Abstract: The modular assignment of storage space provides consumers with greater access to cDVR systems and to more efficiently allocate storage within the cDVR system. When a record command is received, it will be determined whether sufficient storage space is available to the consumers. When it is determined that the consumer does not have enough storage space to record the content item in the cDVR system, additional storage space may be allocated modularly to the consumer. Consumers will select how storage space is to be modularly allocated for their use (either via preset options or at the time or recording) and the service provider or operator of the cDVR will provide the set amount in accordance with the consumer's preferences.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for outputting additional content to a user are disclosed. One or more image capture devices may be controlled to capture images of areas where users might be viewing content. Objects in the captured images may be recognized. Based on the results of object recognition, additional content may be determined and output for display.

Abstract: A method and a system for facilitating channel control on a paired device are provided. The method includes extracting channel metadata information of each broadcast channel displayed on a display device, if an amount of display time of each broadcast channel exceeds a predetermined value. Further, the method includes transferring the channel metadata information of each viewed broadcast channel to the paired device. The method includes storing the channel metadata information of each viewed broadcast channel. Furthermore, the method includes displaying a plurality of icons on an interactive interface of the paired device, wherein each icon is based on the channel metadata information. Thereby, the method facilitates channel control through the interactive interface on the paired device.

Abstract: A content device and method is disclosed to include a processing device to process streaming video content. A fingerprinter receives captured frames of the streaming video content and, for each frame of a plurality of the captured frames, generates a one-dimensional histogram function of pixel values and transforms the histogram function with a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), to generate a plurality of complex values for the frame. The fingerprinter further, for each of the plurality of complex values, assigns a binary one (“1”) when a real part of the complex value is greater than zero (“0”) and assigns a binary zero (“0”) when the real part is less than or equal to zero, to generate a plurality of bits. The fingerprinter further concatenates a specific number of the bits to generate a fingerprint for the frame.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for distribution of content within a vehicle. A server having a first set of content stored within a memory can be communicatively coupled with one or more clients such as using a plurality of wireless access points. Each of the clients can have a processor, memory, and transceiver, such that it can communicate with the server and potentially its neighbors. Groups of the clients can be communicatively coupled, such as via a wired or wireless network, which permits the clients to communicate with one another to retrieve content, for example, rather than burden the server or the wireless access points.

Abstract: A method and system to facilitate localized replacement of one or more commercials or other instances of base content in a video feed with replacement-media delivered in a separate broadcast TV transport stream. A local TV station that broadcasts to an area covering a video program distributor (VPD) includes supplemental content, such as replacement commercials, within its broadcast in a manner that standard broadcast-TV receivers would disregard but that a equipment at the VPD will receive and process. The equipment at the VPD thus receives the local broadcast from the TV station and extracts from the broadcast the included supplemental content. And equipment at the VPD inserts the extracted supplemental content in place of one or more instances of base content in a transport stream that the VPD receives separately from a video-program source, so as to establish a modified transport stream for delivery to end-user TV receivers.
