  • Patent number: 9430177
Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing an enhanced Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) display (WFD) session in a WFD network, and system thereof. Once a WFD connection is setup, a WFD source device broadcasts a WFD capability request frame to multiple WFD sink devices over the WFD connection. In response, each of the WFD sink devices sends a WFD capability response frame to the WFD source device. The WFD capability response frame contains capability information and audio and video intent value associated with the respective WFD sink devices. The WFD source device consolidates a sink property table using the capability information and the audio and video intent value associated with respective WFD sink devices. The WFD source device establishes a WFD session with the multiple WFD sink devices. The WFD source device streams multimedia content to the WFD sink devices in a multicast manner.

  • Patent number: 9413850
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments allow a user to create configurations for use in distributed computing environments. Configurations can be arranged in hierarchies in which elements of the hierarchy can inherit characteristics from elements in other layers of the hierarchy. Embodiments also allow a user to flatten a hierarchical configuration to remove hierarchical dependencies and/or inheriting capabilities of elements in the hierarchy. Exemplary embodiments further allow users to deploy a distributed computing configuration on their desktop to evaluate performance of the configuration and then deploy the configuration in a distributed computing environment without having to change programming code run on the desktop/distributed computing environment.

  • Patent number: 9398263
Abstract: A first device communicates with subscriber devices in an access network. A communication is sent from a subscriber device to the first device requesting that the subscriber device be permitted to join a multicast group associated with data for a desired content. After determining that the subscriber device is authorized to receive that content, the first device sends one or more multicast signaling communications to a second device. The multicast signaling communications instruct the second device to join the requested multicast group and provide an identifier associated with that multicast group. After joining the multicast group and receiving content data packets of that group, the second device encapsulates those received packets in frames according to an access network media access control (MAC) protocol and forwards the MAC frames to the subscriber device. The MAC frames include the identifier provided to the second device by the first device.

  • Patent number: 9386040
Abstract: A policy-based management mechanism is provided, whereby the mechanism provides for at least the controlling of access to network resources, the integration of different frameworks into a common open standard, and modular components for assembling integrated date and voice services. The mechanism accomplishes this by using an access management component that checks for access credentials, a service management component that identifies which resources are available to a requestor of resources, and a resource management component that manages the requested resources. In one exemplary implementation, a fourth component, the policy management component links the first three components such that a resource request gains access to resources based on policy decisions determined by the fourth component for the first three components.

  • Patent number: 9362977
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention is a method for performing incremental preamble detection in a wireless communication network. The method processes non-overlapping chunks of incoming antenna data, where each chunk is smaller than the preamble length, to detect the signature of the transmitted preamble. For each chunk processed, chips of the chunk are correlated with possible signatures employed by the wireless network to update a set of correlation profiles, each profile comprising a plurality of profile values. Further, an intermediate detection is performed by comparing the updated profile values to an intermediate threshold that is also updated for each chunk. Upon receiving the final chunk, the correlation profiles are updated, and a final preamble detection is made by comparing the updated profile values to a final threshold. Detections are performed on an incremental basis to meet latency requirements of the wireless network.

  • Patent number: 9357421
Abstract: A method of power headroom reporting (PHR) is proposed. A UE is configured with a plurality of component carriers (CCs) and is served by one or more power amplifiers (PAs) in a wireless system with carrier aggregation. The UE determines transmit power limitation (TPL) information that comprises a set of TPL values, each TPL value corresponds to a UE-configured maximum transmit power for UE-level, PA-level, and CC-level. The TPL information is then reduced to non-redundant TPL values. Based on the non-redundant TPL values, the UE determines power headroom (PH) information that comprises a set of PH values. Each PH value equals to a TPL value subtracted by a UE-calculated transmit power. The UE reports the PH information to a base station via a fixed-length or variable-length MAC CE at each PHR reporting instance.

  • Patent number: 9356828
Abstract: A connection-oriented network has a first working path (W1) and a second working path (W2). A node (E) receives signalling to allocate resources for a part of a recovery path (R1) for the first working path (W1). The resources are shared by the recovery path (R1) for the first working path and a recovery path (R2a) for the second working path (W2). The node (E) stores an association between the shared resources and a node (A) on the first working path, identified in the signalling, which should be notified when the shared resources are used by the recovery path (R2a) for the second working path (W2). An RSVP-TE <NOTIFY_REQUEST> object in the signalling carries an address of the node to be notified. The node (E) sends an RSVP-TE Notify message to a node (A) on the first working path (W1) which indicates that the shared resources are in use.

  • Patent number: 9357470
Abstract: In wireless communication with another communication apparatus in a predetermined wireless network, overhead information defined in a media access control layer is divided into a header of information necessary for the common access control and a header of information necessary for each payload. Address information is added to the header of information necessary for the common access control to transmit the generated header attached to the transmission data. For example, in a case of forming a physical burst in which a plurality of data payloads are combined into one, a frame structure is provided without useless repetition of address information.
