  • Patent number: 9853779
Abstract: A UE for performing carrier aggregation is described. The UE determines a duplex method of each serving cell for carrier aggregation. A primary cell is a FDD cell. When transmitting PDSCH HARQ-ACK information on a PUSCH or using a PUCCH format 3 in a later subframe, the UE generates two NACKs for a PDSCH transmission in an earlier subframe for a serving cell when a configured downlink transmission mode supports up to two transport blocks, the serving cell is a TDD cell and an earlier subframe is an uplink subframe for the serving cell. The UE further generates a single NACK for a PDSCH transmission in an earlier subframe for a serving cell when a configured downlink transmission mode supports a single transport block, the serving cell is a TDD cell and an earlier subframe is an uplink subframe for the serving cell.

  • Patent number: 9832169
Abstract: An approach for providing secure communication services is disclosed. A secure data tunnel from a source node to a destination node is established via a plurality of secure segments across a data communications network. A data path is established via the secure data tunnel, where the data path supports a performance enhancing mechanism that improves performance of data communications over the data path. The performance enhancing mechanism multiplexes data packet flows from the source node for transmission over the data path, and performs one or more of connection startup latency reduction, acknowledgment message spoofing, window sizing adjustment, compression and selective retransmission.

  • Patent number: 9831910
Abstract: A method in a communication terminal includes receiving a signal that carries a data channel and at least a control-channel message, which has a first part that is masked with a terminal-specific code. A second part of the control-channel message that is not masked with the terminal-specific code is decoded to produce a decoded second part. The validity of decoded second part is checked. • Patent number: 9814071
Abstract: A method is disclosed for increasing the communication capacity of a shared ad-hoc wireless channel by using multiuser detection (MUD) to distinguish overlapping information transmitted simultaneously by a plurality of nodes. The transmitting nodes simultaneously provide parameter-estimating signals over separate, unshared, low-rate parameter channels generated using orthogonal frequencies, spread spectrum technology, or time multiplexing. Receiving nodes use these separate, non-overlapping parameter-estimating signals to estimate MUD-required signal parameters such as amplitude, phase, and frequency offset, thereby enabling use of lower complexity MUD receivers, because the parameters are not estimated in the presence of other interference. Node ID, spreading code type, and/or other information can also be transmitted over the parameter channels. Limiting the number of parameter channels can limit the maximum number of transmitting nodes.

  • Patent number: 9756571
Abstract: The minimization of the amount of power consumed by an electronic device in acquiring or maintaining network connectivity with a network may extend the battery life of the electronic device. When the electronic device has established a communication connection with a wireless access point, the electronic device cycles a network interface controller of the electronic device between a power on state and a power off state without terminating the communication connection. Accordingly, the electronic device powers on a main processor of the electronic device when the network interface controller detects a beacon during the power on state that indicates the wireless access point has a buffered data frame for the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 9755705
Abstract: Techniques for supporting distributed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmissions are described. In one design, a user equipment (UE) determines channel estimates for multiple cells and reports the channel estimates. The UE thereafter receives a data transmission sent by the multiple cells to the UE based on the channel estimates. The data transmission may include at least one data stream, and each data stream may be sent by one cell or the multiple cells to the UE. In another design, a UE determines first and second channel estimates for first and second cells, respectively, and reports the channel estimates. The UE then receives a first data transmission sent by the first cell to the UE based on the first channel estimate. The UE also receives a second data transmission sent by the second cell to another UE and steered away from the UE based on the second channel estimate.
