Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing a metal oxide catalyst which is suitable for production of acrylic acid or acrylonitrile in one stage by a catalytic oxidation reaction of propane in a high yield. The present invention is characterized by using a fine particle of metallic tellurium obtained by reducing a Te compound with a reductant as a raw material for producing an oxide catalyst including metal elements Mo—V—Nb—Te. The fine particle of metallic tellurium is preferably one containing primary particles having a particle size of not more than 4.0 ?m. By using a metal oxide obtained by the process of the present invention, acrylic acid can be produced from propane by a one-stage oxidation reaction in a higher yield not less than 40%.

Abstract: Methods for purifying a p,p-bisphenol A generally include distilling a feed stream comprising p,p-BPA in a distillation column at a pressure less than or equal to 20 millibars. The distillation column separates the bisphenol feed stream to produce a light fraction, an intermediate fraction and a heavy fraction. The intermediate fraction comprising the purified bisphenol contains lesser impurities that the p,p-BPA in the feed stream. In one embodiment, the intermediate stream is recovered using a side-draw. The side-draw is located between a first zone and a third zone in the distillation column.

The composition includes in combination with oxygen the elements molybdenum, vanadium, niobium, gold in the absence of palladium according to the empirical formula MoaWbAucVdNbeZf, wherein Z is one or more elements selected from B, Al, Ga, In, Ge, Sn, Pb, Sb, Cu, Pt, Ag, Fe and Re, and a, b, c, d, e and f represent the gram atom ratios of the elements such that: 0<a?1; 0?b<1 and a+b=1; 10?5?c?0.02; 0<d?2; 0<e?1; and 0.0001?f?0.05.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a saturated organic compound bearing at least one functional group from a mixture which comprises this saturated organic compound containing at least one functional group and also one or more other organic compounds, which comprises i) mixing a silver-ion-loaded ion exchanger with the mixture at a temperature which is below the boiling point of the mixture, ii) then removing the supernatant and iii) detaching the ion-exchanger-bound, saturated organic compound having at least one functional group from the ion exchanger.
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a vinyl ether group-containing, (meth)acrylic ester, which has both radical polymerizability and cation polymerizability, improved in storage stability and stability in handling without impairing its polymerizability or, in other words, provide a stabilized vinyl ether group-containing (meth)acrylic ester. Another object is to provide a method of producing a stabilized vinyl ether group-containing (meth)acrylic ester composition. A further object is to provide a method of stably handing, a method of economically and stably producing and a method of purifying a vinyl ether group-containing (meth)acrylic ester.
Abstract: In the stopping and starting operations of a distillation column used for producing (meth)acrylic acids according to the present invention, upon stopping the operation of the distillation column, the heating of a reboiler attached thereto is interrupted and then the reboiler is rapidly cooled; and/or upon starting the operation of the distillation column for production of the (meth)acrylic acids, an inner wall surface of the distillation column is heated to a temperature higher than a condensation temperature of the (meth)acrylic acids and the operation of the distillation column is started under the heated condition. According to the present invention, it is possible to early and safely stop the operation of the distillation column while preventing the occurrence of polymerization within the distillation column, and stably perform an operation for distillation of acrylic monomers for a long period of time.

Abstract: In this invention, a process of thermal degradation of biodegradable bacterial polyesters poly(hydroxyalkanoate)s (PHAs) to lower molecular weight PHAs in controllable manner has been developed. The process involves using at least one additional component to ‘dilute’ the PHAs in the thermal degradation process, so that the process can be controlled in the senses of better heat transfer, better stirring, easier working up after the reaction. The relationship of processing time and the molecular weights of the products at a certain temperature was obtained so that it is possible to obtain the desired molecular weight products in the real production under the guidance of the relationship.
