annular body made of sintered material having a groove in which lubricating a lubricating wick is disposed, a cover body covering said groove and a handle fitting body. The lubricating wick in the groove is connected to an automatic oiling device provided below the handle fitting body. This ring prevents oil-soiling of the annular body and consequently prevents production of oil-stained yarn.
Abstract: In an optical fiber cabling line where a grooved ring is axially drawn at a translational speed, there is provided a device designed to insert optical fibers in helical grooves of the ring. The fibers are unwound, are drawn through a rotating plate and converge following cone generating lines towards the device. In order to avoid the use of fiber-guides coupled directly in rotation with the ring, the device comprises a quill rotationally stationary and coaxial with the ring for laying the fibers into the grooves of the ring, and means, such as two worm screws set orthogonally to the ring, arranged after the quill in the travel direction of the ring and mechanically uncoupled from the ring for thrusting the fibers to the bottoms of the grooves. The worm screw also contributes to align the fibers as they leave the plate, with the ring grooves within the quill.
