  • Patent number: 10313719
Abstract: A video splicer combines a first video stream, encoded in accordance with a block based coding algorithm, with a second video stream. A header processor detects a key position picture in each of a plurality of sequential GOPs of the first stream and determines a presentation time for each key position picture in each GOP in the first stream. A timing mapper identifies a respective image in the second stream having a presentation time corresponding to a key position picture of the first stream. An encoder encodes the second stream in accordance with the block based coding algorithm. A new GOP is started with the respective image in the second stream having a presentation time corresponding to the key position picture of the first stream. A switcher switches between outputting the first stream and the encoded second stream by a signal from the timing mapper.

  • Patent number: 10299002
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to measure exposure to streaming media are disclosed. An example apparatus includes, a duration setter to, upon completion of playback of a first media segment of a multi-segment media, update a multi-file counter. A file detector is to detect that a second media segment is a segment of the multi-segment media. An event listener is to determine a playback time within the second media segment. A metadata retriever is to add the playback time to the multi-file counter to determine a corresponding playback time of the multi-segment media, the metadata retriever to attempt to perform a lookup of a metadata tag in a table of metadata tags and corresponding playback positions based on the playback time of the multi-segment media. A transmitter is to transmit the metadata tag corresponding to the playback time of the multi-segment media to an audience measurement entity.

  • Patent number: 10291943
Abstract: A node interworks with and is connected to at least one base station (BS). The BS-interworking node includes a monitoring module, an event detecting module, and a media processing module. The monitoring module monitors MPEG media transport (MMT) streaming data being delivered from a live streaming server to a terminal. The event detecting module detects whether predetermined event information is contained in the monitored streaming data. The media processing module replaces a media processing unit (MPU) of the streaming data with a predetermined event unit if the predetermined event information is detected from the streaming data, and delivers the streaming data having the replaced event unit to the terminal.

  • Patent number: 10277959
Abstract: Methods, devices, systems and computer program products facilitate accessing metadata associated with a primary audio visual content. Upon reception of a primary content, one or more watermark messages are extracted from the primary content obtain a server code and an interval code. A query to a metadata server is initiated based on the information obtained from the extracted watermark messages. In response to the query, service recovery information is received that includes information identifying one or more timed events, where each timed event identifies an operation to be performed at a corresponding instance in time as the primary content is being presented by the receiver device. One or more operations identified the timed events are initiated at the corresponding instance(s) in time.

  • Patent number: 10231033
Abstract: Receiving and processing out-of-band (OOB) data along with a media stream is disclosed. The received OOB data can be extracted from an OOB data stream and correlated with the media stream using timestamps. Display and other operations can then be performed when a timestamp of the OOB data matches a current timestamp of the media stream. In addition, timestamp notification requests can be received and processed such that when the current timestamp of the media stream matches a requested timestamp, a notification can be transmitted, and data can be received in response to the notification.

  • Patent number: 10231023
Abstract: Audio fingerprinting and other media matching technologies can be used to identify broadcast media, such as television shows and radio broadcasts. A user device can record image, audio, and/or video information and upload information to a matching service that is able to use matching technology to identify the media and provide supplemental content or information to the user. The user might receive information identifying a product in an advertisement, identifying an actor on screen in a movie at a particular time, or other such information. In some embodiments, the user can receive access to a digital copy of the captured media, such as the ability to download a copy of a program in which a user expressed interest. Since a user might capture media information after the point of interest, a device can buffer a window of recently captured media in order to attempt to identify the intended media.

  • Patent number: 10178416
Abstract: A method and system to facilitate localized replacement of one or more commercials or other instances of base content in a video feed with replacement-media delivered in a separate broadcast TV transport stream. A local TV station that broadcasts to an area covering a video program distributor (VPD) includes supplemental content, such as replacement commercials, within its broadcast in a manner that standard broadcast-TV receivers would disregard but that a equipment at the VPD will receive and process. The equipment at the VPD thus receives the local broadcast from the TV station and extracts from the broadcast the included supplemental content. And equipment at the VPD inserts the extracted supplemental content in place of one or more instances of base content in a transport stream that the VPD receives separately from a video-program source, so as to establish a modified transport stream for delivery to end-user TV receivers.
