Patent number: 9197719Abstract: The invention relates to a method for communicating data between a communication system and a mobile radio-communication network through an Internet Protocol data communication channel. The communication system comprises a host device and a portable object cooperating with the host device. According to the invention, the portable object determines in which geographical place the communication system is located. The portable object determines whether at least one subscription before a mobile radio-communication network operator over a data communication channel using the IP within the geographical place exists or not. And, if at least one subscription before a mobile radio network operator exists, then the portable object sends to the host device a request for reading configuration data relating to an access to the data communication channel using the IP.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2010Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: GEMALTO SAInventor: Paul Bradley

Patent number: 9197379Abstract: Techniques provide additional Hybrid-ARQ indication resources for LTE TDD subframes that are normally without conventional LTE PHICH resources or that have too few LTE PHICH resources. In some embodiments, a modified PHICH is created using unused REGs in the control region of the downlink subframe. In others, a modified PHICH resides within the resources of an AL=1 PDCCH, and is formed using encoding and modulation processes that differ from normal PDCCH processing. In other embodiments, the PUSCH HARQ feedback bits are carried by a conventional LTE PDCCH, which is distinguished from other PDCCHs by scrambling it with a new type of RNTI: HARQ indicator Radio-network temporary identifier (HI-RNTI). In still other embodiments, the modulation symbols of PHICH are then placed on top of those normally reserved for PDCCHs. For such overlapped radio resources, the modulation symbols from the modified PHICH will replace those from normal PDCCHs for transmission.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2012Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Erik Eriksson, Cheng Jung-Fu, Daniel Larsson

Patent number: 9191867Abstract: A method, apparatus, computer program product, and processing system provide for dynamic selection of a secondary serving cell among various available secondary serving cells, be they in the same frequency as the primary serving cell (as in SFDC-HSDPA), in a different frequency but in the same band as the primary serving cell (as in DC-HSDPA), or in a different band from the primary serving cell (as in DB-DC-HSDPA). Here, the UE may be preconfigured for each of the available secondary serving cells, and may receive a configuration message to select between one of them based on factors such UE battery consumption, CQIs corresponding to the available secondary serving cells, loading of the secondary serving cells, or UE power headroom limitations. Thus, an advanced UE capable of receiving the plurality of technologies may benefit from dynamically selecting the best available secondary serving cell in accordance with the factors.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2011Date of Patent: November 17, 2015Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventor: Sharad Deepak Sambhwani

Patent number: 9178790Abstract: A first node that transmits TCP packets to and receives TCP packets from a second node splits a target TCP packet throughput across multiple consecutive time slots, each slot having a target throughput value. If a current slot's achieved throughput value does not match the current slot's target throughput value, the target throughput value for the current slot and/or a subsequent slot is adjusted. Transmit throughput from the first node to the second node is controlled by transmitting TCP packets from the first node to the second node according to a target throughput value for the current slot. Receive throughput from the second node to the first node is controlled by dynamically calculating an advertised receive window size according to a target throughput value for the current slot and communicating the advertised receive window size to the second node.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2012Date of Patent: November 3, 2015Assignee: IxiaInventors: Partha Majumdar, Maksim Pyatkovskiy

Patent number: 9178808Abstract: The different switch modules making up a distributed virtual switch may route configuration commands for hardware resources to different modules within the distributed switch using a distribution and routing layer. At least one of the switch modules maintains a routing table that defines which switch modules are responsible for which hardware resources. The switch module uses the routing tables to forward the commands on the distribution and routing layer to the responsible switch module which then ensures that the relevant hardware resources are configured.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2011Date of Patent: November 3, 2015Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Josep Cors, David R. Patent number: 9178832Abstract: To prevent buffer overflow, a receiving entity may use credits to control the total amount of packets any single transmitting entity can forward. Once the assigned credits are spent, the transmitting entity cannot send data portions to the receiving entity until additional credits are provided. However, the logic in the receiving entity may be designed to manage a maximum number of credits that is less than the capacity of the buffer in the transmitting entity. For example, the receiving entity is designed to manage a maximum of eight credits but the buffer has room for twelve data portions. To use the buffer efficiently, the transmitting entity may identify when extra buffer storage is available and provide additional credits. In addition, the transmitting entity may control when the credits are provided such that the receiving entity is not allocated more credits that it was designed to manage.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2013Date of Patent: November 3, 2015Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Prakash B.
