A content rewind system electronically accesses digital content. A rewind trigger is detected by the system. The system analyzes the digital content to detect at least one dialog segment within the digital content. The analysis is based on context of the digital content (e.g., dialog within the digital content). The system rewinds playback of the digital content by rewinding to a starting point of a previous dialog segment.

Abstract: A method for generating an original total stream intended for being distributed to at least one broadcasting site, which includes a modulator and a transmitter sending a radiofrequency signal on a first frequency. The method implements the following acts: obtaining at least one transport stream comprising at least one transport packet; obtaining, from at least one modulation parameter for the broadcasting site, at least one starting instant of a modulation frame intended for being sent by the broadcasting site; inserting at least one modulation information packet in the at least one transport stream, at a position determined from the at least one starting instant; and generating the original total stream, including at least one physical layer pipe encapsulating the at least one transport stream carrying the at least one modulation information packet.

The method of providing a multimedia service includes collecting user-preference-aware information, device-capability-aware information, and network-aware information, generating a packet according to a correlation among the user-preference-aware information, the device-capability-aware information, and the network-aware information, and providing a multimedia service according to the generated packet.

Abstract: Systems and methods are operable to control operation of a portable media device based on machine readable information of a graphical artifact shown on a display concurrently with presentation of a video portion of a media content event. A portable media device, using a portable media device provisioned with an image capture device, captures at least one image that includes the display that is presenting the graphical artifact and the video portion of the media content event, identifies the graphical artifact in the captured at least one image, determines the machine readable data based on the identified graphical artifact, and operates the portable media device to perform at least one operation based on the determined machine readable data.

Abstract: Facilitating pre-positioning of streaming content onto communication devices is provided herein. A system can comprise a processor and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations. The operations can comprise facilitating an identification of a first multimedia content stream and a second multimedia content stream. The identification can be based on a usage preference of a defined entity associated with a communication device. The operations can also comprise, in response to a determination that an available network satisfies a defined network criterion, facilitating pre-positioning, at a data store of the communication device, the first multimedia content stream and the second multimedia content stream.

Abstract: A method includes sending, from a server to a network device, a request for channel change server data, the request identifying a time slot. The method includes receiving, at the server, the channel change server data from the network device responsive to the request. The channel change server data identifies a set of times during the time slot and an estimated number of active channel change servers for each time of the set of times. The method also includes, in response to a first particular estimated number for a first particular time of the set to times indicating to increase a number of active channel change servers, sending an activation command from the server to a first idle channel change server at a first time before the first particular time. The activation command instructs the first idle channel change server to transition to an active channel change server.

Changes in the schedule of programs may be compensated manually or automatically when the recording system receives information about actual or predicted time changes. In a manual mode, a user may adjust start or end times based on time change information that is displayed. For an automatic mode, the recording system may automatically compensate for predicted or actual time changes that are known by automatically adjusting the start and end times of recording.

Abstract: A session management involves registering at least one IPTV application in a registration table so that the registration table includes at least a respective identifier of the IPTV applications. An event requiring the invocation of an IPTV application at the set top box is detected and triggers a look-up in the registration table. The registration table is thus used as source to indicate those IPTV applications that are potentially available and can be launched at the set top box. One of the registered applications is launched for the purpose of handling the detected event.
